Family Cabin Available For Rent During Summer Months
This cabin is owned by the Simmons family. They are not able to get away and enjoy their cabin as much as they would like, so they want to share it with other families who want to get away from the city and enjoy nature.
The Hooks and Sticks Cabin is located in a private setting in Necedah,WI. The cabin is located 1 mile from the boat dock near the Petenwell Lake Dam and 1 mile from the Woodbine Restaurant.

Quiet mornings, birds chirping, deer passing through the yard, and uninterrupted family time.
"Walked to the Bluff and hiked up to the top. Great workmanship on the D-log cabin!"
We miss it already. The quiet. I like the dvd and radio only. It adds to the experience.
The deer coming up to the back of the house. Perfect for my wife and myself.
We also like the area for different activities. Necedah and Tomah great places to visit.
Woodbine and Carlson's Rustic Ridge worthwhile supper clubs.
We'll come back to visit areas we missed on our short trip.

We stayed here foe three nights with my two children ages 5 and 7. They loved the loft area! There is a bucket/rope pulley tied to the top of the loft. The kids would put their toys in the bucket and pull them up and down to the loft. They played with that for hours! The cabin is fully stocked with everything, just bring your own towels. The beds were comfortable. There is no wifi or cable, but they have plenty of movies to watch.
It is a very quiet area of Necedah. There is a fire pit in the back yard, (buy your own wood) which we used, a very relaxing stay. The only issue we encountered were several bugs which we found in the house, pine beetles I believe. We used the fly swatter several times, but that was all.
We had a nice stay at Hooks and Sticks. We liked the privacy this cabin offers as you cannot see any neighbors. It was very comfortable and we appreciated having a washer and dryer we could use. We are only giving it a 3 stars because there are a couple things that could be improved in my opinion: 1/ We knew there was no outdoor grill when we made our reservation but when reading the comments from past guests in the Guest Book at the cabin, we realized there used to be an outdoor grill. It's too bad it's no longer available for current and future guests. Staying in a cabin without an outdoor grill feels "incomplete". 2/ There are no curtains or blinds on any windows. It's nice to see out all around the cabin during daytime as it is surrounded by trees but there should be an option of covering the windows (curtains or blinds) for night time, at least on the window facing the bed. Other than that, it was a beautiful cabin and we enjoyed our stay there.
This cabin is adorable! It is tucked away in a quiet area of Necedah WI close to rivers, lakes, beautiful state parks, decent restaurants, good hiking, biking, climbing, etc. It is reasonably priced, has everything you need (bring your own towels), and the owners were very pleasant to work with!
We had the best time at the Hooks and Sticks cabin!! Our kids absolutely loved it and so did we. I highly recommend staying here!
The owners take excellent care of the property and it's a beautiful home away from home.
We will be back!!
Thank you Terry and Sue!
My wife and I stayed at this cabin it was perfect. The cabin was very clean. The cabin is very cozy and comfy. The cabin is not far off the road but secluded in the woods. The Woodbine in just down the road is a great place for supper, excellent food. We would definitely stay there again. Thanks again to Terry and Sue Simmons.

Cabin is about 5 miles away from the Necedah National Wildlife Refuge - a very special place. The refuge is a great spot for hiking, photography and bird watching. The refuge is well known for their work with Whooping Crane rehabilitation.
