An apartment with character in a great location.

For a week in this busy interesting area of Paris, this apartment was spacious and comfortable and my family enjoyed themselves thoroughly. It's in an old style building with high ceilings and big windows leading out to a balcony overlooking the street. However in August , it was very hot and when the windows were open, the noise from the street below made it very difficult to sleep at night. There were no fans provided, although I did inquire about that and it was confirmed that they would be there when we arrived.

The place was clean, but it was a pity that the flower pots on the balcony and windows were neglected and full of dead foliage. Flowers in the planters and light switches which worked would have made a big difference to the atmosphere in the apartment.

Apart from that we had no complaints. There are lots of shops around to buy food and the Boulangerie across the road was a home from home.

Great location, dated interior, too hot in summer

We chose this apartment for its location as members of our party have fond memories of living closeby many, many years ago. The pictures were helpful and gave an accurate view of the dated interior.

I honestly wouldn't recommend more that 4 people. We had five and it was fairly close quarters. Lovely bath towels were provided but there was no bathroom soap so be prepared to bring your own (you might need extra toilet paper too).

The most difficult aspects of our stay was to do with communication. From a 2013 owner comment, we trusted that there would be fans provided, especially since July was one of the hottest in Western Europe. We tried to ask for them but they were never provided as the property manager had to contact the owner and then get back to us. By the time this happened, all stores were sold out of fans and our trip was almost over. I would strongly recommend at least 2 fans be provided in the summer, especially since Rue St Germain can be extremely noisy with road construction.

Our other concern was that there was no internet connection, which was promised as a part of the rental agreement. We asked about this several times and were given no functional assistance, which was extremely frustrating since several members of our party had to be in contact with home. Thank goodness for the friendly cafes nearby with great coffee and free internet! In the future we're going to make sure to only rent owner operated apartments as the chain of communication with managers was too difficult for this length of stay & added too much stress to our visit. That said, we love Paris and we love this neighbourhood!

Clean, a bit outdated, good location

As Americans, we know to expect quaint, vintage, charming apartments in Europe. This apartment was a typical one in an old building. The elevator will only hold one person and perhaps a bag. We sent the bags up one by one with someone to receive them on the other end.

The electricity was operating and the free WiFi was great!! It was very needed to plan excursions and to keep in touch with relatives at home (very important, I was traveling with a teen who needed to communicate with her mother).

The building is very old: the water closet (toilet only) is separate from the bathroom, the kitchen is in between. We kept washing our hands in the kitchen sink! Unfortunately, the socket with the tea kettle and coffee maker did not work or I did not figure out if it was on a separate switch. I did not email the owner about it. Also, to her credit, she tried to have the bathroom (not water closet) door knob fixed before we got there but the repair person did not do a good job and the knob fell off as soon as we entered the apartment. She promised to have someone look at it when we checked out.

The apartment was very warm, which was ok, because April in Paris is cool but we saw no signs of AC in case anyone wants to stay there in summer (which is typical for many buildings in Europe).

This apartment was what we expected as experienced travelers to Europe but not for one of our first-timers who is not accustomed to traveling outside of resorts in the US. I would stay here again.

Perfect for our family of four!

We stayed in this apartment for one week. It was perfect for a family of four (2 adults and 2 teenagers). We were able to spread out and have our own space which is important when traveling with teens. The location was very central in the Latin Quarter which was a real treat. The fact that there is a market just below us is not to be missed. We ate in the apartment often and appreciated the proximity of the store...and all of the other stores, cafes, etc. around. It is pretty noisy in the early morning on Blvd. St. Germain but the back room was not so bad for quiet. We just attributed the noise to "city living". One thing to note is that there is no shower, only a bathtub, which could be slippery for less able people. I would recommend this to anyone who wants a feel for a central city apartment - who doesn't need top shelf luxury but wants good solid practicality. We certainly would stay there again.

