Stuck in the 80's but most of all blinds broken and furniture broken

Six flights of stairs to top bedroom which has two twin beds. The dinning table had two chairs and all of the blinds were broken. All outside furniture was broken

Owner's Response: I am so sorry you had a bad experience .I have addressed these issues with the owner and he brought down a new dining room table, chairs for the other table , had the carpets cleaned and will have somebody paint. The blinds have been taken care of. I hope you give us a second chance and I will make sure you are compensated for your next visit. Thank You Stephanie Mays

Renters beware Waste of money-$3000/week rental. Couldn't give zero stars Huge Disappointment!!

The owner of the Captain's Lookout should be ashamed to rent the house in this condition. All of the vertical blinds are broken, carpets are very stained and gross and the living room furniture is stained. Walls have unidentifiable stains-looks like blood or food. The 2 vacuums in the laundry room do not work. Only 2 normal glasses in the cupboard for drinking. The dining table has 2 chairs of six. Almost all of the items in the garage are broken except one bicycle-leftovers.

Not sure who is paid to do the cleaning but a new company should be hired-I paid to have a maid service come the first day we went in. Had to pay $300 to get it cleaned. All bathrooms were moldy and hairs all over the floor. One towel per bathroom. I purchased 8 white towels which I left. The company I hired said the kitchen was the worst they had seen. Drawers and cabinets filled with sand and all items had to go through the dishwasher before they could be used-dried in food and stuff stuck on them-I used plastic utensils all week. Very poorly taken care of. No basic supplies to clean-had to purchase everything-mop, broom, dustpan which I left for someone to use. All bed linens had to be washed due to sand being in the bed-we hadn't even slept in the beds. Dead roaches in the hallway. Coffee machine had mold growing out of the lid-bought one. The carpets need to be replaced because they are very stained and hairs are tangled into the fibers. Nothing is more gross than finding an assortment of hairs on your socks and on the bathroom floors that aren't yours.

There is an electrical problem in the bedroom with the trundle beds right off the 2nd floor stairs. When you turn on the lights it blows the fuse to that room and bathroom.

I know houses are rented in mass quantity but in the 20 years I've been renting I have never been this disappointed. I would caution you from renting this unit until the owner does major clean up. I had hesitations on renting based on the previous reviews which I discussed with the property manager and was told the owner had "done some work" (unknown)-sadly it lived up to it's reputation. I emailed the property manager and I encouraged them to view it and talk to the owner. It's a shame that I had to spend A LOT of additional money for a cleaning service and supplies and lost a day of my vacation cleaning house. I would love to have that money back but I won't hold my breath waiting for the owner to pay me back. Be cautious when renting this unit

Another great stay!

This is our fifth time in 9 years to stay in this house. The management company staff are amazingly friendly and helpful. The house is becoming very dated and needs some new furniture...dining chairs, living room furniture and master bed. We really appreciated the new stove and refrigerator.

Love, love, love the location and amount of space in the home.

Dated and Disappointed

We booked this rental and paid close to $900 for 3 nights stay. The outside looked great but the inside was a different story. There were huge cobwebs with flies in the ceiling corners of the living room. Tile in the kitchen was replaced with totally different tile. Decorations were probably from the 80s - which we saw on the photos but realized the magnitude when we got there. Couches had covers - didn't look what was underneath. Woke up after the first night and there were about 100 ants in the master bathroom sink. Went to the rental office and was given a bottle of "stuff" to spray. Strong mildew smell when you opened the bathroom cabinet. We found band-aids stuck to the comforter in the master bedroom - not ours. Master bed not comfortable at all. Very worn. I am giving it 3 starts only because office staff was super friendly and we were able to walk to the beach. Other than that - we were disappointed with the quality of the condo. Needs alot of TLC.

Friendly staff, so-so property.

Although this rental is not ON the beach it has an unobstructed view of the sound, and walking to the beach is easy....unless you carry a ton of stuff. House is nice, but dated. Appliances are old, and some do not work. Noticed several things in the garage that would have made our short stay better, but it turns out most of the stuff, (bikes, water toys, umbrellas) were broken or out of order. Sadly the garage door didn't work and this made parking difficult since no street parking is allowed. Still, the house was nice enough, and we did enjoy our stay here...not really worth what we paid though.
