Welcome to our newly acquired condo, Kiahuna Plantation’s Unit 309, overlooking the beautiful Moir Gardens. Enjoy breakfast on the lanai listening to the birds and even getting a couple of peeks at the ocean a short walk away. Kauai is truly an island paradise and Kiahuna Plantation is quite possibly the best place to enjoy the best of what the island has to offer. We love all the Hawaiian islands and have experienced everything from the famous volcanoes on the Big Island, the whales off Maui, the mule ride down to Kalaupa’pa on Molokai, the North Shore and Waikiki of Oahu and the incredibly relaxing Garden Isle of Kauai. Having had to move away from our beloved Hawaii ne, we dreamed of one day owning a condo here. We looked on different islands trying to find just the right mix of all that we love about Hawaii. We found it here and are so excited to share it with you! We hope you enjoy it as much as we do.
The GROUNDS are matchless in their beauty. Whether it’s the tropical walk-through gardens, the native palm trees, quaint bridges or manicured lawns that beg to be walked on barefoot, everything says, “Relax here.” As if that weren’t enough, Kiahuna Plantation has it’s own BEACH where you can swim, boogie board, surf (the beach hut staff offer surf lessons!), snorkel or just check out a beach chair and towel (both free) and take in the sights and sounds. At certain times of year the sunsets from the beach are unparalleled. If you are an early riser, you may even see a monk seal or two lounging about on the shore.
We are TENNIS fanatics so we were thrilled to discover that across the street a short walk from our condo is a tennis and swim club, free to Kiahuna Plantation guests. The pro shop will even arrange matches for you if you’d like as well. The pool has a kids’ waterslide and a sandy beach entry for small children. A whirlpool spa is located just off to the side of the pool area. After play is done, a restaurant on-site will take care of your after workout appetite.
Also across the street are highly rated restaurants and quaint shops for a change of pace. Historic Koloa town is just a few minutes away as well. While you could spend your entire vacation at the Plantation and have all your wants and needs met, Kauai has limitless opportunities for adventures of all sorts. You can kayak up a river to a waterfall, hike the famous Napali coast, take a scenic drive to a lighthouse, take a catamaran to watch dolphins or catch a show. It’s all here! Grab a guide book, plan your adventure and come! You’ll love it!
I am a Coast Guard brat. I've lived lots of places nationally and internationally, including Hawaii. Once on my own, my family was able to return Oahu. We have sinced moved away but I have always wanted to keep my ties to Hawaii strong. It feels like the one place where my heart can truly call home. It has been a dream come true to own a condo on Kauai.
Kristin Hess purchased this condo in 2013
We looked at many locations and fell in love with Kiahuna Plantation on Kauai. It seems to have all the best of what Hawaii has to offer: beautiful beaches, tropical plants and birds, plenty of water activities and the Aloha spirit Hawaii is famous for. It is just the perfect mix of relaxation and play!
Perfect! Not sure how I could summarize this any other way.
The grounds are spectacular, specifically the orchid garden that you pass through on your 4 min walk to the beach. The beach is pristine. Thanks for having snorkle gear and boggie boards available, they were well used by us.
Many resaturants close by if you don't feel like cooking in the well equipped kitchen.
The only thing we wished the site offered was a hot tub for the day after surfing lessons.
Overall 10+ on the zen scale.
This condo was beautifully decorated and conveniently close to Starbucks and Keoki's, 2 of our favorites. We appreciated the snorkel equipment, boogie boards, and grass mats provided, not to mention the best sunsets on the island. Here are some of our favorites: the Garden Island Grille just a few miles away in Koloa. Delicious fish tacos! We also recommend parking at the Hyatt and walking the Heritage trail to Mahaulepu, a beautiful hike along the coast. We drove to Waimea Canyon and did the Canyon Trail hike to Waipo'o. A good workout for sure! Between the 13 and 14 mile markers, park at the Pu'u Hinahina Lookout. Our only suggestion for improving this condo would be some basic spices and a few more kitchen items. We love to cook, and found the kitchen a bit under-stocked. Nonetheless, it was a perfect home base for many excursions and the owner was very easy to work with.
We stayed her for a week just after Christmas. We like Poipu because it's on the Sunny side of the island, especially in the winter months.
The condo lived up to all the expectations we had, with the exception of one, will explain further down.
