This contemporary home boasts newly finished hardwood floors, mid-century modern décor and furniture, with brand new appliances, AC and a working fireplace. With a light- filled open plan layout, this house sleeps five comfortably with two bedrooms and a single sleeper sofa. There is one full bathroom and a large outdoor shower for those sandy trips home from the beach. A fully equipped kitchen with new appliances, cookware and formal dining for six people ensures this house is your home away from home.

This is a small yet very comfortable refurbished home with huge outdoor space, centrally located to enjoy all that Montauk has to offer.

The master bedroom has a queen bed and sliding doors that open to a private deck with garden and easy outdoor shower access. There is a full size closet and ten drawer dresser. The second bedroom has two twin beds, closet and large dresser with ample storage space. Each bedroom has brand new mattresses, new linens (spare linens) and plenty of beach towels! Entertainment (when not enjoying the great outdoors) includes: WiFi, a new 34inch flat screen TV with cable, DVD player, iPod sound station, and board games. We also have some beach toys and accessories too.

The house has large wrap-around decking on three sides, new sliding patio doors open onto the deck - where there are private lounge areas with outdoor dining/seating and a brand new gas barbeque. The new hardwood upholstered lounge furniture and large outdoor table ensures you’ll take advantage of outdoor grilling on warm summer evenings. Located 500 feet from the harbor water, salty breezes keep the bugs at bay and make for peaceful evenings if you are shy of the “surf lodge crowd.”

There is a washer and dryer and a large, secure storage area for bikes and surf boards. Housekeeping services are available for long-term rentals.

Ideally located in a large private garden setting, the house is recessed off a main street. Leave the car in the driveway and walk or bike to the Dock/Harbor, shops, fish market (Gosman's) and the world class restaurants Montauk is becoming famous for. Less than a five minute drive from town and the most popular beaches in the area – this house is the perfect vacation home for all ages.

Suitable for a small family or two couples, this is a non-smoking and allergen-free home, with local, responsive owners who are happy to help with advice on the best surf spots, restaurants, bars and babysitters in town!

About Eleanor

Local interior designer's home in Montauk and am renting it now year round. I fell in love with the location and setting of the house 20 years ago and now live with my family close by. The unique light and atmosphere endeared the property to me. I've been very happy living here and hope you will enjoy all the area and house has to offer.

The house is less than a mile from the Robert Trent Jones-designed, championship-length, 18-hole Montauk Downs State Park Golf Course. Open to the public with driving range, six championship tennis courts, main swimming pool and wading pool for children, as well as clubhouse/bar and a grill room serving breakfast and lunch. The pools are lifeguard supervised: with lessons available, one very large pool with lounge areas, a children's pool and concession stand. (Free for children, $50 approx. per adult season pass.)

The house is also approx. 1 mile to the nearest grocery and fish markets.

Wonderful! Perfectly modern, cozy and very clean!

Perfectly Amazing!

My husband and I rented this house last year for our wedding weekend & it was the best decision we made! The owners are wonderful. They left a bottle of Veuve in the refrigerator for us with a sweet note. The house is impeccably clean and very spacious. The decor is great- Mid-century Modern and very comfortable. There were plenty of linens, toilet paper, dishware, etc. Our favorite part about the house was the large wrap around deck (excellent for wedding photos) & outdoor shower! It was the PERFECT place for me (and my friends) to get ready for my wedding!!

The location is wonderful. It's very quiet and located a few minutes from the beach.

We look forward to booking the house for our first anniversary and many years to come.

Great Escape

We spent an amazing week in Montauk! The house is great...exactly as shown...clean, modern & uncluttered. There is everything you could possibly need. The deck is AMAZING & our 2 daughters read for hours in the hammock while we enjoyed peaceful evenings relaxing outdoors. Very close to both the beach & town. There are so many fantastic restos right around the corner. Anne & Eleanor were so responsive to any qstn we had. They went out of their way to make sure we were comfortable & actually stopped by to drop off some mosquito repellent for us one rainy night. There is a lot of attention to detail within the house such as great bedding, towels, hand soap, kitchen supplies, etc. The outdoor shower was a dream. Taking a shower under the stars after a day of surfing...beyond words. We would love to go back! A great escape from the buzz of city life. Clean, modern, cool get-away!!

Montauk winter weekend

Great house on Montauk lake just outside of town. Tasteful modern interior as seen in the photos, and immaculately clean throughout. Nice comfy bed in the master bedroom. Anne was very responsive to my messages and was sweet to email and make sure that we had arrived without problems. My girlfriend and I spent a very quite cozy weekend here and had everything we needed. Would love to come back during the warmer months to enjoy the deck, grill and back yard.

