The other reviewers have said it all - we agree!

We had a very fine stay here for an October week - including the unexpected: the earliest snow in the region for 40 years! The home is perfectly equipped and very well maintained, and Jean provided all the assistance we needed (which turned out to be very little, as no problems or concerns ever developed). Except for the absence of a local bakery (which of course we knew about from the owner's information), the village was charming, and the location very convenient for our day trips to Dijon, Beaune, Vezelay, Autun, Fontenay, and Semur-en-Auxois. Recommended without hesitation.

Fantastic French Vacation

  • 5 of 5

This lovely property totally exceeded all of our expectations! We were able to sample French culture in a small village setting, yet have accessibility to major attractions such as wineries, canal rides, and major cities such as Dijon. We walked to dinner at a chateau that had meals comparable to the finest restaurants in Paris. The village is utterly charming and views from the property are amazing. The charming owner was very communicative, provided suggestions of activities in the area, and was available should we have needed anything, but we didn't because he had anticipated it all. The house was well stocked with basic needs. Our deposit was returned immediately. We couldn't have had a better time in Burgundy!

ETE 2015

Herrlich erholsam

  • 5 of 5

Völlig entspannter Urlaub in wunderschönem Haus

  • 5 of 5

Exceptional property; highest quality; perfect!

  • 5 of 5

We have rented several properties in Europe and this one is at the very top of the list. Description and photos don't begin to describe the quality and beauty of this property. Clean, modern, roomy with views out every window; every convenience in an unmatched setting of valley views, complete serenity; and comfort. You will love sitting out on the deck admiring the views and will enjoy the lovely garden courtyard. House is complete with everything you need to relax and be at home. Even CD player and excellent wi-fi service.

Jean is an exceptional owner who treats you like a guest--not as a "renter." He is delightful; helpful and flexible. You must have dinner at Les Roches--the only restaurant currently open in the village. We sat out on the terrace one evening and had a fantastic time. Food, service and setting were outstanding. And the prix fixe menu is a great value for the money.

Mont St Jean is a very central location for touring Cote d'Or. Pretty much all major sites are within a one hour drive in any direction. Our favorites were Dijon; Flavigny; and Semur-en-Auxios. Please note: for those of you looking for a town with shops; markets; restaurants and any sign of activity, Mont St Jean is not the place for you. But...if you like peace and quiet and a village made for exploring, then this is for you.

Would I recommend to a friend or relative? Would I come back? YES; YES; YES!! We stayed four nights; next time --and there will be a next time--we will come for a week.
