I had rented this property for my husband’s 40th birthday. Our family of 4 and some friends went together. The property was very clean, very peaceful and very easy to navigate. We were roughly 10 minutes from Woodstock and went to town to eat and hang out often. The kids enjoyed the games and pond outside. All in all, we had a wonderful time and I would definitely return again. The owner truly goes out of her way for you to feel comfortable.
We had a great stay. The house is beautiful!
We had a very fun and relaxing stay. The house was clean & gave the family lots of space. The pond/pool was an added plus!
We so enjoyed our time at the house. The house was beautiful and Robyn made communication easy! We absolutely recommend this house and would stay here again in a heartbeat!
Beautiful rustic atmosphere
Beautiful property, well kept and private. We thoroughly enjoyed our 2 weeks with nature. Thank you for sharing your home with us...
Everything we needed in a beautiful setting.
The house and property were lovely and comfortable and the transaction was perfect. I definitely recommend.
Located in the Hudson Valley, our house is 100 miles north of Manhattan via the NY Thruway. Amtrak trains to Rhinecliff across the river are easy access from NYC. Trailways buses from the City stop in the center of the village. You’ll find we are both away from it all, and in the center of a lot! Lots of to see, lots of outdoor sport and action, music, arts and culture.
'Woodstock' -- legendary symbol of the Sixties, headlined Hendrix, The Who, The Band, Grateful Dead and it's still known for great live music -- chamber to classical to folk to jazz to classic rock to world music. While you're here, check out Radio Woodstock WDST 100.1fm -- it's good!
Always lots to do! Boutique & antique shopping; wine & distillery tours; scenic train-rides; fruit-picking & farm stores; farm-animal sanctuaries; outdoor Shakespeare theater; fiddle & dance camps; educational environmental camps; river tubing and kayaking; psychic & tarot readings! Film Festival in the Fall, Writers Workshops in Spring. In winter -- ski, snowboard, moguls, cross-country, nursery, downhill and racing, 25 minutes away. For art lovers, let the inspiration for the Hudson River School painters be yours too! Set up an easel outdoors or sign in to Woodstock Art School and visit many excellent museums and galleries. The Zen Mountain Monastery is not far, and ‘KTD’ the Karma Triyana Dharmachakra Tibetan Buddhist Monastery up the hill from the center of Woodstock. Both are open to visitors and have monastery stores.
The neighboring village of Saugerties -- 8 miles away -- is 'home to the richest weekend in show jumping'. May to September top US horse shows take place here, courtesy of HITS (Horse Shows in the Sun). Having access to spectacular international show-jumping and dressage competitions right on our doorstep is a must for horse-lovers. Children under 12 are free, as is parking.
History buff? This region helped shape this country! In 1609 Henry Hudson sailed this way instead of the Northwest Passage. Close by Kingston, New York’s old capital, was burned by the British in 1777! And down river Fortress West Point began in 1778.
Over the Kingston/Rhinecliff Bridge takes you to historic Rhinebeck’s fairs -- antiques, crafts, food & wine, sheep & wool, old cars, and the jam-packed County Show. Bard College's Frank Gehry Fisher Center is home to the American Philharmonic. Rt 9 takes you south to Hyde Park, FDR Museum, Eleanor Roosevelt's Val-Kill, the Vanderbilt Mansion and the CIA --Culinary Institute of America so stop by for a quick cafe break, or book a table at one of their classy restaurants. If contemporary art and sculpture is your thing, don't miss DIA Beacon and Storm King.
There’s so much more not listed here, but one last thought. When on your travels, keep an eye out for the awesome Hudson River Sloop Clearwater. She's “America’s Environmental Flagship” -- as conceived by the one and only Pete Seeger -- and if you're lucky you may spot her under full sail gracing the spirit of the river and this very special corner of the world. We look forward to seeing you here!