Perfect! Even in the off season

We had a wonderful stay at Eleanor and Tim's montauk home. The house is just as seen in the photos -- well stocked, cozy, and comfortable. The fire place heated the entire home and Tim gave us excellent suggestions on where to catch the sunset and land the freshest bay scallops. Even in November we loved the outdoor shower! We would definitely go back.

Fantastic property.

Great place to stay. Photos give a real feel for what the house is like. Eleanor and Anne always on hand to answer and questions or to offer advice to us when we asked. Property well maintained and happily recommend to others. We had a great time!

Cute home in transition. Not quite ready for prime time. Issues include lack of proper lighting, etc

While we enjoyed our stay, it must be said the rate charged per night is steep for anyplace in the world, and I've done a LOT of traveling and stayed in many rental homes for comparison. While this home does have it's charms, the rate is much too high for things not to be perfect.

Issue one: lighting. There's no lighting in the dining area AND the outdoor table has no lighting either. I must say that for an interior designer, form should meet function, and this home is lacking in areas. It would have been nice to have places to read in the common areas and at least a lamp on the dresser in the small bedroom could have made a huge difference in both seeing my computer screen AND getting ready for a nice evening out. The owners did finally come and install two lamps in the large bedroom, although they were awkward and had to be adjusted for safety concerns. My husband is very tall and could have hit his head or worse.

There is NO water/lake view.. It would even be generous to say as much if there were no leaves on the trees.

Dining chairs outside are too low. We had to use the indoor dining chairs and schlepp them back and forth. Another case of form not meeting function.

The area was very humid and there were two wall A/C units, but only in the bedrooms. This was not enough to cool the whole home. A large fan would have done wonders. There was a dirty looking fan in the garage, but it wasn't fit for indoors. I think they might have used it to try and ameliorate the strong chemical smells in the garage. I'm glad there wasn't enough laundry detergent to do a load, as I'm not certain I could have stood the strong chemical odors for even that long. Which puts a fib to the home being eco-friendly.

The outdoor shower is fantastic. We loved eating our meals outdoors when possible and the 3 sided deck added a lot to this small home. The landscaping is nice as well. There was, however, a work ladder and some debris outside.

The lady's hybrid bike fit me very well, and was a nice amenity. The mountain bike was too small for my man. Eleanor also left me some very tasty tomatoes and a bottle of wine.

Our initial impression of Montauk was marred by the noisy surf crowd/ "fire and ice" party. But things proceeded well and we had a great week. While one can appreciate responsiveness of the owners to a degree, I'd have preferred a proactive approach. Anticipation of needs. I'd rather not have to constantly point out problem areas and enjoy vacation time. ;-)

Owner's Response: As previous renters have noted the pictures are accurate with no photo adjustments – the style of the interiors is not to everyone’s taste and aesthetic. To address Lisa’s notation on our lack of proactive anticipation: The night before Lisa was due to check in she requested wash cloths to be included as part of the linen selection, noting she requires 3 per day. We provided some disposable hand towels for her immediate use and ordered new wash cloths for her. When they were delivered we laundered them accordingly and dropped them off on Thursday morning. We are in Montauk at the mercy of UPS, the delay was out of our hands and we wished she had 'proactively anticipated' that standard household linens do not include several dozen wash cloths. Lisa upon our suggestion took these home with her for her continued personal use. Lisa and her husband have been the only people to mention the house not being bright enough. Immediately, the day of this request, we delivered two alternate lamps to the house. It appears that a bulb was out on one of the existing lamps. The new lamps are iconic award winning Luceplan lamps, there are no 'safety concerns'. Having worked with a licensed electrician on the lighting design, we are happy that there is sufficient light in the home. We think that its possible Lisa did not understand how to turn on the LED floor lamp with six different settings in the Living Room. Additionally we are very happy with the level of outdoor lighting. Lisa did acknowledge that she initially didn't understand how the sensor lights worked, and revised this later during the week that they were happy with the outdoor lighting upon this realization. Lighting the outdoors for dining must to be very subtle in Montauk. Summer insects are attracted to strong outdoor lighting (note: outdoor candles are provided for additional comfort and to deter any potential bugs). We have never claimed our house to be eco-friendly. We do not mention bikes as being included as part of the house rental. In fact we have only allowed a couple of people to borrow bikes and by specific request only. Lisa is correct, there is no way to accommodate everyone size wise. We have average sized bikes and Lisa’s husband is 6 foot 5 tall. Lisa also mentioned there are no water bottle holders on the bikes either – so again not suitable for everyone’s standards.
