I grew up in Maplewood, NJ and moved to Wellfleet full time when I was 20. I have lived here full time for 45 years so I must be 65- Oy! I work in the home care business, caring for over 20 homes and contracting construction and maintenance work.I am also a Real Estate Broker and would be happy to help you find your dream home. My off-time passions are racquetball and fishing. I love my beautiful wife Elisa and my life on the Cape!
Nick purchased this House in 1930
Why Nick chose Wellfleet
The home was first purchased by my grandmother in 1930 from Capt.Lorenzo Dow Baker, the founder of United Fruit AKA the Banana King. It was passed to my parents and then to me. I hope to keep it in the family for many more years. We believe it was first built in the late 1700's as a supply store for the fishermen who used the pier that used to be at the end of the road. It was later converted into a Greek Revival Style home @1840. Before the white men took over the area was inhabited by the Wampanoag Tribe. The adjacent dune area has yielded numerous primitive artifacts.
What makes this House unique
I am mostly there to work on the place, which I love doing, and it is the perfect place to be when the flats are open for oystering. Slurp! I live with my wife in the highlands of Cove View Rd. about a quarter mile away. But when we are at the house, just looking at the view makes us calm and happy. Our son got married there and it was the most romantic backdrop. We love this place and think you will, too.

Paradise on the Bay
Our trip could not have been more perfect. We felt right at home in this historic cottage, filled with fresh flowers and sunlight, and nestled away from the crowds. The owners are wonderful people and responsive to any need. We are looking forward to our next stay.
Love at First Sight
This house had everything I could have asked for and more, including very considerate owners. The kitchen was extraordinarily well-equipped (even with a small tv in case the cook was bored) and we made elaborate meals there. There were thoughtful touches like binoculars for bird-watching, books and games, and lots of comfortable outdoor furniture, and a coffee cake greeted us on arrival. The house was well-heated--very comfortable for an off-season stay. The location is wonderful--incredibly peaceful, overlooking Chipman's Cove and the entrance to Wellfleet Harbor. It would provide an escape from busy-season traffic and activity. In short, we will definitely be back.
Another Awesome trip !
We always enjoy staying at the White House! Very excellent!
Spent Thanksgiving week in this warm, New England cottage that I have admired for fifty years from sailing in the cove and looking out from the Wellfleet dock. A wonderful place to relax, recharge and enjoy all that the Cape and this wonderful home offers. A birder’s paradise, with numerous species in the feeders at the kitchen window, in the trees behind the house and on the beach and cove. The house was immaculate and well stocked. We especially enjoyed staying in this historic home both for its ambience and location. It was a privilege to stay there.
Dear Michael, Thanks for the great review! Hope to see you again!
Happy Holidays, Nick
