The Perfect Tiny Place

  • 5 of 5

The perfect place for our girls' getaway. The house layout is very efficient and is well stocked. The views are amazing and Judy is just an email or call away! Rented kayaks that were delivered right to the water. Would definitely come back!! Oh, Port Cafe down the road is highly recommended.

Owner's Response: Hi Meg, I have a future renter who read your review and is wondering who it was you rented kayaks from that delivered them to you? Also, thank you for your very kind review!! Judy

It was everything I hoped for.

  • 5 of 5

A very charming tiny cottage and the view from the deck was spectacular! It had everything I needed with quality bed linens, yes I'm kind of a bedding snob. LOL

It was very, very peaceful and the sunrise was always beautiful. I really couldn't of asked for more. Judy was extremely pleasant and always helpful. We will be going back. Thank you Judy!

Wonderful, if you like tiny living.

  • 3 of 5

My wife and I decided on this house because of its proximity to the wineries, to Geneva, and to the lake. We knew we were going to be out and about exploring, so we didn't think the size would be much of an issue.

To start, the owners are wonderful. Quick to respond to anything, offering any help they could, and had a wonderful home available. The house was in good shape, and everything was as advertised. They were helpful when we wanted to extend our stay by a night, and didn't make it a hassle at all!

The house is furnished as you'd expect from the pictures. There is almost no yard to speak of because the house is practically ON the lake. This was wonderful for adding ambiance in the evenings, just listening to the lake as we drank wine and played games.

The reason we can only give three stars is simple, and has everything to do with us, and nothing to do with the home or the owners: we don't like tiny living as much as we might have thought, and weren't prepared for the tininess! We thought there may be a bit more room in the loft and bathroom, but with the wide angle lenses used, it hides the smallness. My wife is 5' 3", and she had to bend over to get to the bed in the loft. (I'm 6' 3", so needless to say, I had a bigger challenge with it). The bed itself left my wife with about 8-12" of clearance from the roof/ceiling. Then there was the bathroom, and mainly the shower. I could go on, but I'll just say it was too small for either of us. My arms and shoulders got well acquainted with the walls. The rest of the house was fine, but left us cluttered for lack of storage space (for clothes and wine purchases).

Again, the house was fine, and the owners great. We just weren't prepared for tiny living. Be sure you are if you rent this house! :)

Owner's Response: Thank you for your review. And I dispute not a thing. It is Tiny Living, as I advertise. I do dispute one thing I guess. I didn't use a wide angle lens for the photos because I don't have that capability. I took these pictures with my phone. :) I am so happy you wrote your review the way you did. I do try to accommodate renters and help in every way I can and the cottage is kept very clean and well stocked. But yes, it is tiny. I sometimes stress over a renter being uncomfortable and surprised when they get there but you have made it clear about the size. I am 5'5" and don't actually have a problem with the shower or the bathroom size. My husband is 6' and seems okay with the shower since we only actually enjoy the cottage a few days here and there. But he sleeps on the day bed downstairs because it is difficult for him to move in the loft. Our hope is to raise the ceiling and enlarge the cottage eventually but for now, it remains tiny and we love it!!

Fantastic didn't want to leave!

  • 5 of 5

We loved staying at this little cabin, it was perfect for us, clean and comfortable. We used the kitchen a lot making at least 2 meals a day, everything was there that we needed! We had the best time kayaking and even ventured to Watkins Glen for a hike. Enjoyed close by Geneva. This was the perfect getaway for us! Hoping to bring our children someday!! Thank you Judy!!

  • 5 of 5

My 2 friends and I wanted a little getaway weekend and this was the perfect spot! Despite the rainy weather we enjoyed the quiet and tiny living we experienced! Such a cute and quaint home and would highly recommend and did to many friends. Thank you for lending your home to us!

Great place!

  • 5 of 5

We enjoyed our stay - and they are right to name it Tiny Living! ;-) Directions were great - house has everything you could need. We had some trouble with the shower one of the mornings with only one of us getting hot water for the shower, but that didn't happen the other mornings. Being on the lake and seeing the sun rise was awesome! The bed upstairs was a little difficult for folks used to a king sized bed - we ended up sleeping separately (one upstairs, the other downstairs on the daybed) so we could actually sleep. The view from the loft out the little octagonal window was gorgeous on clear mornings. Fun little house!
