Built in 2010, the garage apartment was constructed with the same quality and style as the 100 year old victorian main home.
Enter your private brick patio area with gas grill through a gate adjacent to your off-street parking space. Walk up the stairs past a giant pecan tree and enter the natural-light filled apartment.
The one bedroom apartment has everything you'll need to make your stay a pleasant one.
The full kitchen includes a range with gas cooktop and electric oven, a convection microwave oven, refrigerator, and dishwasher.
The center hallway closet has a clothes washer/dryer.
The tiled bathroom has a large pedestal sink and bathtub/shower.
The bedroom has a queen bed, large dresser and nightstands, as well as a large walk-in closet.
The living room is furnished with a queen fold out bed, with a very comfortable foam mattress, a dining table and chairs for 4, and a flat screen tv with local stations video streaming via NetFlix and Hulu+. A dvd player and video library is also included, as well as free secured wireless internet access.
All linens and towels are provided.
Carol and Greg are native Houstonians who moved to Austin in 1996, although Greg worked as a musician and Carol attended UT in Austin in the 70's. Greg has returned to being a full time musician and Carol now practices acupuncture in our home and also in a clinic.

We had lived out in the Hill Country and decided that we wanted to live in town when Carol started her acupuncture practice. We fell in love with the Hyde Park neighborhood and neighbors, as well as our 100+ year old Victorian home. Greg is an accomplished builder and carpenter, so the wonderful old house offers many remodeling project opportunities - we're not quite finished!
We love living here in the historic Hyde Park neighborhood where we actually know and visit with our neighbors. This is a place where everyone gets out for walks, jogs, and bike rides and everyone takes the time to get to know one another. We know our guests will experience this first hand as they walk to one of the nearby restaurants or other closeby attractions

This apartment has everything you need for your stay in Austin: it is beautifully designed with great furnishings, the kitchen is well-stocked and the neighborhood is quiet with lovely historic homes. It is one of our favorite places that we have stayed at while traveling. We have stayed there twice and would gladly book again!
We've used VRBO many times in our travels and they've all been good. Hyde Park Hideaway was, by far, the nicest. The neighborhood is charming and very walkable with shops and restaurants nearby. It was convenient to many of the attractions we wanted to visit. The apartment itself is nothing short of perfect. My first instinct was to stay in and enjoy it rather than go anywhere. The kitchen and bathroom are lovely and immaculate. We would never consider staying anywhere else in Austin.
Hyde Park Hideaway was the ideal accommodation for us. A lovely one bedroom, separate living and kitchen combined garage apartment. we have stayed here before and loved it. Spacious, clean and beautifully furnished and supplied with anything you would possibly need to make your stay comfortable and relaxed. The location has easy access to the interstate, groceries (the excellent Central Market close by), restaurants and even a hospital. The neighborhood is lovely and fun to walk in. Greg is the perfect host, easy to work with, prompt and responsive to any need you might have. He has also thoughtfully provided information about the apartment, restaurants nearby and local attractions. This is a gem of a place!

in a great part of Austin with some very good restaurants close by. We really appreciated the notebook of helpful information giving suggestions for dining, etc. We look forward to staying here again someday.
What a quaint little place in one of the most coveted quiet spots in the city! The listing description was spot-on accurate regarding the location, layout, and more amenities than you'd ever need! The property was spotless and well-maintained. Our only minor complaint was that the bed/bedding was extremely soft/not much support. The Jacksons, especially Greg, provide wonderful customer service - everything we needed to get around town was at our fingertips! We would recommend this property, but are afraid it wont be available the next time we visit!! ;) Wonderful stay indeed!
Located in central austin, just north of the university of texas campus, the hyde park historic district is the oldest planned community in austin, having been established in the 1890's.
Consisting of a mix of victorian and bungalow style homes, hyde park is a quiet and peaceful oasis in the middle of everything austin has to offer.
Within a short walking distance are great restaurants, a post office, a grocery store, an awesome bakery, a cheese specialty shop, an excellent wine bar, a live theatre, and the elizabet ney museum.
Within a short drive are all of austin's main attractions, including the ut campus, zilker park, barton springs, deep eddy, mount bonnell, lake austin, lady bird lake/jogging trail, south congress, the state capital building, and downtown/6th street, to name a few.