Excellent location, average accomodations

The exceptional location is really what this apartment has going for it. Located right on Blvd St. Germain, its very convenient to the sights and sounds of Paris, public transportation, a taxi rank down the street, plenty of restaurants/cafes/bistro, the weekly markets, grocery stores, etc. The negative: the Blvd is very busy...heavy, loud and incessant traffic noise, day and night. In cooler months with the windows closed this would present less of a problem but in July, with no AC or fans provided (we were told prior to booking that there would fans), the +35 C temps required the windows to be left open overnight...but the incredible noise made it impossible to sleep. The listing description was accurate...its basic and spacious and has a balcony which is terrific. Furnishings are sparse, the beds in the two bedrooms were comfortable, there was plenty of hot water and the free WIFI was fast/excellent. The kitchen needs some serious work: the fridge is in desperate need of being defrosted (it really didn't keep things very cold), the freezer door was missing entirely so the freezer was largely ineffectual. There could be a few more dishes on hand. Lots of burnt out light bulbs throughout the apartment...and it could have been a little cleaner. We've been renting apartments annually in Paris for 15 years....the practice of this apartment to retain a very hefty security deposit was not only unusual, it took 6 weeks to have the deposit returned. Overall, a decent apartment in a terrific location that needs a little TLC.

We took in consideration of providng fans for the summer time in the apartment. Even though we would love to install air-conditioning, however it is forbidden to install them in most of the historic buildings in the center of Paris. SECURITY DEPOSIT: is handled through the Visa or Mastercard, we'll automatically authorize a guest's credit card for the deposit 15 days prior to check-in. We release it back to the guest after the checkout date, if no damages are reported. Since security deposits are authorizations for a charge and not a true charge, this release may appear as a refund on a credit card statement, or the authorization may have been deleted from the account entirely as it was not a true charge. Providing our guests with the best possible hospitality and service has always been our mission. We have re-arranged the kitchen since (more dishes, pots and pans were added) , we added more lights and they are all in order in the apartment. We want you to know that we truly enjoy sharing our passion for our destination with visitors and want you to walk out the door feeling refreshed. If you come back to our apartment I would love to have the opportunity to speak with you directly, so please ask for me. We hope to see you again in the future and wish you the very best.

Excellent Location, Great Balcony, Lots of Space

This lovely apartment has the best location ever! - if you're looking for the Left Bank and want a cool but fun neighborhood to see Paris from. Do not miss the Sunday market, just around the corner. We especially appreciated the balcony and nice dining/living room as we were there with our three kids and everyone seemed to have enough space....a rarity in big cities. We loved the historical feel to the place, its' wood floors, cool paint colors. Our only complaint, really, was the kitchen. It's tiny - which we knew, but it didn't really have much in the way of cooking tools, pots and pans. It was difficult to make even breakfast.

But, the apartment is quite nice, clean and spacious for Paris. Didier was an excellent host, we enjoyed his restaurant down the street and HomeAway is a very attentive company. I would definitely use them again.

The Latin Quarter is one of the oldest districts in Paris, and has been home of French higher education for over 700 years. The area is renowned for its medieval sites and churches, its colorful market streets and traditional restaurants. For those wishing to visit much of historic Paris on foot, this apartment is ideal. At the end of the same street is the Pantheon, where Victor Hugo, Voltaire and many other French heroes are buried. A five minute walk from the apartment brings you to Notre Dame Cathedral and the islands of Ile de la Cité and Ile Saint Louis. The Sorbonne University, Luxembourg Gardens, the Cluny Medieval Museum see bleow photo) and the lively Maubert food market and Boulevards Saint Michel and Saint Germain are all just a 10 minute walk from the studio, and an additional 5 minutes of walking brings you to the Louvre Museum, the heart of the Saint Germain district (with its interior design and antique shops, restaurants and cafés), or in the Marais quarter. Not to be missed is the lively market street of Rue Moufftard just a few streets away from the studio apartment.
