I can't imagine a better place for a couple to stay on Culebra. Make sure you rent a jeep/golf cart because the hill to get up is pretty steep. This was probably the cleanest vacation rental we have ever stayed in. As the others noted, bring your own soap, shampoo, and coffee. The view is amazing and we even saw wild horses on the property.

Our stay on Culebra

  • 3 of 5

Beautiful property! My husband and I were amazed by the views, especially on the drive up. The condo was clean and well kept up. The bed was SUPER comfortable. Unfortunately the mosquitos were terrible, which prevented us from enjoying the outdoor patio at night. We were disappointed with the internet connection. My husband and I both had some work stuff to take care of and it didn't happen. Lynnette was very quick to respond to our issues but unfortunately the signal was so weak that we couldn't do anything on the internet. The one other down side of property was that there was another larger family staying right above us and we could hear everything they were saying. They woke up early and were moving chairs around. They had young children who were crying in the early morning. It was not what we had in mind for a "peaceful" getaway. Overall, the place was gorgeous and I think it could've been great minus the small things I listed above.

Wow! This property is absolutely gorgeous! My husband and I stayed here for two nights and we wish we would've stayed for longer. It's a paradise!!!

Very quiet, and private. Breath taking views! And so clean and well kept.

The place is perfectly located; far enough from everyone but close enough to get everywhere in 10 min.

I'm so impressed with how the owners thought of every single detail and the architecture of the structure is just amazing.

Bed an pillows are extremly comfortable and windows have black out blinds.

I really appreciated the fact that they had an iron with a small ironing board, a radio, beach towels and a cooler to take to the beach.

Lynnette was very nice to deal with.

Like other people mentioned, rent a Jeep (you get a 10% off if you rent with Carlos Jeep when renting this property). It's so much fun to ride around the island in the Jeep.

Culebra tips:

1. Do the snorkeling tour with Kayaking Puerto Rico. You can swim with TURTLES! It's unbelievable. After you know the spot where turtles are you can go on your own with your snorkeling equipment. Mornings are best for this. (This is at Tamarindo's beach right next to Flamenco's beach)

2. We loved the food at Dinghy Dock (great food, cocktails and atmosphere right by the water), Mamacitas and Zaco's Tacos.

3. You can take a flight to Culebra from Ceiba Airport or from SJU.

4. If you want to get groceries or even rent your snorkeling equipment go early during the day because everything closes around 5 pm.

Beautiful - just a bit disorganized

  • 4 of 5

The property itself is great. The building almost looks brand new and is in great shape. The views are also beautiful and is set at the top of one of the peaks in Culebra. The porch is very private. The place was very clean.

However, on the downside it was disorganized checking in. I was asked for the name of the place I was staying (I didnt even know there was a name) They buried through paperwork and finally called the manager (several times after not getting through). In the end we find out the unit we were supposed to get was already checked in by someone else and so we ended up getting their unit. The unit we were supposed to get had an outdoor tub and this had a kitchen. But we were on our honeymoon and really didnt care for the kitchen, but maybe cared for the tub? A bit annoying that our place got swapped out.

Also I was told the place didnt have any toiletries - but it seemed to have all we needed?

The wifi password should also maybe be posted somewhere in the place.

Also, this is just regarding the island...bring bug spray...the mosquitoes were relentless and the grocery store didnt have any.

But in the end to reiterate, it was still a very beautiful, well constructed rental on a very beautiful island.

THE VIEW IS BEYOND AMAZING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • 5 of 5

So, let me begin by saying the pictures shown on this site are pretty accurate. Usually, you go on travel sites and see pictures of the properties and the pictures have been re-touched and photo-shopped, but NOT these pictures. If anything, the view is MORE amazing in person! My bestie and I stayed here for 2 nights and could not get enough of the view every morning. The property was very clean and enough space for 2. There is NO TV and we did not have cellular service. So it was like we were on a isolated island with no idea of the going-ons of the world until we came down the hill. However, that gave us more time to hang out on the hammock, drink wine and talk.

You do need a jeep or golf cart to tackle the steep hill where the property is located. I would definitely recommend the jeep! And make sure you visit the store at the bottom of the hill and stock up on food before you go up the hill because there is nowhere to shop and/or eat once you get up the hill.

I also can't say enough about Carlos, the owner! (He also owns the Jeep rental place.) He is 1000% fabulous and very, very friendly. He was the first person we met once we arrived to Culebra and he set the tone for the remainder of our fabulous stay. Also, Lynette, the property owner, was more than accommodating during our stay.

*Bring bug spray
