There are two structures on the property that can house 12 people. The main one, known as the Villa, has four bedrooms, five bathrooms, two living rooms, a dining room and an elevator. There are two fireplaces, each with reclaimed wood and terracotta tiles. The oven, located at the heart of the house, was once used to cook bread for the town. It has been fully restored to cook excellent pizza or schiacciata and is now part of a kitchen with modern, high-tech, restaurant-quality Viking appliances that include a steam oven. There is floor heating under the reclaimed tiles.
The second, smaller structure is the main structure's Fienile. This is a two-bedroom, three-bathroom apartment with its own kitchen, dining room and living room. The bedrooms have impressive views of the sprawling valley and its proximity to the property's lake allows for the symphony of frogs to be a nice lullaby. It has floor to ceiling windows that overlook the garden and open up to its own terrace with a spacious dining table.
Le Argille's 16-acre property includes a salt-water infinity pool (with a shallow children's wading section), a pool bathroom, a jacuzzi and a cabana area. There is also a heart-shaped pond with lilies and lotuses, around which are Carrara marble sculptures hand-made by artist Neil Barab, including a mini ping pong table (we also have a normal sized one for adults). We make wine from our vineyards and olive oil from our 600 olive trees. We have our own chickens, turkeys and a rooster we affectionately call Casanova. There is also an organic garden where we grow zucchini, artichokes, tomatoes, cabbage, onions and garlic among other produce. There are pear and fig trees from which we make jams. We also have sage, rosemary, mint and basel grown on the property, which is skirted by an old pine forest.
Please contact the owner for special long-term rates and seasonal prices.
Le Argille, is located in Strada in Chianti, a 20-minute ride from Florence. Perched on a hilltop, this former Buddhist and yoga retreat in the heart of Tuscany, was fully renovated in 2011 by the Fiumi family, with Architect Giovanni Cini. The mission was to preserve the old characteristics of this casa colonica (country house) while modernizing certain aspects to adapt to a modern lifestyle.
Fiumi Family purchased this villa in 2008
My husband and I rented the villa L'Agrile for two weeks to celebrate his birthday with family and friends. We can't give enough praise to Eleonora the property manager or Tereza the discreet but hard working caretaker. Eleonora is a wealth of information about the Chianti area and arranged several activities: wineries, visits to the local pasta and pottery businesses, and a cooking class at Villa il Leccio. Tereza, who always has a smile on her face will shop, cook, serve and clean ups with the greatest of ease. She was always dishing up surprises like waking up one morning to her fresh apple strudel or dining on brick oven pizza and a salad with fresh figs from the garden. The villa is tastefully appointed with a blend of refurbished Italian antiques and contemporary furniture. The gourmet kitchen was dreamy for a group of foodies to create meals served by candlelight in dining room leading to hours of laughter and great times. The villa grounds were private, well maintained with an amazing negative edge pool over looking the beautiful countryside where we gathered every afternoon for a swim and cocktails while watching the cloud formations and sunset under a deep Tuscan blue sky. All I can say is everyone should enjoy a villa like this at least once in their lifetime!
Our group from Memphis, TN, and NYC included ages 5 to 65, and this beautiful property had something for everyone. Our 5-year-old was fascinated by the chickens and enjoyed farm fresh eggs for breakfast. The entire group loved swimming in the infinity pool and relaxing in the hot tub. The outdoor kitchen and cabana were perfect for our pizza night --- I highly recommend Gabriel for pizza! The setting is beautiful; Eleanora is wonderful; Tereza and Bello keep everything perfect and we loved Tereza's cooking. We hope to return soon!
We had a fantastic week in Le Agrille. The Villa was fabulous , bright, airy and comfortable..The pool and outdoor settings were amazing!!
The town of Strada-in - Chianti is within walking distance.. and there are lovely restaurants near by.
Our stay was made even more special with help of the Elenora the Villa Manager, . and Tereza and Belo, who live and work on the property made us so comfortable no one wanted to leave!!
We have been to Italy many times, and rented many villas Le Agrille was one of the best.. we look forward to returning soon
What an unforgettable vacation in Tuscany! We chose Le Argille for a family reunion in March 2016, and we have nothing but positive things to say about our experience at the villa. We had 10 adults and 3 kids (ages 2, 7, and 10) in our party. This property is even better than pictured - beautiful inside and out, very clean, organized, well-maintained, and comfortable. The view is absolutely stunning, and the location is great, close to the small town of Strada and an easy drive to Florence, San Gimignano, Lucca, Pisa, and so many more. We did not get to use the pool (in March), but we did enjoy the beautiful grounds, the mini soccer field, the hot tub, and the sturdy tree house! And of course, as mentioned in previous reviews, the manager (Eleonora) and the caretakers Tereza and Belo, were delightful - always smiling and willing to help. We hired Tereza to cook and serve dinner for us twice during our stay - DELICIOUS, especially the pizza made in the villa's own wood burning oven. Highly recommended. Grazie mille!!!
We have spend a month at this gorgeous villa with our family last summer. I just tried to book again for this summer but unfortunately I was too late and it's not available.
WE HAD AN UNFORGETTABLE time here! The location, the villa, the guest house, the outdoor kitchen by the pool was amazing. We had a huge group of family members and friends over between ages of 2 to 74 and it was suitable for everyone. Tereza and Bela gave us a 5star hotel service during our stay. You must try Tereza's tiramisu when you stay there! They can take care of cleaning, cooking, shopping for you and you don't even realize they are staying at this property. The garden is huge, they even have a wooden treehouse where the children could sleep. It is a dream treehouse for all of us including adults. The view, the sunsets were gorgeous. We got fresh eggs (they have a rooster named Casanova and 7 chickens) and fresh vegetable from the garden from Tereza and Bela on a regular basis. We were spoiled!
We arrived after a steamy week in Rome to find glorious peace and beauty at the villa. Tereza and Belo met us with big smiles, and kept us so comfortable while we lounged around the pool and the cabana that we lost our city jitters very quickly. Tereza's cooking was marvelous, and we feasted like royalty while dressing like peasants :-). A quick overnight trip to Venice at a luxury hotel was exciting, but we relished coming home to our airy abode with the endless vistas and beautiful breezes. Leo the dog checked in with us as we lounged, and our final meal in Chianti was a delight: pizzas made by Tereza and cooked by Belo in the pizza oven (the smells were heavenly), followed by the most delicious chocolate cake/pie in the world (some of us had it for breakfast before we left the next morning!). If you want the loveliest holiday ever, don't hesitate to come here. We'll dream about it for years. Thanks to Annalisa, our wonderful manager, Tereza and Belo, and Leo. You are the Best.
