About Greg Chapman
My family loves the outdoors, I spent summers as a kid in Northern Wisconsin where I learned to love the North Woods, and traveled to every corner of the US. Leland is the best place I've ever seen for the greatest variety in outdoor activity. Leelanau Peninsula brings families together. Never boring, always something new to see and do. Friends and family marvel at the spectacular scenery and wealth of outdoor activity, great food and wineries in Leelanau County. Every day is a new adventure if you seek it. Bring lots of friends and family or just yourself and you will not run out of things to do.
Greg Chapman purchased this House in 2004
Why Greg Chapman chose Leland
We bought home #35267 after years of vacationing in Leelanau County. It is the one place we can all agree to get away to. M22 is not just a road in Paradise, its a way of life. We never run out of things to do, and always regret not having more time to spend up here. Everything is just minutes away. You don't even need a car! In Leland, we can walk anywhere--and we do. You can market shop every day, walk to the beach, library, parks, Fishtown, the Mercantile, school, and restaurants. You will ask yourself why you don't live here! Leland and the Leelanau Peninsula gets in your blood, and how many places can really do that for you? We knew this was THE place for us after our first visit in 1997. In fact, we wanted more room for our family and friends so we built another home next door. Our primary rental property is #35267. We use House #829083 for our own family.
What makes this House unique
A short walk to everything we want to enjoy, including shops, Fishtown and beaches. Walk to Fishtown along Lake Street while you look out over the bluffs of Lake Michigan. No need for a car. Our location leaves more time for fun, less time spent getting from here to there and back again. It makes for a very efficient, hassle-free vacation. The houses are set up to accommodate two-four families or a very large group, with combined total of 13 beds and two futons, 6 1\2 bathrooms. Lots of dining space, indoors and out on the deck. Large kitchens, plenty of beds, cool shade and proximity to Fishtown.
Minimum age of primary renter:30
Rent payor must occupy the house. No sub letting.
100% refund for cancellations more than 60 days before check-in date.
Lacked items that we needed and we had to go and buy; more towels & washcloths and an iron. Micromanaged us, we set some items out of the car, by the garage (umbrella, small tote, etc) while taking daughter's wedding gown to lodge, they text us to ask about it. No battery in smoke detector. Weak internet.
GREAT location, clean house.
We weren't there much and didn't use dishes or anything. Basically showered, slept & visited. It was plenty large to accommodate our group.
Sorry if you felt “micromanaged” but a photo was sent to me by my housekeeper next door and since it looked odd, I asked about it. Housekeeper claims the normal number of towels were placed in the house so I guess that’s an anomaly—never had an issue like that in 15 years. I will gladly reimburse you for your towel purchase if you provide a receipt. Lastly, FYI, the smoke alarms are each hard wired to house current.
Great location, close to Leland
Home was clean and spacious, although there were only 6 of us, it would be a great place for a larger group. We would definitely come back.
Please, come back often and bring more folks!
Perfect house layout and house in great shape. Do not need car can walk everywhere in Leland
House was perfect for my family of 6 plus one daughters husband for total of 7. Could have comfortably fit more people as one bedroom on top floor with 2 single beds was not needed, as well as double bed in front room and tops of the 2 bunk beds. Living room was very comfortable and though large had a cozy feeling. Add to that the large dining table off the kitchen and makes a great house for a vacation.
A few other things that added to the wonderful experience. There is a nice patio off the kitchen where you can gather. Fast WiFi from a top of the line linksys WiFi router combo with both 2.4 ghz and 5.0 ghz plus plenty of repeaters around the house so there are no dead spots. This is critical in Leland where your cell phone reception is spotty.
If you compare the price of what you get - to other homes in the area - this is by far the best value based on my 10+ vacations in Leland.
Greg - the owner - was very responsive to my questions when we rented his home. Since nothing was wrong with the home there was no need to contact him during our stay but I bet he would have been quick to respond.
If you want a nice vacation in Leland you cannot go wrong with this house
Everything was great!
We were in town for a wedding, so we didn't have much time to enjoy the house. It worked out great for all of us, plenty of room for our large group. We did feel a little too cramped to the house next door. Overall it was a great house!
Thanks for staying with us and being good guests. One of the benefits many of our guests enjoy is the ability to rent two houses as close to each other as is legally permissible. I hope you get an opportunity to do that on one of your future vacations!
A Quiet Retreat just Minutes from Town
This home has so many great gathering places for family and friends. There are several levels for quiet getaways and a shady deck where everyone can gather. There's a big dining table and a great kitchen for cooking. The lower level is made for kids with bunk beds and a laundry. Be aware there is no air conditioning, but there are fans in all the bedrooms which helped during the heatwave week we vacationed. We juggled family members coming in and out all week and the owner was so accommodating! Thank you for the hospitality! We all agreed we would love to return to this home.
Glad you enjoyed your stay! CENTRAL AIR ADDED IN JANUARY 2017!!
The Willows Wine Weekend
Just returned from a fabulous weekend in this great house in Leland,, we had 10 girls on a wine weekend.. it is our anual trip to the area and we will be back next year and will surely stay in this house again..It was very clean and the new carpet was wonderful!! The kitchen was large enough for more than one to cook and the deck was beautiful with the changing of the colors..
Leland, in the heart of wine country touring, less than 10 minutes to Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore, Canoeing, Alpine Skiing, Nordic Skiing, Snowshoeing, Petoskey Stones at the beach, deep Lake fishing for Salmon and Lake Trout from Leland Harbor. Five minute walk to Lake Michigan beaches, seven minutes walk to Fishtown. Fly fishing in nearby rivers, lakes, ponds and creeks. Golf. Hiking. Biking. Miles of secluded beaches. Ferry to the Manitou Islands. Great locally grown produce. There is only one Leland, but you know that already. We are in the middle of it.
