A perfect place to stay!!!
Clean, roomy, quiet, and a perfect location. Just a short walk to the beach. Well stocked of items to include spices (the small things count). Morning roosters may wake you up earlier than you wanted, but you get that anywhere on the island. We had a small ant problem in the bathroom, but we put up ant traps and the problem went away. If you want to be away from the fast pace this is the perfect place to stay. But, if you like the fast pace it is a short drive. All appliance worked well. There are fruit and avocado trees that can be used. We also took advantage of the gas grill to cook our meals. Grocery Shopping is also very close. Simply put nothing but outstanding. We will definitely use this property again.
Great Westside Base
Well equipped comfortable cottage. Easy access to everything on the West side
Was or seemed a little more out dated then the brochure. We were referred to this home by a coworker who had stayed here. We lost 100$ worth of groceries for a refrig. that did not work due to previous tenant setting the settings to high (form states not to touch) and spoiled all food inside. Did home resetter check this prior to our arrival? i am gonna say no. If you ask this of us ,you should be checking it on turn over.Being in the multifamily housing industry i am aware of the ins and outs of rentals. Then the bathroom and kitchen both were rampant with black ants in all our belongings. Film/ photos on file. The worst part was when my wife had woken up in the a.m. for coffee and found a man staring in the kitchen window. I asked him what he was doing and he said cking the garbage, Well ya know what keep your head down and check it instead of gawking at my half naked wife, It also states to not bother the neighbors,(noise wise) i am presuming, but what is to be done when the neighbors party so loud you can't sleep? The sunset was great though. At the cost it would have been as simple as a resort stay. But overall it was ok. Unfortunately it rained 5 of the 7 days we were here, Island living i suppose. Thank You again for your home use. Marshall and Lisa La Fave
This is an original plantation cottage that has been kept up very well. Like many older updated houses, it does not look new. People generally love this cottage, and we have many repeat guests each year.
As for the refrigerator, we don't generally check them. The reason being that a guest will let us know during their stay that it is operating improperly and needs a service call. One would not expect a previous guest to turn up the temperature controls, as this make little sense. This guest did not inform us of the situation, so I was not aware of their being an issue. Often times, people come directly from shopping at Costco, and fill an empty refrigerator with warm food. If the items fill the refrigerator completely, the unit struggles to cool down for the first 12 hours. Again, this guest did not makes us aware of an issue with the gardener picking up the garbage in the morning, which is generally between 8 and 9 AM. He has been doing this for 10 years, and I have never had anyone mentioned something like this to me.
When you choose to stay in a local town, and not a resort area, you may experience something like a neighbor having a party. After all, this is where the neighbors live, but they often forget that there are visitors as well.
It was an unusually rainy week, which doesn't happen often, and I can understand how that can put a damper on a vacation.
At home with the local community.
We loved this house! It was private with a complete surround of tropical(of course) trees and is in an actual neighborhood. If I had my own vacation home here it could look a lot like this one. Incoming guests should be aware that it is not really near(walking distance) to anything other than a pretty fabulous and barely used local beach along THE highway. You are close to Weimea which has some great food and JoJo's Shave Ice and Ishihara Market, easy access to the canyon, Hanapepe, etc. Also it is on "the dry side" of the island so while Poi'pu and Hanalei were experiencing heavy rainy season we were largely spared while in Kekaha. Be aware though, that this house is just about as far away from any sort of "action" that Kauai has so this is a base camp for adventures and most traditional activities one associates with Hawaii are usually an hour drive away at least. We really didn't mind because we prefer to avoid crowded beaches and don't mind driving through lovely Kauai.
Overall if you are looking for a price-friendly home base in a Kauai neighborhood then this is a good fit but be prepared to travel to see the sights.
We enjoyed our stay in this lovely 2 bedroom retreat in the western region of Kauai. The cottage was well appointed and comfortable. The grounds were beautiful and we enjoyed the tropical foliage. It was a nice change from the more densely populated commercial areas.
A perfect out of the way cottage
We loved the quiet neighborhood. Close to a beach and easy to find.
Short drive to the Waimea Canyon and Kokee State Park for the island's best hiking opportunity....access road is only a few blocks to the West
