Could not have been bettet
Couldn’t have been better. Beautiful house, views, and setting. We loved sitting on the deck after an afternoon swim then watching the sun set over dinner.
What great vacation!
We had never heard of Islesboro prior to our trip, but now will never forget it. Heavenly Daze was a perfect spot to spend a week relaxing and unwinding with family. The island feels so unspoiled while still providing a great place to boat, kayak, bike ride, read, and enjoy spectacular sunsets! As many others have noted, this is not a place to visit if you're looking for shopping, night life, etc. but if you are looking for a place to step out of the rat race for a week and just recharge, you won't find many better options! The house was clean and well stocked when we arrived (the s'mores fixins' were a very nice touch), and we had very little interaction with the owner. That being said, James picked up the phone immediately on the one occassion we called and was helpful and firendly. We would definitely visitn again!
Lovely vacation spot for extended family
Heavenly Daze was a perfect accommodation for our group of five: me and my husband, our 16-year-old son and his friend, and my sister-in-law. As advertised, the main house has a combined living room/dining room and kitchen that offers gorgeous views of the Penobscot Bay and coastal towns along the mainland shore. The master bedroom is extra spacious, with a bathroom with a shower, a huge walk-in closet, and flow-through access to the adjoining laundry room. The second bedroom has bunk beds that worked well for the two teenage boys, who enjoyed holing up in their own space. The apartment above the garage also comfortably accommodates additional family members (in our case, my sister-in-law), but note that there are only two showers between the main house and the apartment--not a problem for us but potentially awkward, depending on the configuration of your group. It was unusually hot during our stay (at least for Maine) and the water was unusually warm, so we spent a fair amount of our time swimming at nearby Turtle Head Cove, with special trips to Sprague's Cove and Islesboro's Town Beach on the other side of the island. We brought bikes and so felt obliged to ride them, despite enough hilly terrain to remind us how out of shape we are. There are also a few shops on the southern end of the island, including one that serves up Maine-made ice cream. A few helpful things to know: the last ferry from Lincolnville Beach runs at 5 pm. If you miss that there is no way to get your car to the island, so far as I know. If you'll be arriving in Lincolnville later in the afternoon we'd recommend calling ahead for a ferry reservation, or getting in the non-reserved vehicle line early enough to be sure you make it over to the island. (There are only a limited number of reservations; otherwise it's first come, first served.) We went back and forth to the mainland a number of times, but at $30 for a car and driver, and $11 per additional passenger, ferry service is relatively expensive, so we'd also recommend spending some time acquiring groceries on the mainland before heading over. Approaching from the south, there's a Hannaford grocery store in Rockport, as well as many specialty markets: Fresh off the Farm, State of Maine Cheese Co., and Maine Street Meats in Rockport, and Green Tree Coffee and Dot's Bakery in Lincolnville (both excellent). The reward for planning ahead is more time on the deck enjoying the bay vistas and sunsets. Heavenly Daze, indeed!
A RELAXING STAY IN A BEAUTIFUL HOME WITH AMAZING VIEWS
We recently stayed for 8 days at this terrific home. The house was equipped with everything that one might need and was very comfortable and nicely furnished. The house was also immaculate and ready for our occupancy when we arrived. The views of the ocean looking back toward the mainland were fantastic and the sunsets were truly wonderful,
There is a beautiful old Catholic Church on the Island, St Mary Of The Isles, where they hold a weekly 9AM Saturday Mass, and many other places on the Island to explore and enjoy.
Between the two markets on the island we could find everything that we needed, although they were a little pricey. So I would recommend stocking up before taking the ferry from Lincolnville (We made a round-trip reservation for our vehicle to insure our ability to be on the ferry at the time we wanted to be on). Should you be taking trips to the mainland during your stay purchase round trip tickets at the Islesboro Ferry terminal as they are half the price you pay at Lincolnville and save the return trip initially purchased at Lincolnville for your final return to the mainland.
A stay at this home on Islesboro is a wonderful experience.
This is our second year and we spent ten days at Heavenly Daze in August. We hiked and biked and saw a bald eagle, osprey, deer, rabbits and even a seal. We spent time relaxing on the deck and enjoyed glorious sunsets. We grilled hamburgers and chicken on the grill and had raspberries picked in the yard for breakfast. The house has everything you need to vacation in comfort and the owners and caretaker are very responsive. In addition, the community on the island is welcoming and very safe. This is the perfect place for relaxing and enjoying nature.
Gorgeous location. Immaculate. Great place to retreat, regroup before reentering again.
We loved our stay at Heavenly Daze. Quiet and serene. Loons, deer, mink, herons. Great for walkind and canoeing or kayaking. Perfection vacation spot for enjoying nature and family. It is not a spot to visit if you are looking for urban night life.
