Quiet neighborhood in central Springfield is close to the downtown area, Historic Walnut Street where many festivals take place, MSU, Drury, Evangel, and OTC campuses.
Cheryl has lived in Springfield for several years and is a nurse at Mercy Hospital here in town. Originally from Iowa, Cheryl moved to Missouri in 1983 and lived in the Ozark countryside until 2006 when she moved to the 'city' to be closer to her grandkids.
Cheryl Day purchased this house in 2007
Cheryl purchased this property after renting it for a year and falling in love with it. Since she bought the home she has spent years on fixing it up to it's current loving condition. She also added a loft apartment that is very modern in the upstairs space, with a separate entrance.
This home was built in 1939 by a well known area builder named Carl Bissman who constructed many of the larger homes on Historic Walnut Street one block south. This year the original hardwood floors were refinished to bring back the shine and feel. The arched front door is a feature not seen on many homes, and also features an archway between the dining and living room. The whole house was recently updated with a new electrical system, high efficient HVAC and water heater, all new lighting, new appliances, and fresh warm paint colors throughout.
Your house was perfect for our week-long trip to Springfield! We are co-workers in town for a training course. This gave us some extra elbow room as well as a meeting spot for others in the training to study & hang out. Not to mention it was SOOO much more comfortable than a hotel.
Thank you for opening your home- it is lovely!
We stayed for 6 nights with our 3 young kids and dog. We had a very enjoyable stay with no problems. Would stay at this location again.
We had a great time. This is the second time we have used this HomeAway and it never disappoints! Every thing you need and the owners are very friendly. Hopefully we will see you again next year!
Overall, had a good stay once I got into the house. The house was clean, welcoming, and located close enough to Missouri State campus. The reason for the less than stellar review is that I had a situation trying to get in the house the first night. I learned a lesson and thought I would share it here. Here's what took place. On 08/26/2016, I received a text that my reservation has been accepted and it provided a link to the rental. The information listed the procedures to get into the house and other pertinent information. Therefore, I did not feel the need to follow-up prior to my arrival. I ended up arriving very late to the rental, followed the procedures and could not get in the door. Needless to say I was extremely upset. I called and texted the contact, however, it was too late and did not get a response. Since it was late/early the next morning and I didn't know what else to do, I just slept in my car. About 7:30 am, I received a communication from the owner regarding the procedures to get in. Apparently, the entry procedures have changed and the owner did not know the old ones were out there. After this was straightened out, all was good. However, lesson learned. From now on, I will double check with the owner of any rental for correct entry procedures. I will not assume I have the correct ones. The owner gave me credit for that first night.
We had a small group in town for a Wing festival in 2015 and we will be back next year! The house was clean and had everything we needed and more!
We recently rented this home for my daughter and her bridesmaids. The girls first impression was that it was so cute and very clean. The location is easy to access and the owners are very easy to contact and GREAT to work with. We loved the keyless entry! Would easily rent this home again.
House was very neat and decorated nicely. The restaurant across and down the street serves good food, if cooking isn't on your list of to do's for your vacation. This is our second time staying and when we are back in Springfield, we hope the house will be available again.
Springfield, MO is a great place to live, or visit. There is so much going on here including events, festivals, theatre, parks, trails, shopping, and a quick drive to many rivers, lakes, and of course we're a 45 min drive to Branson MO with their many shows and attractions. Check out Bass Pro Shops, The Simon Mall, or many of the shops downtown or on Historic C-Street for shopping. The Ozark Greenway Trails give you many miles of bicycling, running, or walking opportunities and connect to many parks. Check out the Japanese Stroll Garden located near the Springfield Botanical Center. During Baseball Season head over to Hammons Field to watch a Springfield Cardinals minor league game. Next to that is Jordan Valley Park, and the Mediacom Ice Skate Center where you could watch a hockey game, or go skating yourself. Like to eat out? There a literally HUNDREDS of restaurants around Springfield from any food category that you could think of, and many of the best ones are downtown less than 2 miles away.
