About Todd M.
My name is Todd and I was born and raised in SC. I went to the College of Charleston where I fell in love with Folly Beach. When I found this property I knew it was the perfect fit. I've done a lot to make it everything it can be, but am always looking to improve and ask each guest for their comments and suggestions. Offering the best experience for each guest is my number one concern.
Todd M. purchased this Apartment in 2005

Where to begin. We were set to arrive for 22 nights the evening after Hurricane Dorian (we are local and were having work done at home.). We tried to push our dates, but the owner insisted a mandatory evacuation was not a reason to do so. He started by charging us for these days. We arrived to a damaged apartment 5 days after the hurricane- the French doors had blown open and much of the apartment was flooded and was not cleaned up for 4 days. A huge window (about 4 feet tall) was blown out and not repaired. Wasps, mosquitoes and gnats were throughout the place. My husband left and retrieved plastic sheeting and tape to patch it. The floors were so swollen, I'd wrench my back trying to open the French door, which also had its header busted, leaving it in secure. The place became very mildewy so we were running a dehumidifier, 2 air purifiers and diffusing essential oils. The owner told us we could get our own person to make the repairs and he would reimburse us. The renters downstairs suffered their ceiling falling in and constant dripping that required buckets. They were told the same thing. Repair people eventually came. They would arrive unannounced and it was up to me to orient them to the disaster. A window guy came and said the entire French door needed replacing. He said he was concerned Todd would not pay him. We never saw him again and the window was not replaced while we were there. One day, a plumber spent about 5 hours going between the two apartments and entered about 7 times. (He told us he collected 5 gallons of water from the subflooring/ceiling.) Again, no one to meet him. It got so bad, we had to leave after 3 days. The owner said he would open our remaining dates and reimburse if someone booked, but then refused to do so because it would look bad on the site. Finally, Vrbo encouraged him to do so after many more days. He then charged us the full damage deposit, stating the apartment was in disarray,. We had used only one of the 3 bedrooms and one of the 2 bathrooms, had stripped the sheets and loaded the dishwasher. I have ten pages of email exchanges with him. His were rude and bullying., even emailing "I hope someday you learn to take responsibility for your decisions opposed to blaming others and making up fictitious stories." This has been a nightmare beyond description. The one star is because the marsh is so beautiful.
It’s true that after countless emails and calls of false claims as an attempt to get money back, I did tell this guest that she should take responsibility for her decisions and refrain from blaming others. That was the only accurate part of this review. I have a beautiful home with amazing views and work very hard to insure each guest has the best trip possible, which I did for this guest as well. However some guests like this guest in particular cannot be helped no matter what you do. For those .1% of guests like this who’d rather complain than enjoy their stay, this probably isn’t the home for you. For the remaining 99.9% of you, welcome and happy booking. I look forward to working with you and giving you the best vacation possible!
Perfect location between Charleston and the beach
We had a wonderful time at Todd's James Island property, plenty of room for all family members. The beach pass was such a convenience. It was an excellent distance from the attractions of Charleston and close to the beach but secluded from "beach town" partying and noise. And the kayaks were a treat.
Centrally located between folly beach and downtown Charleston, the apartment worked well for us guys.
Quiet home with great marsh view
Enjoyed our 2nd stay here. All was as listed. Enjoyed the peaceful mornings and sunsets on decks. Thanks.
We loved the location of this house. Very convenient to shopping. Thank you for allowing us to stay
Beautiful location, conveniently located between downtown and folly beach.
We had a nice stay in Charleston. The place was clean and as described in the write up. The quiet neighborhood location was exactly what we were looking for our family of 4. We didn’t get a chance to use the kayaks and bikes, due to weather. The house is comfortable, has a lived in feel and quirky personality. It would probably not be ideal for someone looking for high end accommodations, but it suited our family just fine. Overall a great stay.
