About Patrick Kelley

The Bear Lodge was built in 1992 by the 3 Partners of Bear Lodge: Dan Legere, Fran Loranger and Patrick Kelley. We all wanted a place to call our own on weekends to enjoy those epic ski days when it is difficult to get to Sunday River Ski Resort from our homes spread all over the Northeast! Being 5 to 10 minutes away helps us enjoy our passion of making tracks on fresh snow! And now we've grown to 10 and we have great stories to share in the years to come. Bear River flows along 3 acres of woods and delivers new sand each spring which creating our own secluded beach out back and lending itself to exploring, fishing and easy day hikes with your little tykes.

Sporting a wrap around deck and sleeping 14, it's also a great weekend getaway for friends - old and new!

Patrick Kelley purchased this lodge in 1992

Why Patrick Kelley chose Sunday River

The Bear Lodge is the only rental in the area with a cedar log cabin sauna just a couple of steps from the back door. The spacious family room offers an air drying rack system for boots-ski and hiking alike-and a radiant floor providing year-round warmth, convenience and comfort.

Great spot for a bigger group. We had 13 people & it accommodated as advertised. Easy to deal with.

We didn't have great weather but the space was great & had more on hand than anticipated. The stream was a nice little perk even though the weather didn't cooperate.

Outstanding Rental Property!!

  • 5 of 5

We rented the Bear Lodge for the July 24, 2016 Tough Mountain Challenge weekend and had a great time. The house is in perfect condition and in a great location. Although we didn't use the banya, we could see that it would be a great place to relax after a day of skiing. The house is spacious and has everything that you would need. The property is private and the owners are easy to work with. Will definitely rent again when back in the area.

Fantastic place!

  • 5 of 5

A group of friends and I rented the Bear Lodge for 4th of July and it was great! The house is in perfect condition and in a great location. Coming from Boston, the drive was a little exhausting but it was definitely worth the trip! The river is good for a nice dip too!

Great Rental

  • 5 of 5

We have been renting for a ski weekend just about every year for the last five years. Each year, there's always someone new in the group, and consistenly they are blown away even though they've heard about it. The banya is great, the house is spacious and has just what you need, the property is private and the owners are easy to work with. Perfect for groups of friends or big families.

Just Right

  • 4 of 5

Despite being snowless at Sunday river my group had a hell of a time. We forged the river via canoe to find a lovely hike on snowmobile tracks, we climbed to the rocks on a mountain that the large living room window presented us with, we brought poker chips but there were more which allowed even more of the "family" to gamble, we rung in the New Year listening, watching and dancing to the Talking Heads on the entertainment system, and we went a saunaing. Oh did we sauna. So much joy was experienced and the property was well maintained and had a very homey feel. I would recommend to anyone who likes fun.

Great friends getaway!

  • 4 of 5

We recently rented this home for 7 couples all in our late 20's early 30's and really enjoyed it! The home was exactly what we were looking for - warm and inviting, but not extra fancy and expensive. The house was fully stocked with everything we needed - the only thing we needed to get was food for the weekend. There is a grocery store located 8 miles away and was very convenient! The house is private and has lots of land surrounding it, but is only 10 minutes from the full amenities of Sunday River. An added bonus was the fantastic sauna! We used the sauna everyday we were there and it was particularly nice after a long day of skiing! We would recommend this house to anyone looking to entertain a mid-sized group or that has a family with little ones. We look forward to staying again next year.

Thank you!
