There is one TV in the living room with a DVD player and small library of family friendly movies. There is a second TV/VCR in the kids bedroom. If you don't want to be completely disconnected from the rest of the world there is high speed internet with WIFI and a land line phone.

The Cranberry Lake region is one of the largest remote areas in the state. Just south of the lake are thousands of acres of hills, lakes, ponds, and virgin forests. There are countless hiking trails in the area, numerous State Parks, and you are only 40 minutes away from the high peaks region where you'll find some of the most scenic trails anywhere in the country.

Why Dahl Angus chose Cranberry Lake

Cranberry Lake in the Adirondacks is a scenic, still lake surrounded by mountainous terrain and plentiful opportunities for outdoor adventure. It is the third largest lake the Adirondacks, behind Lake George and Raquette Lake. The lake is vast, nearly 7,000 acres, and so has a wide range of depth. While the average depth of Cranberry Lake is only six feet deep, large areas are past the 20 and 30 feet marks.

If you’re looking for a great place for activities in the water, Cranberry Lake is a true haven for watersports. Visitors enjoy boating, rafting, kayaking, canoeing, paddling and more. Fishing is also very popular in the Cranberry Lake region. The lake itself is stocked with trout to encourage the sport, and nearby rivers also offer excellent trout fishing.

Various trails in the Cranberry Lake region make the area an ideal spot for hiking and exploring, from beginner to intermediate hikers. Enjoy trails in the Cranberry Lake Wild Forest, Western Parcel, Northwestern Parcel, Eastern Parcel and Five Ponds Wilderness Area.

Just east of Cranberry Lake village, there is a public campground and day-use area maintained by the Department of Environmental Conservation (DEC). Here you'll find a picnic area, fishing pier, beach for swimming and bathhouses. There are also graded areas for tents or trailers, water outlets, toilets, a trailer pump-out station and showers. Handicapped accessible campsites are also available. There is a public boat launch on the Oswegatchie River located on Columbian Road.

Spacious home on picturesque lake. Quiet neighborhood.

  • 4 of 5

Very nice 1970's lake home on a quiet lake (Cranberry Lake). Home was as advertised. Spacious porches overlooking lake, with boathouse/rowboat plus canoes. Driveway requires a little backing/turning to navigate the hill down to the house, but we quickly learned the routine. Neighbor is a long-term knowledgeable resident of the area and a very nice person. Area is not as developed as say, Lake Placid, so fewer restaurants, etc. Overall a very nice lake home - we would certainly consider staying again.

Everything was exactly as described on VRBO. Great location. Loved being able to take the canoe out each and every morning to see amazing sunrises. Would definitely rent this cabin again!

Very relaxing, spacious house

  • 4 of 5

We thoroughly enjoyed our time at this Cranberry Lake rental. The porch overlooking the water and the separate additional screened in portion of the porch were wonderful. There was plenty of room for my family (with one child) and my brother's family (with 3 children). The kitchen was well stocked with pots and pans, cutlery and all items needed for cooking. The bedrooms were just as described and I can vouch for the king size bed being very comfortable. We had one rainy day that we spent doing puzzles, watching movies and playing games. The local stores has the basics food wise. I was glad that we brought a lot of groceries with us. Also nice was that it was only a short drive to the Cranberry Lake campground where we went on a hike to Bear Mountain and enjoyed the beach. The owner was very responsive to any questions that came up.

A wonderful week on Cranberry Lake

  • 5 of 5

We had a wonderful week at the Bryant camp (August 6-13, 2016). It was a a hot week, and the water off the dock gets deep and cool fast. It was great swimming in the August heat. The big lake cooperated (wind and weather-wise), and we easily paddled from the camp on the north end to Joe Indian Island, Slide Rock, Elephant Rock, and even into "town" for ice cream. While we brought 2 canoes, we really enjoyed the use of the tandem kayak at the camp as well. The camp is very comfortable, clean, and exactly like the pictures. The big deck is a wonderful spot to listen to the loons in the morning or evening. There were some wonderful surprises. First, we found a book on the shelf "What the Hell: A History of Cranberry Lake" that mentioned our grandfather in a few stories when he was Director of the ESF Biological Field Station. Wow! What fun!! Then, we discovered that the next door neighbors were old family friends! SUNY ESF roots run deep on Cranberry Lake~~ So, how could we not love it? Thank you!

Adirondack lake house

  • 3 of 5

The house was really pretty & offered a lot of amenities. The owners allowed us to use their kayak (a double), canoe & paddleboat. Our kids especially enjoyed the paddleboat. The house had a nice size kitchen and the beds were really comfortable. Also, there were plenty of paper towels & toilet paper (the lack of these items has become a real pet peeve for me. When I spend top dollar for a rental I expect to have at least enough toilet paper for my stay which is rare these days sadly! One bedroom did not have a door which made things a little difficult for those sleeping in that room as it was right off the kitchen. I LOVED that I was not asked to clean the entire house when we were leaving. I am so DONE with that type of vacation rental. The town only has one store and no one rents paddle boards which would have been fun for the kids. We had to spend the day in Long Lake to get some paddle boarding in. Overall, I would recommend this rental.
