As travelers ourselves my wife and I have been renting out our Heritage House Garden Suite since 2009. Over that time we have had the great pleasure of hosting folks from around the world. We have made some great friends and always look forward to adding a new visitor to our world map which shows where all our visitors have come from. Vancouver as you well know if one of the most awesome cities in the world. We hosted the 2010 Winter games which put us on the map. If you are a sports fan our Vancouver Whitecaps Soccer team has just entered the MLS and they play just next door from the Vancouver Canucks at BC Place. As a hockey fan you will be able to see our Vancouver Canucks. If you are a music fan Vancouver hosts the annual Vancouver Folk Festival in July, and the Burnaby Blues Festival in August as well as our International Jazz Festival in late June and early July. Add to that numerous arts and music festivals throughout the lower mainland. Just want to wallow in nature. From the "Heights" you will see three major ski mountains - Mount Seymour, Cypress Mountain and Grouse and a bit further away is Whistler, voted number one ski resort in North American many years in a row and the major venue for the 2010 Olympics along with Cypress Mountain. Hiking, boating, sailing, bicycling, eating, drinking, dancing, running, playing, partying. Vancouver has it all. Stay with a couple who has lived in Vancouver for many years and can point you in the direction of many activities that only the locals know.

About The Owner

My wife and I have traveled extensively throughout Southeast Asia and Europe as well as North and Central America. I was in the import furniture business and I also dable in travel photographer. We enjoy meeting new travelers and exchanging information and stories of our travels. We have a large family who also enjoy travellng and when younger were always trekking along at our side. I am a aspiring musician who when I have guests tries really hard to keep down the sounds of my guitar. We are avid music fans and attend many music events in the Vancouver and whenever we travel. Your suite will be furnished with my photographs as well as some furniture and decorative items from our travels.

If you would like to stay in one of Vancouver's nicest and most treed neighborhoods as well as relax in our oasis of a backyard and avoid the buzz of the big city and the generic hotel scene this could be your place. Even though we are just across the border into Burnaby we are closer to most major lower mainland sites than staying in Vancouver. Google us and you will see our great location.

Our suite has a great outdoor garden space which is just out the door. Use your own private terrace or you can use the lounging area in our garden. If you enjoy fresh vegetables you are more than welcome to pick from our vegetable garden depending on the time of year. Love hiking, you will find some great hiking trails just minutes away or just enjoy our beautiful neighborhood and its lovely streets.

Better than the pictures!! Stunning garden!!

This place was amazing!!! The house was clean, wonderfully stocked and beautiful!! The garden was out of this world and so amazing we hardly wanted to go out, but when we did it was awesomely located just blocks from many great restaurants, cafes, grocery stores and deli's, parks and trails; as well as being right by an amusement park. The hosts were very friendly as well as knowledgeable and helpful. We brought out 1 year old with us and he had a wonderful time. We should definitely recommend this for anyone of any age as it has so many options so close by!!

Lovely getaway!

The host was welcoming, helpful, considerate and very responsive. The location is a great place to be visiting Vancouver as you are 10 min downtown but just across the way from North Vancouver to hit Lynn Canyon, Grouse, hwy to Squamish, Whistler, etc. Great running trail 2 blocks north of location, and close shops, grocery, etc. Suite has all the amenities, and more! Lovely gardens to enjoy as well!

Great location and great owner.

This is a well maintained property that is perfectly located for seeing all that Vancouver has to offer. It is situated in a quiet neighborhood with easy access to all of Vancouver major thoroughfares. Gordon, the owner, is exceptionally friendly and appears to have the ability to judge just how much privacy you want versus your desire to socialize. He is a wealth of information about everything that is Vancouver and especially aware of current offerings such as music festivals, speciality markets, and other events. We would not hesitate to stay with Gordon again should we return to Vancouver.

