The residence is a part of a complex, which consists of independent similar houses. It lies in an amphitheatrical spot with splendid view. In an altitude of 300 meters the residence is overlooking the Aegean Sea, having a Western oriented view with center point the island of Makronissos which extends beyond the Temple of Poseidon on Cape Sounio until the islands of Aigina and Salamina. It is built in accordance to the precepts of the local architecture and blends seamlessly into the Cycladic surroundings.
The residence covers a total area of 108 s.m. divided in three separate levels and possesses a private swimming pool in a plot of 1.000 s.m.
It is suitable for up to 6 guests.
An upper level (wooden attic) overlooking the living room, used as a bedroom.
A ground level containing the kitchen, the dinning place and the living room with the fireplace in one area and one separate bathroom.
A lower level area containing 2 bedrooms, 1 bathroom and a storeroom
The residence is fully equipped with internal and external furniture and 500 s.m. of the plot are formed with typical Greek plants and trees.
The kitchen is fully equipped with built in electrical appliances and all necessary utensils.
An additional external storeroom at the ground level is used to place all external furniture, beach items and swimming pool equipment
So many positives about this place, but first among them is the positioning, with spectacular views out to the west (fabulous sunsets and a glimpse of the Temple of Poseidon at Sounio). So peaceful and secluded set among a few other properties but with none overlooking. The internal space of the house is well designed and comfortable, although I could imagine it would feel a little crowded if all six beds were occupied by adults. Outside, the terrace is large with ample shade (and did I mention the view?) and a large dining table for leisurely lunches and starlit dinners. The pool is of a really good size and depth, and again has that view.
The only real negative was in fact due to that pool. The house is set in the countryside and, since there is no natural surface water on the island during the summer, the pool is an oasis for local wildlife, and when we were there, that mainly meant wasps (the non-aggressive European Paper Wasp, but in the numbers we had – particularly on the hottest days – their thirst and curiosity meant they were a real nuisance.) The owner was really very helpful in helping us try to combat them, but quite simply, nothing was going to stop them getting to that water. Apparently we had hit peak wasp season (late June) so, if you’re scared of wasps, it’s worth asking the owner before you book about how active the little beasties are likely to be at the time you’re planning your trip.
Other than that, we can’t fault the place and had a fabulous fortnight of peace and relaxation. If you want to get out and see more of beautiful Kea, the house is in a good location for exploring the island, and while you’ll need to drive over dirt tracks whichever way you reach it, we managed without incident in an Astra. Some of the roads on Kea would be more comfortable in a 4x4, but most are fine in a standard saloon.
A beautiful and well equipped house with spectacular view. The house was clean and perfect for a family holiday. It is in a quiet location, about 10 minutes drive from both the port town and chora. Getting to the property involves some short sections of dirt track. We were impressed with the service provided by the property manager. Will definitely return.
Staying at Alfredo's House was such a pleasure. The view right at the sea by the pool is amazing, same as the house wich is really comfortable and clean (plus really well furnished). The owner is really helpfull and easy to talk.Of course, the location is a little bit far from cities if you don't have a car, but it's totally fine to rent taxis plus it's part of the charm of it. We definitly would recommended for those who're looking for luxe, peace and, again, one of the best view of the island.
Kea is a lovely island which is not so touristic than the other big islands in greece!
There are so many beautiful beaches and taverns all over kea!
The house is in a perfect condition and new, the view is amazing! We had a very good time there and want to say a special thank you to alfredos and his family for
the perfect accommodation and the tipps where to go on the island!
We had this house right after the other one. Of course the swimming pool was a plus but i don't think I wanna write anything less pleasant then the other house.
The place is beautiful, the swimming pool is super well taking care of, the house is in great state and style. Everything is perfectly made for you to spend a magical time. Especially at sunset. That picture is not lying, the view is breathtaking and at summer time the sun set right in front of you, exposition is perfect, you have it every night!
Again the owner was so kind to us, a real bowl of fresh air. Makes you feel instantly very welcome.
I can't wait to go back!
One thing, you need a vehicle to go to and from the house. But it's part of the fun and also the best way to discover this beautiful island.
Kea is the closest Cycladic Island to Athens. The ferry connection to Kea departs from the port of Lavrio. Lavrio is approximately a 20-25 minute drive from the Athens International airport (Eleftherios Venizelos) and a 45 minute drive from downtown Athens. The ferry trip to Kea’s port, Korissia, lasts approximately one hour. The area of Agios Nikolaos, where the house is lying, is a 10 minutes drive from Korissia.
Despite its proximity to Greece’s biggest urban center, Kea has retained its traditional qualities and is only in recent years that modern development has reached its shores. Over the past 10 years Kea has managed to embrace the right kind of tourism: an eco-friendly destination with a multitude of walking paths and trails and numerous beaches that rival in beauty any of the more established destinations of the Cyclades.
