About The Owner

As lifelong friends, our families have vacationed together for many years. We especially enjoy leaving the cold east coast winters to enjoy the sun and fun. Hawaii is the most beautiful place we have seen. It is where we all hope to retire .

The Owner purchased this villa in 2011

Why The Owner chose Kohala Coast

The weather in the Kohala coast is consistently beautiful. Year round temperatures in the low 80s and very little chance of rain.

The Mauna Lani Resort is exquisite - pristine and private beaches, historic fish ponds, great snorkeling, world class golf, restaurants, shopping etc. It has it all.

What makes this villa unique

A private , owner's only beach is unique, even in Hawaii. Two championship golf courses on site with 5 others within a short drive. Historical sites. The unique Hawaiian culture. Fish ponds. The clearest night sky you will ever see will allow you to see more stars than you ever knew existed. We strive to provide you with all the comforts and conveniences you may need. Snorkeling Equipment, beach towels, discounted golf at the Mauna Lani Resort championship courses,

Did not meet our expectations

  • 2 of 5

When we,arrived, there was no toilet paper in master bathroom.and no laundry soap. 3 light bulbs were out in vanitys in bathrooms. Shower was not cleaned prooerly. One propane tank was empty. There was no CD player and no music on cable TV so no ability to listen to music. The TV had modum problems that had to be repaired.

For what we paid, we expected better glassware, dishes and flatware.

The manager, Bennett, was full of excuses but of little action.

We stayed in another unit last year and rated it a 5. Guess they just spoiled us.

Owner's Response: We are sorry your stay did not meet your expectations but it is astonishing how 2 guests can view the same villa so differently. Please read the review of the guest that stayed immediately before you. They rated it a 5 and were very complimentary of everything. For further reference, the CD/DVD player is part of the big screen TV in the living room (on the side of TV), there are 2 propane tanks to enable uninterrupted use of the grill, and Hawaii cable is notoriously problematic but this effects everyone. The toilet paper and laundry detergent were an oversight for which we apologize. I understand you are longtime friends of the owners of the other villa you reference. I am sure this contributed to your experience.

Outstanding, relaxing and exceptional local assistance!

  • 5 of 5

Location, furnishings, amenities, local concierge, cleanliness...everything was exceptional!

Snorkel gear, boogie boards, coolers, beach towels, etc. Everything we needed for a perfect vacation.

Bennett met us when we arrived and provided excellent recommendations for the Waimea farmers market and a great volcanoes day trip.

We'd go back in a heartbeat!!

serene, clean condo

  • 5 of 5

I have vacationed to the Big Island many times and have stayed in this condo about 4 or 5 times. The owners are super accommodating and easy to get in touch with. The condo is very clean and the location is perfect if you prefer to be in a quiet, peaceful, beautiful environment. The grill on the lanai is great, since the farmer's markets have amazing provisions of fresh island produce and fish.

The owner's beach is also one of the big reasons I keep returning to this condo. It is the perfect beach for a morning swim workout, with amazing views of tropical fish and honu :)) What an incredible treat while doing a swim workout!

You can not go wrong with this condo. You will be pleased with your decision. I just know it!

We Extended Our Stay!

  • 4 of 5

This is a nicely equipped property in a good location. The description was accurate but the photos do not do the property justice, it is nicer than the pictures show. The owner was very responsive to my questions and concerns. It is a downstairs unit and we could occasionally hear the people above, but it was never a problem for us.

I would recommend this unit and we would stay here again. We enjoyed staying here enough that we extended our stay.

Relaxing, comfortable Condo located in a Great Location

  • 5 of 5

We enjoyed three weeks in this clean, comfortable, quiet Condo that we really relaxed in! The beds were very comfortable, the Air Conditioning was great with all the Fans. Didn't have to worry about anything! Just enjoyed a great vacation. Most days off to the beach and sightseeing and then maybe relax around the Pool in the afternoons. Played Golf and this Condo backs onto the 9th Green and 10th Tee-off. Great sitting on the Lanai as the Sun goes down! Can't wait to return to this awesome location- 4 years in Mauna Lani- No Rain- Just Sunshine!!! Mahalo

Some good, but mostly bad...

  • 2 of 5

The unit was nicely appointed, and the master bed was very comfortable. BUT...

This is a downstairs unit, and we experienced all the negatives that come with that. We could hear every step the man made upstairs, he dragged the kitchen across the floor, the wife did her daily exercise at 7:00am right above our heads, we could hear their TV and stereo, and could hear the toilet flush. When we went to the lanai to enjoy the outdoor space, we could still hear their TV or stereo, and half their conversations because they kept the slider open and the screen door allowed everything they did to be heard outside.

Although it was unique to our stay, there was extensive refurbishing being done to the entire Golf Villas community, which had been planned for quite a long time, that the owner decided NOT to advise us about. We heard work going on in the adjoining unit, and there was major construction being done to the complex right next to ours as well as the one directly across the street from ours. We went to the pool (walking through construction supplies and equipment, while dodging cars and a forklift) but the noise from their compressor, nail gun and table saw ruined the tranquility of the nice pool. The pool was a very short walk from our unit, and in the middle of the complex, so the noise was easily heard and negatively impacted our time there, regardless of their current work location.

Owner's Response: In the past 5 years this is the first time we have had to respond to a guest review. All prior reviews were 5 stars with exceptional comments. We are very sorry your experience and stay was not everything you expected. We do our best to provide everything we can so a guest's visit to Hawaii results in a truly enjoyable stay in this island paradise. Unfortunately there are things that are outside any owner's control. We cannot turn a condo or hotel room into an isolated luxury estate. There will be other guests staying as your neighbors. The Golf Villas is a major complex with 16 buildings and 87 villas. While the condo association was undertaking a complex wide improvement project, all work on our building and the adjacent buildings was completed long before your arrival and is now limited to the opposite end of the complex . Any work being done close to our villa or the pool was being performed by other owners in their individual villas during standard working hours. This situation could occur at any time and is beyond anyone's control . Again, I feel very sorry that your stay in Hawaii was not everything you expected. It is a very special place and is meant to be enjoyed.
