About Janet Maddux
I grew up in Taiwan and my husband was from Indiana. We have lived many places since Joe worked for Fed-Ex before he retired. We traveled many places overseas and in America. Our son is with Coast Guard and we traveled to wherever he stationed. When our children were young, we did a lot of camping. Now, we really enjoy our home away from home. We enjoyed our new house very much. It is very peaceful, with spectacular view. Joe loves to just sit on the couch (used to be on the couch, now he sits in the sunroom)and ocean gaze. Or get up middle of the night sitting in the dark on the second floor looking for Aurora, or looking at the stars on a clear night. Spectacular sunset and sunrise on the beach, birds watch, marine lives, shipping lane, summer time w/cruise lines. There are always something going on on the beach, never a dull moment. I had been here with my sister in February of this year and decided to book it for my vacation. The house is very comfortable. The kitchen is well equipped and the upstairs area is my favorite spot to just while away the hours. The sunroom is wonderful too. Views are marvelous and the beach is great as well. Lots of wildlife around. Birds and otters and seals. I plan on booking this place again.
It was amazing.
Our family from Wisconsin and Sequim came together for a small family reunion and could not have been more pleased. The ever changing natural beauty and wildlife was amazing. The property was extremely clean and well stocked. Planning to return.
Beautiful location!!! The sunroom is a huge plus; super comfy beds, great kitchen.
A lovely home with everything and only 1 hour from Hurricane Ridge!
It only takes about an hour to get to Hurricane Ridge, but the best thing about this place is the view - just breathtaking. The area is quiet and suitable for walks next to the water or on the roads. One can see both a sunrise and a sunset. The birds congregate in front of the house just bobbing and flying. We saw seals, a bald eagle, great blue hero and many seagulls.
The house is great. There is a fire pit (that even had some wood left) with chairs. The kitchen has a large gas stove and was very complete. When we rent places on the East coast, one needs to bring spices and the like. This place had them. The w/d was excellent and the furniture appropriate and comfy. The main bed was good. But we spent most of the time outside on the decks or on the glassed in porch. And they even had binoculars! It was nice to have a separate sitting area and deck upstairs so we could do different things with the others in our group.
Janet was great to work with. She allowed us to arrive early and was quick with the deposit refund.
I heartily recommend this place!
Attractions of a resort; Amenities of home.
Borrowed a week of paradise from Janet in her waterfront home with family, seals (or otters?), bald eagles and a few porpoises. Enjoyed the sun - and even more so, the rain - in the sun room. Mount Baker was visible in the early morning light of the sunrise, and the sunsets were spectacular as the sun dipped below the cloud ceiling.
The house is well appointed with a full kitchen and sharp knives. Plenty of pillows and blankets are available, and we really appreciated the binoculars Janet left for us. We made excellent use of the fire pit and met the friendly neighbors.
One bit of advice - you're a long way from the nearest grocer and market, so be sure to stop to get your supplies before you check in.
Janet was very nice to speak with and offered local advice on a number of subjects.
Overall an excellent experience. Thank you! Hope to stay again some day!
Lovely, comfortable and peaceful
What a fantastic place to spend a week while exploring the Olympic Peninsula. The sunrises and sunsets over the water were lovely. Watching the sea life from the deck was fascinating (thanks for lending the binoculars!) It was peaceful and quiet. The beds were comfortable and all the little extras (coffee filters, spices, ice chest to borrow, laundry soap, etc.) were very much appreciated! It's about a 8 minute drive from the main highway-but a pretty drive! Thank you Janet, for sharing your lovely home.
