Description

Photos and Description of this 1 bedroom holiday home in Tollgate Canyon - Towerhouse - Modern Cabin

Towerhouse is located up a semi-improved road off of I80. In the Winter months you must have an all-wheel drive or 4x4 vehicle with snow tires. The roads are plowed, but snow-packed in the Winter and there are 'steep' grades. This is mountain living at it's best, there are lots of log cabins in this friendly community called Pine Meadows Ranch.

The master bedroom is on the top floor of Towrehouse with an open vaulted view of the pyramid ceiling. Exposed wooden beams highlight this 400 sq ft floor. The house if perfect for a couple. If you have 1-2 extra guests there is a choice of using the pull-out couch or inflatable queen mattress on the floor below the master bedroom. (in the living room / kitchen floor)

The views are spectacular and the wildlife is plentiful. On a daily basis we will see Deer, Elk, Moose, Hawks etc. We look across the valley to the 3 Park City area ski resorts; Deer Valley, Park City and Canyons. At night we can see the lights of the Heber Valley.

Towerhouse was fetured in the magazine Utah Syle and design when it was built in 1996. At the time it was cutting edge with it's use of green materials, radiant heat and unique architecture. The house is 4-stories with 200sq feet on each floor. There are some interesting features that will catch the eye of any artist or designer.

Marty's concept and drawings became a reality with Gigaplex's Hank Louis as the architect.

Note: As a disclaimer, we do not guarantee the steps will be free from snow or that the driveway will be cleared. If it snows during your stay, the plow and or blower/tractor may show up. (you may need to move your vehicle). The property manager shovels the stairs before your arrival, but does not visit during your stay. (a shovel will be at the front door)

Exceeded Expectations

  • 5 of 5

Towerhouse is beautiful, comfy and more than well-stocked with everything you might need for your stay. We thoroughly enjoyed our time here. Even in stormy weather. Close enough to town but quiet and secluded. We loved it.

Mountain retreat with incredible views!

  • 4 of 5

This property is situated high up near the crest of the mountain and has views of the valley and the ski areas that are simply fabulous! At night the views of the skies and the views of the valley below are incredible. We enjoyed sunrise and sunset and were never disappointed with the scenery.

There is a five mile drive after you leave the interstate. The road is well maintained and easily traveled, but you do need four wheel drive during the snow season. The drive from the interstate to the house took about 20 minutes , even with all the snow. Not a bad drive at all.

The property was spotless, everything was clean and orderly. The house was well stocked with everything that you would need , other than food. The bathrooms were very clean and well stocked with plenty of towels and cloths. The kitchen was simple in design, but very functional. There were plenty of pots, pans and dishes for any cooking needs.

The house is tastefully decorated and pleasing in colors and textures. You need to be ready for lots of stair climbing, as there are three floors you will be travelling. The owner, Marty, was easy to work with and very helpful and cordial. The only slight complaint that we might have is that we are used to a soft bed and bedding, however the towerhouse has a very firm bed; not uncomfortable, but very firm.

We will certainly stay there again, and we will recommend it to anyone looking for a great mountain getaway!!

Great Experience

  • 5 of 5

This was a great stay at a unique house in a beautiful location. Marty was very nice and helpful with the check-in process. Park City is not too far away and the area is full of adventurous things to do. We truly enjoyed our trip here and would definitely book this house again.

Enjoyed the house and the great views

  • 4 of 5

Towerhouse was a great place to stay outside of the city. It was clean and very comfortable. The deck was a great place to view the Moose, Elk, Deer, and all the different birds. The view of Park City lights at night was spectacular. It will be even better when they get I 80 Westbound finished. Would have enjoyed the swing and bench outside the house but the overgrowth prevented their use. Would recommend Towerhouse for anyone wanting to have easy access to Park City and enjoy the mountain life at the same time.

12 years ago Towerhouse (the name of the house) was only accessible in the winter by snow cat, snowmobile or snowshoes. Today the road is plowed, but remains a snow packed road throughout the winter. Towerhouse is located up a semi-improved road off of I80 at 8000ft. In the Winter months you must have an all-wheel drive or 4x4 vehicle with snow tires. The roads are plowed, but snow-packed in the Winter and there are 'steep' grades.

The views are spectacular and the wildlife is plentiful. On a daily basis we will see Deer, Elk, Moose, Hawks, Porcupines etc. We look across the valley to the 3 Park City area ski resorts; Deer Valley, Park City and Canyons. At night we can see the lights of the Heber Valley.

Towerhouse was featured in Utah Syle & design when it was built in 1996. At the time it was cutting edge with its use of green materials, radiant heat and unique architecture. The house is 4-stories with 490 sq feet on each floor. There are some interesting features that will catch the eye of any artist or designer.
