This house is charming, not my taste in decore; however we spent very little time inside due to the perfect backyard setting. The view is breathtaking. The only issues I would note are that the pool loungers are in complete disrepair. The cushions are torn and chairs are rusty. There aren’t any pool toys or floats, so you have to provide your own. That is tough when flying to the destination. Also, there were only a few wire hangers provided in the entire house. We had to drape our clothes over furniture. Otherwise, we had a great experience and wouldn’t hesitate to return!
Pros and Cons
We just came back from our stay in Temecula.
Pros - Location: The property is about 2 miles from all the wineries; Views: We saw a number of hot air balloons in the distance while sitting outside; Pool/Jacuzzi: If the weather was nicer we definitely would have used them but it rained most of the weekend; Size of the house/number of rooms: We were a party of 8 and there was plenty of room for us; Responsiveness of host: We were in touch with John during our stay and he got back to us very quickly.
Cons - Decor: The house could really benefit from a clearing out of paintings, decor, old furniture, etc.; Linens: New sheets, new towels, new rugs, new pillows, etc. would be great; WiFi: slow and basically nonexistent; Supplies: We couldn't find extra kitchen trash bags or paper towels so we had to buy our own. This isn't a big deal but thought I'd mention it.
Beautiful home & views
The home was beautiful and the property had stunning views.
We truly enjoyed our stay at this beautiful property! The exterior could use some updating - such as the cushions / pillows for the outdoor seating. Property Management was great to deal with and very prompt with answers to our questions...looking forward to staying here again! Thank you!
Stunning view, dated interior
I'd rate this a 3.5. My girlfriends and I stayed here for a 40th birthday trip. The property and views are stunning and totally worth the price. The house fit all 9 women comfortably, and we loved the TV room to hang out and play games.
Unfortunately, the house is dated, especially the bathrooms. The sinks had rust, and the toilets had chipped seats. One of the showers had stained tiles and chipped drywall. While we enjoyed the eclectic decor, we did not enjoy the basic amenities.
We also had a challenge with the propane tank and how long it took to heat the hot tub. It costs extra based on how much you go over, and it turned out the thermostat was broken. The property manager was accommodating, but it took a long time to resolve the issue.
Overall, the scenery was worth dealing with the inside. Half of the women said they'd come back and half would not. So if you can deal with dated amenities, you'll for sure enjoy the view!
This house made us feel like we were in Tuscany.
This beautiful home with its vintage furnishings and spectacular mountain views was the perfect setting for our family holiday celebration. It is conveniently located in wine country. The gardens look as though they were designed by a famous landscape architect. Though the age of some of the furnishings is showing we found everything very comfortable. The kitchen is well appointed and so spacious our family could cook together.
Many of the local wineries have fine restaurants. We drove up the mountain to visit Mount Palomar Observatory and came down to have dinner at the Palomar Winery. The 4 out of 5 rating is only a refection of many of the cushions on the out door furniture need to be replaced. If you love the look of an old Villa you will adore this home like we all did it is a 10.
