Have your own 'resort' get away in a true log cabin. Muskie, bass, walleye, and panfish are all a stones-throw away. Discounted guided trips are available from me personally. There's room for everyone and no worry of being stuck in the mud; the entire property is covered with material from the mines! Huge master suite with walk-in bath and all new hickory cabinets in the kitchen. Enjoy nature with no neighbors in sight. Three boat launches close by and several great bar/restaurants.
Sit on the deck and watch the deer or enjoy the huge fire pit on top of the ' Boulder wall '. This is truely a unique experience that you will want to share with your family and friends.

I have been in the waste removal business for 20 years and also own Jason's Fishin Addiction Guide Service. I enjoy showing folks all the wonders of Lake Vermilion and providing them with 1st class accomidations that the average Joe can afford. I believe it's important to spend time as a family, couple or group of friends in a wonderful atmosphere that this area offers. Not only do I hope my renters become repeat customers, I hope they become life-long friends as well.
Jason Hoerter purchased this cabin in 2007
Finding acreage near Lake Vermilion that a person can afford is next to impossible. My background and resources enabled me to transform a piece of property that most folks passed up due to the extensive work required. I was fortunate to have the time and resources to dedicate myself to this project; knowing that it would bring joy to all those who visit.
Indian Bay Hide Away has all the comforts of home while keeping that 'up-North' feel. Unlike the typical resort setting, you have no units next to you that can see everything you do. I also provide detailed lake maps to my clients that show fishing spots and hidden hazardous areas! All the revenue we receive goes back into the property for future improvements.
I made reservations at Daisy Bay Resort for a 3 bedroom cabin starting August 21st, after researching all of the various resorts in the area, including Polley's (across the street from Indian Bay Hideaway) which was my other consideration. I was looking for the least expensive price that could fit my 6 adult family, along with my 4 very young grandchildren.
On motzei Shabbos (we are Jews who observe the Sabbath); Saturday night, my children informed me that the 3 bedroom place was much too small for all of us and - my youngest married son went to VRBO, which I had never heard of before, to see if anything was available.
When he told me about this place and the price, I told him that he must be mistaken. Assured that he was not, I told him that it wasn't going to be available Sunday night through Wednesday night... It was.
I booked Indian Bay Hideway Sunday morning, online, and it took all of 1/2 hour, including having Jason email me back (he had to be personally contacted because it was a same day rental) and have VRBO accept our reservation and pay for it.
We loved this wonderful 5 bedroom home and were enthralled at how he had renovated it from a single story log cabin. There is a photo book at the downstairs bar showing how it was done and, Anita?, the professional cleaning service woman's husband actually worked on the cabin, changing it into the beautiful home that it is today. Oh, and Anita really does clean the place professionally. Everything was tiptop.
Campfires every night outside. Awe inspiring stars that one can never see anymore near the cities. We rented a pontoon boat from Polley's and went fishing with the whole group for 3/4 of a day. The pontoon was not pretty but, it cost less than 1/2 of what we were going to pay across from Daisy Bay Resort. Plus, they're really nice folks at Polley's.
We went to the Soudan Mine, about 1/2 drive away.
And, on a whim (and recommendation from Furniture Plus - which really is a furniture store but, is also a "tourist store" with a LOT of stuff to amuse and clothe), we went to Cook's Country Connection, (https://cookscountryconnection.com/) which is basically a kind of "petting zoo" plus playground plus just a great place for kids and families.
But we spent most of our time eating; playing; talking; relaxing; and sleeping at Jason's wonderfully beautiful; well equipped; incredibly well laid out; with all of the amenities of home, isolated cabin at lovely Lake Vermillion.
Cabin was perfect. Boat launch was extremely close, fishing was great.
My family had a great time staying here! The weather wasn't great but that didn't stop us from fishing on the pier EVERY DAY. We caught (off the pier) perch, blue gill, northern, bass, and I was inches from landing a nice size Musky. We fished with leaches and the fish loved them. The home was in tip top shape. Plenty of space for everyone to be together and enough room to be apart. We loved all the board games that were available in the cabin to play and had game night at the end of each day. The kitchen is FULLY stocked with all the amenities of home and the fish cleaning station was a plus. If you are looking for a place to get away from outside distractions and bond with your family, this is the place for you! Jason was very helpful and I would definitely recommend this rental.
We had a great time staying here for a long weekend. Even though the weather was rainy one day, there was plenty of room in the cabin for us all, including a nice big tv in the lower level. Any questioned we had for the owner were answered very promptly.
The home was in order and all you would expect was there ie; fridge, coffee maker, stove oven, microwave, outdoor grill, fish cutting table and some simple electronics. Fishing was ok as options for fishing spots were limitless. Public access to the property docks were not that far at all. Fishing maps were laid out but sad to see there wern't any fishing spots pointed out like I was told there would be. We found a few anyways. I did catch a 41' Northern. Not too far from the dock. Cabin we found to be laid out well and cleans. Each room is furnished with storage and queen beds. Thanks for letting us stay!
The cabin was everything we expected and more. The owner was very informative and friendly. We had such a great time and would recommend this to anyone looking for a peaceful place to stay. It was close enough to town but far enough away to have totally privacy. Would most definitely stay here again. Check it out...you won't be disappointed