It was clean; Modern; Well kept; Great view of the Gardens and a short walk to the beach. Poipu Shopping Village is right across the street which is very convenient! Starbucks and Whalers General Store right there. Aneunue Café is a great place for breakfasts and you have to try the Puka Dogs!
A 5 minute drive is Kola Town. If you like pizza you have to go to Pizzetta!!
The King bed was very comfortable!
Since this place has no A/C, you need to open the shutters on both sides of the unit to get some air flowing, especially in the evening to cool things off.
Beware if you are a light sleeper!
Because of the layout of this complex, the master bedroom is right along the outdoor hallways. You can hear everybody that comes and goes. Many renters are not aware that by talking loud outside it wakes everybody up! With the shutters open (even when they are closed) they might as well be standing in your room having a conversation while you are trying to sleep!
Being a wooden structure with a unit above, you always take your chances. Unfortunately for us we had a family with kids right above us and very early each morning (one morning at 5:00am) the kids start running around which sounds like a heard of cattle stampeding.
Needles to say we were woken up early each morning by one or the other. This was our only complaint about this unit.
The roosters will get you up by 7 in any case, but that’s just part of the charm of Kauai!!
My husband and I stayed here for 2 weeks. It was the perfect size for 2 people. The condo location was perfect! Right next to all the beautiful flowers in the garden, and a 2 minute walk to the pristine beach! I would recommend this condo to anyone. Property was clean (minus a minor bug problem in the kitchen, but that's everywhere in Hawaii really), owner was very easy to work with, and really we have no complaints. There were a few things I would mention, and that is, the kitchen gets really hot! We were looking for a budget friendly stay since this was a longer visit, so we wanted to cook most of our meals at the condo. The lighting in the kitchen made it feel extra hot in there, and there was no ventilation really, but this is probably due to it being the climate...not much you can do about it really except maybe put different lights in the kitchen. ;) The wifi situation was a bit weird... anytime we tried to sign on to it, it would tell us it is unsecured and our phones and computers would not want us to get on the network, which caused us to be wary of using it of course. The condo was pretty warm at night, but then again we didn't get any rain or clouds for the 2 weeks we stayed, so again, not much we could do about that! The only other thing we were a bit disappointed on were the kitchen utensils. There wasn't much, however, we did make do, except the can opener didn't work so we bought a new one, but the kitchen could be stocked with a few more supplies such as tupper ware (with lids to be exact). We loved that this condo had two flat screen TV's in the unit! One in the living room, and one in the bedroom. It was the right amount of quiet and noise for it's location. The only time we heard noise, were the roosters of course (which did not bother us!), people coming and going from other units in our building, and house keeping in the mornings. We had a nice relaxing stay in this unit and would definitely stay here again! Thank you so much!
The condo and the property was very clean and beautiful. It was a short walk from the beach and to the Sheraton, where our friends were staying, so it was a perfect location for us. The towel hut was a bit far and we never even found the pool, but the ocean was close to our condo and a perfect little walk.
We had a nice stay in this condo. The size was just right for 2 adults (could also handle another 1-2 adults on the sofa sleeper for a night or 2). Very comfortable bed, great shower. The lanai looks over an adjacent garden and there is a peek-a-boo ocean view.
The condo can get a little warm in the afternoon (it has a southern exposure), and there is no AC. We were very comfortable with all the window open and the fans on. It cools down quickly once the sun drops, and there is usually an on-shore breeze in the afternoons.
Check in was quick and easy, and the staff did a good job describing where everything was and getting around. Check out also was quick, and the office is open 24/7 (good for us because we had an early morning flight out).
There is a grilling island a few steps from the entrance with a couple gas grills. We grilled steaks one night that we felt like staying in.
The beach is about a 5 minute walk, where there are beach towels and chairs to use. As a resort guest you have access to these amenities. The beach here is not as rocky as Poipu Beach or Benecke's Beach and the water is calmer. Great for kids (or Adults who don't want to get tossed around).
There is all kinds of dining, shopping, sight-seeing nearby. Definitely take a drive to Spouting Horn. Keokis Paradise is across the street (less than 5 minute walk) which has great sea food. Da Crack is less than a 5 minute drive towards Koloa, where you can get amazing fish tacos. There's a market next door for your supplies as well.
The owner has very thoughtfully supplied boogie boards and snorkel gear, which were great to use at the beach.
The only thing preventing a 5th star is that the bed frame is too big for the bedroom (hard to move around the room), and the ceiling fans need to be replaced as they are worn and noisy. We would go back despite those small things.
