Photos and Description of this 3 bedroom holiday cottage in Little Compton

Awesome Year-Round Getaway and Sunset Views Over the Sakonnet!

Lovely, high end home available for weekend getaways, holiday weeks, New England summers, and cozy fall and winter excursions. We just recently completed a complete renovation to the highest standards. Panoramic westerly water views and Sunsets over the Sakonnet River from the master bed balcony. Great artwork, funky antiques, granite/stainless kitchen, claw foot tub, two custom baths, two gas fireplaces, antique pine floors, vintage radiators, and cool custom/vintage materials give this cottage a clean, contemporary and interesting feel.

The best feature is an amazing 30 x 15 Master suite with a fireplace, king size bed, private bath, and french doors to a private balcony overlooking the Sakonnet. Lower level is smallish, with a 20 x 12 fireplaced kitchen/living area, a bedroom with bunk bed, a third sitting room with daybeds, and another full bath. There's a front porch, vintage cobblestone patio, and a fantastic hot/cold mahogany outdoor shower.

Its not a party house, its a tasteful little cottage, ok for entertaining in the summer but smallish for winter indoor dinners for more than 4 adults. I think the house is a perfect romantic weekend getaway, or great retreat for a couple or young family.

Little Compton is a charming seaside New England town featuring stone walls, farm stands, fresh seafood, and sandy beaches. Here's what the Providence Journal had to say in July of 2013: 'What the state’s historical commission wrote in a survey report about the town in 1986 remains true today: “Isolated and remote, Little Compton has been relatively free from the political pressures or economic forces that have transformed much of the rest of Rhode Island into a dense, urban and suburban metropolis.”

“The town’s resistance to change — at first a result of its isolation, later due to deliberate decisions — has preserved a remarkable legacy,” the report added. “... Little Compton presents an idyllic picture, complete with rolling topography, a quiltwork pattern of stone-wall-bounded farms and woodland, complemented by marshes, saltwater ponds, barrier beaches, a rocky promontory at Sakonnet Point, old farm complexes, comfortable summer houses, winding roads, and tree-lined villages.”

Newport is appx 30 minutes away, Providence or Boston an hour or so. Walk to the beach at the end of our street, or a short drive to numerous other beaches, nature trails, the town commons, Sakonnet Vineyards, Christmas tree farms, artists studios and antique shops.

Includes: Linens, towels, cookware, a couple of televisions with blu ray players, loads of dvds, blu rays, and books; wireless internet; coffee maker, nespresso machine. Bring your suitcase, bike, kayak, or running shoes and you should be fine!

About Steve Rodio

I'm a lawyer practicing in a small firm in Rhode Island, a life long resident of the smallest state, and Rhode Island's biggest fan! I love it here, from the fascinating and eclectic downcity Providence, to historic Newport with its summer 'cottages' fit for kings and queens, to the quintessential New England seaside town Little Compton.

Steve Rodio purchased this cottage in 2011

Why Steve Rodio chose Rhode Island Coastal

I purchased this home to rehab and put on the market, but the more time I spent in Little Compton the harder it was to part with this house! My kids and I love going there, its the most relaxing place int he world - and one of the prettiest!

What makes this cottage unique

Think New England seaside communities and Little Compton is the point of reference. Stone walls, farmers markets, roadside stands with amazing fresh vegetables, the freshest seafood, a town commons with white steeple church and historic cemetery, gorgeous beaches, and wide open vistas of green grass and blue sea. Summer, fall or winter, Little Compton's charm and beauty remain the same.

This "cottage" was renovated into a high-end hotel. Great location with a short walk to the beach. We had a fantastic time and didn't want to leave. Can't wait to return as soon as we can.

We had a great time here. The house was immaculate, and Steve provided thorough information, not only about the house but also useful articles and restaurant ideas. We loved every second. Thank you! !

Fun, Comforting and Relaxing!

  • 5 of 5

Beautiful cottage. Perfect for 2-4 people or small family and was perfectly stocked. Little Compton is so refreshing and gorgeous. There was a quick drive to the ocean, but we could not find an ocean beach to go on - they were either private or member only beaches. We went to the beach on the river and it still was a great time. The sunsets were worth staying home for.! We really enjoyed going to the winery close by, we went 4 times. Great music and food. We will definitely be back!

Beautiful Property

  • 5 of 5

Our family had a wonderful time staying at this property in Little Compton. The house is immaculate and fresh cut flowers welcomed us when we arrived. The water views were beautiful and the house had everything we could need. Steve and Danielle were both kindly professional and gracious in all communications. We highly recommend this property!

Rustic Modern and oh so peaceful!

  • 5 of 5

Oh my goodness. If you are looking for a quiet, seaside cottage with a breezy relaxed vibe this is the place for you. This was our first time taking our three month old baby on a trip and we were completely comfortable. Even the baby could feel the relaxing vibe and enjoyed hanging out under the ceiling fan looking out the window at the birds and the listening to the breeze through the windows. The entire upstairs is a large master suite which was perfect for us with space for the baby's bassinet. Downstairs stayed nice and cool despite the 85 degree weather. A couple of things to note - upstairs does get warm but we found that opening windows for a cross-breeze and the gigantic ceiling fan managed quite nicely. Also, stop at the grocery store on your way in to town because the only place to buy food items is a general store, and although it was absolutely adorable and worth a visit it closed at 6pm and had a very limited selection. Oh, and don't be alarmed by the adorable girl who lives next door who happily lovingly waters the flowers each day. So lovely. We would recommend this place to anyone and want to thank Steve and Danielle for their friendly yet very professional communication. We felt totally at home.

Delightful, peaceful, splendid!

  • 5 of 5

We made a last-minute effort to get a weekend away for the family and hoped that we might be able to arrange something that would enable us all to recharge. The owners were extremely responsive and thoughtful and in no time at all, there we were on the steps of the Rhode Island cottage. Everything was beautiful and our stay there was effortless and splendid. We enjoyed the elegant and comfortable layout of the house, rested well, found the lobster pound and ate well, and really appreciated the peaceful views and the chance to walk down to the beach--which really was just steps away from the house. The beautiful bouquet of fresh flowers on the counter greeted us and set the tone for lots of other little touches that made it easy to begin the short holiday as soon as we arrived. Steve and Danielle--thank you! We look forward to returning and hope to see Little Compton again soon.

Little Compton is a quaint New England coastal community, regarded for both its natural beauty and its exclusiveness. Visit the Town Commons with its white steeple church and colonial cemetery, enjoy one of the many area beaches, take a tour of Sakonnet Vineyards, get fresh local produce at one of the many farm stands or the Saturday Farmer's market, go antiquing, walk the nature trails, or simply stroll to the end of our street for a dip in the Sakonnet. If you enjoy running, rollerblading or bicycling, you will fall in love with the town's beautiful roads and trails. If the Kayak is more your style, you will be amazed at Narragansett Bay! Dinning choices nearby are plentiful, especially in Bristol (15 minute drive), which boasts some of RI's most creative and delicious kitchens. Of course, Newport is always fun for a night out or a day of touring the mansions.