Lovely property in a great location - the apartment is an ideal base for exploring Vancouver. A very clean and comfortable rental to relax in after a long day sightseeing in Vancouver - extremely comfortable bed! The apartment is tastefully decorated and equipped with everything you might need during your stay. There's also a beautifully maintained garden to the rear entrance of the property, and convenient parking. Gordon was the perfect host - very welcoming and provided lots of useful information about the area, but also respectful of his guest's privacy. Prompt communication when booking, and the check-in/check-out process was very straightforward. I cannot recommend this property enough!

Exactly What We Needed

We stayed here for five days prior to an Alaska cruise. It proved to be a perfect location for sightseeing, shopping and day trips around Vancouver. The proximity to the Trans-Canada Highway was a great feature, but we also used the bus service for a day downtown without the parking hassles. The area was quiet and peaceful, yet close to good restaurants and grocery stores. Gordon was exceptionally accommodating and a super communicator through the booking process and in helping us get settled, but left us to ourselves during our stay. He also assembled a very practical package of information and maps. The newspaper left by our doorstep each evening was another nice touch. The unit had great parking and a beautiful entry through the garden. All was as described, most importantly, a comfortable bed, big flatscreen with lots of channels, good fridge, stove, washer and dryer. My only issues related to minor details, such as a few "tired" pots and casserole dishes, but easily overlooked given the value, setting and numerous positive features. Highly recommended.

Great Stay! Great Host!

We enjoyed our 9 day stay at this lovely little "apartment." Gordon was a wonderful host. All the supplies we needed to make coffee or tea in the morning were supplied. A large Safeway is a close drive. The garden is beautiful, even though we didn't get much of a chance to use it due to the weather. Two things really stood out. The first, as my husband was working in the space, he needed to sit at the kitchen table for long periods of time. I asked if Gordon had a more comfortable chair available, and he happily brought down one that was easier on my poor husband's back. We also really enjoyed, and utilized the maps and "day trip" descriptions Gordon provided in the apartment. It made finding our way around Vancouver so much easier, and the information on the less touristy places was invaluable. Highly recommend.

Even though our home is physically in Burnaby we are only 4 houses away from the Vancouver border. You will be closer to many Vancouver locations than actually staying in Vancouver. Vancouver has some of the most spectacular scenery and outdoor activities in the world. You are only minutes away from 3 major ski hills. 25 minute away from the famous "Grouse Grind" Many of our guests have had the honor of completing this must do Vancouver activity. Nature abounds in our neighborhood with the Trans Canada trail just minutes from us. 1/2 block away is a great park with tennis courts and walking trails. The PNE "Pacific National Exhibition" grounds is a short walk and will give you the opportunity to ride one of the biggest wooden roller coasters in North America. Many restaurants dot the Heights with traditional to ethnic in abundance. Pretty well every ethnic food is represented within a short walk of our home. Sports, you can see BC place from our house. BC Lions for football and the Whitecaps for Soccer. Rogers Arena, next doors hosts the Vancouver Canucks. Just a walk down the hill and you will find Pacific Coliseum, old home of the Canucks and now the home of our Junior hockey team, the Giants. Downtown Vancouver with all its great clubs, restaurants and bars is just a short bus ride away. Burnaby hosts the Burnaby Blues Festival in August and of course we have the Vancouver Folk Festival in early July. A must for any music fan. The Squamish Music Festival and the Pemberton Festival are two of the top contemporary music festivals on the summer circuit. Looking for some Counter Culture. Main Street and The Drive are minutes away and offer great shopping, cool coffee shops and tons of awesome eats. Food trucks - just over the bridge to the Londale Quay for the Friday Nite Market, not to be missed. Deep Cove, a great destination and the setting for the TV drama series Cedar Cove. A must for sight seeing, kayaking, paddle boarding and sailing. Harmony Arts Festival in August. Just over the bridge and down the highway to West Vancouver. And it goes on and on. Our guests who have stayed 2 weeks or more say they "ran out of time" My wife and I have lived here for over 25 years and have a very good handle of the vibe of the city.
