Nice central location on Santorini
This house was a good size for a family of 7 and very clean and comfortable. One double bed is in the basement and requires access via a ladder, but that didn't pose a problem. We really enjoyed the pool to cool off after sightseeing in the hot sun. And the rooftop view was great and perfect for sitting around in the morning or after the sunset. All very relaxing. Wifi, air conditioning and coffee machine worked well. Bathroom was equipped with shower gel, shampoo and hair dryer. Having the washer was handy. Really appreciated the daily garbage disposal service and pool cleaning. After experiencing the busy towns of Oia and Fira, we found Emporio to be the perfect quiet, central point to access everything in the bottom half of Santorini. All attractions were within a 20 minute drive. Recommend a rental car for sure. Lighthouse, white/red/black sand beaches, Pyrgos, wineries, brewery, various top restaurants are all close by. Anastasia, the villa manager, was very helpful with a variety of recommendations, which we followed and we were not disappointed with. Haris should correct the listing though. There was only one bathroom, not two. And be prepared to park and walk uphill/downhill on cobblestones to get to the property. But well worth it. Highly recommended.
Wonderful experience all around...definitely reccommended
The house was beautiful...clean...perfect for family of five. Pool was great after long days of moving around the island. Roof top view was great for sunrise and evening relaxing. Emporio is a perfect jumping off point...close to the beach. Quiet town away from craziness of Fira, but only 15 minute drive away. Definitely rent a car. Pyrgos...town next door(5min by car) is beautiful with excellent restaurants.
Check out Kamira beach, Parissa and Perivolos Beach only 10 minutes away.
Anastasia, the house manager, was great. Very friendly and connected us to Barbarossa sailing which was an incredible evening and sunset cruise on the Caldera on a beautiful 52 food sailboat. 5 stars for the house and everything we did.
Nice House and Wonderful Hosts.
We like the house. The hosts were wonderful and very, very helpful. Haris, You have a wonderful group of young people that made us feel like family. Without them we would have missed the best parts of Santorini. We will definetly return because of them. Haris, we saw your other places and was very impressed with what you have done with them. Your host provided us with anything we needed. They helped make our yatch island tour and a private winery tour a great experience and the most memorable. Overall, they did not disappoint on any of the many suggestions that they made! The house was immaculate. The extra bed room in the basement is not very accessible, because it takes climbing up and down a ladder to access that space. If you have tweens and or teens, they would love having this private space. They surely won't mind climbing to a private spot that their parents won't attempt to come down to. I visited with five ladies. The the upstairs space had 2 bed rooms with full size beds in each and a sofa that comfortably slept 2 adults. There is one large bath room with a large shower up stairs. I can only assume that the other bathroom is located down stairs. Neither of us was adventurous enough to take the ladder to the basement to investigate. The walk to the house to and from the parking area takes really fit people. It is not wheelchair acccessible by any means. We had to stop half way up from the house to the parking lot to catch our breath and simply enjoy the beautiful scenery along the way. That made the walk a bit enjoyable. Keep in mind that anything you purchase or bring to this secluded property will have to be toted up and down at least 500+ feet on an unsmooth surface. So pack light. Do take time to explore the neighborhood. Their are photo opportunities every where. The house is centrally located on the island. I suggest renting a car at Hertz Rental car at the airport. They seemed very reasonable. We did not regret getting a car. We would have had to walk down the hill from the house to access a bus to Oia and Thira. If you don't like hiking daily then for go the car. You won't regret it If you are a hiker then you will really enjoy seeing the up close magnificent city view below as well as the ocean view in the horizon. The house is located in the town of Empirio. The small town has a great local bakery and unlimited places to eat and drink. Again, Do take the advise of the Hosts they will make your trip most memorable!
Stunning authentic villa in Emporio town!
6 of us girls stayed at this property for 5 nights. Located near Emporio Square, a short however hilly walk to the villa (however being 6 fit girls, we managed). We were greeted by the housekeeper who let us in. The house was beautifully maintained as the pictures advertised. A stunning rooftop to hang out and enjoy the gorgeous views of Santorini. Each bedroom was equipped with towels and the bathroom was also supplied with soap/shampoo/hairdryer. The kitchen too is equipped with all necessary utensils and also basic seasoning if you plan on cooking. We enjoyed making the famous greek salad!! There was two bottles of wine kept in the fridge upon arrival which was generous gesture :) 20 minutes by taxi to the main town of Thira, 10 minutes to Perissa (lovely black sands beach). Thank you Sotoris for a pleasurable stay at your lovely home, we had an amazing time on what is such an incredible island!!!
Fantastic house in an atmospheric setting
This lovely villa made the perfect base for exploring Santorini. Most of all I loved sitting on the roof terrace in the evening watching the world go by - the half-light around sunset, fantastic views out to sea, windmills on the horizon, the Castelli bell tower, the buzzing vehicles on the Emporio road below as they make their way between sunsets and clubs. We all (the children especially) loved the pool! Always clean, a great way to cool off after the walk back up to the house, not big but surprisingly deep. Emporio is only a short drive away from the beaches at Perivolos, Fira in 15 mins, Oia in 30+-. The villa itself is situated up in the old town - a 5 minute walk from the small, modern town centre, where you will find an excellent bakery, 2 well-stocked supermarkets, medical centre and a couple of local bars and restaurants. The house was cool, clean and true to the pictures - traditional styling, a well-equipped kitchen, a great shower/bathroom. There are two double bedrooms, a small cave bedroom downstairs (basic furnishing) and a separate, smart cave suite accessed externally (we did not use this as we didn't need to - but do make sure you ask if you are a larger group). Despite being in the old part of town, where houses are built on top of each other, it is reasonably private (though I did worry the children might wake our neighbours with their early morning swim!).
Sotiris responded promptly by email and was in touch via the family who looked after maintenance and cleaning (the house was cleaned meticulously, daily). On our arrival in Emporio, quite late in the evening, we phoned Vasilly who met us and showed us the way up through winding alleys (we were a bit worried that this way of finding our villa would not work out, but it was fine).
If you are of limited mobility, this is probably not the spot for you - walking back up to the villa, especially in the heat of the day, is strenuous. However, its well worth it for the view, and for the character of the old town you get the privilege of living in. You can wander the alleys and in a couple of minutes you are at the Goulas, or in the other direction the beautiful Castelli (on the way you will find a fantastic tiny roof-top bar for a cool beer before sunset!) - I wish I had had more time to wander these streets; with all the rest of the island to visit too, we ran out of time! Great villa and location combining convenience, atmosphere and history - Thank you Sotiris!
Nice Quiet Spot
The place is located it a very quiet area , pool is very nice as well, I think I enjoyed it the most about the property as it was hot while we were there and pool was always clean, cool, and refreshing . The host went above and beyond to make sure our stay was relaxing and helped us make several travel arrangements and let us stay a extended period of time free of charge that helped with our 3:35am flight to Barcalona , I would recommend this villa while in Santorini.
