This place is simply beautiful.. the pictures do not make justice to the house! The space is biggger than expected and it has everything!
The projector was a smart move!
It is a no brainer...
and Greta, ofcourse was very accesible and helpful!!
We rented Greta's house for a ski weekend and it was so much worth it. Great experience and we felt as if we were home. Everything was very clean and organized. We will definitely rent this house again in the future. Thanks Greta!
We had a wonderful time at Greta's house. First-Greta was so nice to deal with, we had a death in our family and had to reschedule this rental and she was so kind and accommodating. I really appreciated that. Second, we just loved the house. It's cozy and eclectic. There's a great collection of books and dvd's, and the location is fantastic. We really appreciated that this is a true four season home-it was warm and everything worked perfectly during our stay. Wonderful wood stove. Beautiful views. Extremely comfortable house - we had a really relaxing, fun weekend. We are definitely coming back in the Summertime.
I enjoyed my weekend in this cabin. It has everything that a cabin should and then some. It could use some repair here and there. The cleaning crew could do a better job too. Great location. Plenty of sleeping places. Small but adequate kitchen. Nice bathrooms. Lots of light throughout the entire place. Greta was great to deal with and gave great communication throughout the process.
for the family of 4 it was fantastic, offered a lot of space inside, plus large deck
very private, yet close to major roads & phoenicia town with grocery store & good selection of food & watering holes
pond & creek are within short walking distance, enormous advantage during hot, muggy days
outstanding selection of books.
we would've liked one more pedestal rotating fan, as the weather got extremely hot & humid (hurricane leftovers)
that was most likely once-a-10 year event, though
additional showerhead would be helpful as well.
clean & well maintained.
we would recommend this place to anyone.
overall, on a scale of 1 to 10, i feels as 9
Greta was great at communicating with us from the time we made the reservation and throughout our stay. Her house was well located for our Catskill Mountain ramblings, close to the center of Phoenicia, 20 minutes from Woodstock, hiking trails nearby, and Esopus River swimming up the road. The house is situated on a quiet, dirt road giving us the secluded feeling we were looking for; however, based on the reviews, we did not feel the same about the house as past renters. Upon arrival, we noticed that the yard was overgrown (someone came to mow the house a few days after we arrived) and the house was not well-cleaned (someone's hair still on the sheets and the floors not vacuumed). We changed the sheets and gave our kids the main bedroom since our oldest child has a dust allergy and the sleeping loft was extremely dusty and the pull-out couch in the living room was quite "tired"; it's cover had not been removed in a while and it too was quite dusty (needs to be replaced). Greta was very responsive and sent the cleaner to vacuum and clean the floors. She also purchased a new vacuum for the house. The house has tons of character, a great projector tv, all the basic necessities, and a nice porch. All in all, we felt the house was in need of a thorough cleaning and a bit of tender, loving, care (TLC). It is obvious that at one time this was a well-loved house with a great, many memories attached. Unfortunately, we were not particularly fond of our stay and left a day early.
