About Cheryl Day

Cheryl has lived in Springfield for several years and is a nurse at Mercy Hospital here in town. Originally from Iowa, Cheryl moved to Missouri in 1983 and lived in the Ozark countryside until 2006 when she moved to the 'city' to be closer to her grandkids.

Cheryl Day purchased this house in 2007

Why Cheryl Day chose Springfield

Cheryl purchased this property after renting it for a year and falling in love with it. Since she bought the home she has spent years on fixing it up to it's current loving condition. She also added a loft apartment that is very modern in the upstairs space, with a separate entrance.

What makes this house unique

This home was built in 1939 by a well known area builder named Carl Bissman who constructed many of the larger homes on Historic Walnut Street one block south. This year the original hardwood floors were refinished to bring back the shine and feel. The arched front door is a feature not seen on many homes, and also features an archway between the dining and living room. The whole house was recently updated with a new electrical system, high efficient HVAC and water heater, all new lighting, new appliances, and fresh warm paint colors throughout.

Guestbook comments from the owner

Your house was perfect for our week-long trip to Springfield! We are co-workers in town for a training course. This gave us some extra elbow room as well as a meeting spot for others in the training to study & hang out. Not to mention it was SOOO much more comfortable than a hotel.

Thank you for opening your home- it is lovely!

Clean, cute, great value , attention to detail evident

  • 5 of 5

Beautifully decorated, hardwood floors nicely framed artwork and dark wood furniture , very comfy beds with nice sheets, easy to get in with code, perfect location for Evangel university graduation, stocked with extras like shampoo, great value for the six of us to stay, and I would stay here again if I came to town for sure. Also George's restaurant with great $3 breakfasts is right next door. Highly recommend to others. Things that would have been helpful - a full length mirror and muffin pan for making breakfast.

Overall fantastic experience and very cozy!

Wonderful Property

  • 5 of 5

I think this is my sixth time to stay at this lovely cottage. I have family that lives in the Springfield area, and I visit as much as possible. It's so nice to have my own place so I can contribute food from my own kitchen when we all get together and/or have them visit at "my" place. Cheryl and Chris keep the cottage in good working order and have everything needed to make the stay pleasant and comfortable. I'm able to bring my little dog with me, and she loves walking in the neighborhood. She prefers fall because she loves playing in the leaves! Hopefully, we will make it back again before the end of the year. I highly recommend this property.

Very cozy, very comfortable and very convenient!

  • 5 of 5

From beginning to end this could not have been a better experience. All instructions were very clear and accurate, the place was immaculate when we arrived, and everything needed was either supplied (ex. towels and basic condiments) or conveniently acquired nearby (ex. Food and beer ☺). Definitely would consider staying here again. Only opportunity for improvement is to update the instructions to make the guest aware that the wireless network and Netflix for the TV are accessed directly through the TV and not through the DVD player. Might also be good to let them know that this access is easily managed by hitting the big yellow button in the middle of the TV remote. Just a suggestion to aid those less technically inclined. ☺ Overall a great place to stay which helped make our whole stay in Springfield quite enjoyable! Thank you!

Springfield, MO is a great place to live, or visit. There is so much going on here including events, festivals, theatre, parks, trails, shopping, and a quick drive to many rivers, lakes, and of course we're a 45 min drive to Branson MO with their many shows and attractions. Check out Bass Pro Shops, The Simon Mall, or many of the shops downtown or on Historic C-Street for shopping. The Ozark Greenway Trails give you many miles of bicycling, running, or walking opportunities and connect to many parks. Check out the Japanese Stroll Garden located near the Springfield Botanical Center. During Baseball Season head over to Hammons Field to watch a Springfield Cardinals minor league game. Next to that is Jordan Valley Park, and the Mediacom Ice Skate Center where you could watch a hockey game, or go skating yourself. Like to eat out? There a literally HUNDREDS of restaurants around Springfield from any food category that you could think of, and many of the best ones are downtown less than 2 miles away.
