awesome apartment! safe neighbourhood!

Myself and 2 friends stayed in John's Chelsea apartment for 5 nights. This apartment was perfect for us , so close to all the attractions that we were wanting to visit, we were able to walk everywhere and infact walked 65 km total the time we were there. So many quaint restaurants and local shops. The apartment itself had everything we needed and John was so sweet and kind to leave us an assortment of wine and snacks. The gourmet cupcakes were amazing. I would definetley stay there again and would also recommend this place. The apartment was very clean and comfortable, in a unique area of NYC. We were aware of the 4 flights of stairs so that was no surprise. John waited for us to arrive to go over everything and accomodated our late check out. Thanks so much John.

Live like a local in Chelsea!

Imagine lying in a comfy bed looking out the window to a spectacular view of Empire State Building, lit up in all its glory of coloured lights that changed each night!

The room is large and old style.

Add in a spacious unit, longe and dining room and compact kitchen with everything you could possibly need. The sofa is a very comfortable pull out bed if needed.

The furniture is Art Deco and there are windows galore to let in natural light.

Apple TV and local stations and a great selection of cds to play.

The bathroom is functional, water hot and the bathtub easy to get in and out.

This apartment is decked out to be lived in!

There is a subway just around the corner and heaps of shops and Chelsea Markets.

Now meet John the owner. He is there to welcome us, spends lots of time to go through the entire apartment making us feel like this is our abode to enjoy for our stay. The fridge is stocked with beer and wine, and a hamper with lots of snacks!thankyou John!

While here he emails every few days to make sure all is well.

We loved exploring the area, thoroughly recommend Mexeque, $5 margaritas 4-7pm, Italia pizza just across the road.

Will definitely be back again.

Only negative was the four flights of stairs up that might not suit everyone but was not an issue for us!

Perfect location and a host who goes above and beyond.

As described in the other comments the apartment is exactly as described and in a perfect location. What really sets it apart from other rentals I have stayed at is the host. John was quick to return all communication, helpful and accommodating. The added touches of snacks, drinks, cupcakes (which were amazing), toiletries were such a welcome and appreciated touch. I would highly recommend. Thank you John!

Great apartment in a great location

The apartment had all we needed for our week stay, and is in great location very close to the subway. Appreciated the snacks that were left on check in, and John was super accommodating on our check out as well. Felt like a home away from home, don't be put off by the lobby decor, the apartment is very artistic and well kept.

Stay in Chelsea

The owner met us at the property and showed us how everything works. He also checked in, via email, with us several times during the stay. Apartment has plenty of dishes, pots and pans, glasses, etc. Owner is very cordial. Chelsea is a very convenient area of NYC with plenty of restaurants, several museums, the Chelsea Market and Highline. Subway is one block away.

Negatives are the apartment is on the 5th Floor of an older building with no elevator. Stairs are narrow and winding and there doesn't seem to be much maintenance to common areas of the building. Since I am 76 and my wife is 68, stairs presented a daily challenge - particularly when arriving with luggage and departing with luggage. Apartment is small, but has all the things that are needed for a stay. Double bed is against the wall in bedroom so if a couple is staying there, someone needs to crawl over the other person to get in and out of the bed. Plenty of interesting art work in apartment and owner had furnished unit with drinks and snacks before arrival. Cupcakes from local bakery were also a nice touch.

Owner's Response: The stair situation is fully disclosed in the apt description. When asked about specific questions/concerns about the apt after receiving the apt notes, they had none. Yes the building is old but it is clean. What part of Bohemian don't you understand? There is a second bed in the apt plus the main bed can slide in to several other positions. The rental price for this unit is a great value for Manhattan and I'm sorry these people lack the sophistication to see that. John, owner and a senior!
