ROCKLAND - a wonderful base from which to explore the Maine Coast
Cheerful and welcoming, I've traveled to many parts of the world which started when I was in the Peace Corps in East Africa. Now retired I volunteer at various places and fill my musical needs learning the steel drums and playing with a band to raise money for musical scholarships for local schools. We look forward to meeting you and helping you to get the most out of your visit. We welcome visitors from all countries. I have studied French, German, Portuguese and Swahili but am not fluent.

Why Kathryn chose Rockland
There is so much to do. Your host will keep your mailbox filled with things to do from where to taste artisan vinegar and oils to seeing the lighthouse where Forrest Gump ended his run. The host lives downstairs and will answer any questions but leave you to enjoy the peacefulness of your vacation. While we are new to Homeaway, we have many positive reviews on another company. Here is one: We have rented out our apartment for 3 years on another site. We are continuing to do this but are adding Home Away this year. Until we receive reviews on this site, I have added one below from our other site. VALUE From Rachel September 2017 My family had stayed here before, 2 years ago, when my older son was still a baby and it was great. Now that we have expanded our family, we were looking forward to coming back for our first vacation as a family of 4. We knew Kathryn's place would be a great place for my older son (now 2.75 years, able to sleep in his own bed) and my younger son (almost 3 months). There is a separate bedroom for kids so that was perfect for this. We really appreciated being able to make ourselves at home and do our own thing, but also really appreciated Kathryn's emails of recommendations of stuff to do. While we definitely had a list of things to see and do having been there before, there were a few things we didn't know about that she sent us which was fantastic. The place is also very close to the downtown area but also in a lovely neighborhood so you get the best of both worlds. We had a really good time and felt like we could have stayed much longer. We will be back!

Cute, cozy comfortable apartment with plenty of room. It is an old house and has a nice "antique" vibe but with all the modern amenities you need. Lovely bedrooms with plenty of comfy sitting spaces to read and relax. Kathryn was a most diligent hostess who tried to anticipate every little thing you would need. Thanks for all the kleenex boxes -- just a little detail often overlooked in rental homes.
I enjoyed having you. The Olivers are great guests to host. They were very quiet and left everything tidy. They enjoyed being out and about exploring the area.
Lovely, Quiet, Walk to town
This is a lovely apartment in a quiet, beautiful neighborhood of Victorians within walking distance of Downtown Rockland with easy off street parking. We enjoyed our stay very much and our host was very welcoming and has all the beach equipment needed to enjoy the coast. It is on the second floor but has it's own entrance and stairs. The fresh flowers were beautiful and shower has the best water pressure I have ever experienced. Loved it. Would definitely return!
Nice Get Away
We wanted to do something a little different for our vaca this year. The Maine Coast is beautiful. Rockland was very welcoming and our Host, Kathryn, was very accommodating. She provided a wonderful apartment to stay in within walking distance to downtown and the Rockland Coastline. Would definitely recommend!
Location was close to everything. It was also easy ride to camden
All went smoothly. Great response from owner. Greeted us upon arrival. Had place full of garden flowers . She gave us a quick tour and showed us where everything was. She had 2 book binders with sight seeing Information, restaurants etc. We felt right at home. Clean and quiet.
Maureen and Bob were very good guests. They were pleasant and left the apartment in tiptop shape. I would happily have them to come again.
It was perfect for our needs
A comfortable apartment within easy walking distance of Rockland's galleries, museums, restaurants and waterfront, with a lovely and helpful host. We also enjoyed the convenience of a well-equipped kitchen, and birds by the backyard deck.
Thanks to all. You kept the apartment cared for and the plant watered. Hope I see you again.
Some sports equipment can be rented from Maine Sport in Rockport. Some equipment would need to be brought with you. Kathryn has a carriage house where you may store your equipment. If you want to know if a particular activity is available, let her know and she will check for you.
