My wife and I live in Gainesville and love to spend long weekends and vacations in this unique getaway town that resembles Florida of old and has so much history. You can visit the local historic sites, shop for antiques or just relax in a chair on the private beach area.
Every room in the townhome has a view of the water (either the Gulf or the Marina). The master bedroom has a queen bed with storage drawers underneath plus there is a full 'California-style' built in dresser/closet with plenty of storage. The master bedroom has a private balcony that overlooks the Gulf of Mexico. The guest bedroom come complete with two twin beds the each also have trundle beds and storage drawers underneath. The view from the guest bedroom is the on-site marina (naviagable by small bay and flats boats only; ask for detals).
The living room has a full sized microfiber sleeper sofa with 2 matching chairs and a 32' flat screen television with built-in dvd player. There is a bar height corner dining suite with seating for upto 8 plus a breakfast bar in the kitchen with seating for an additional 3. The kitchen includes stainless appliances (fridge, stove, microwave, & dishwasher) plus beautiful granite countertops. All the dinnerware, utensils, and cookware are provided for your convenience.
The bathroom and laundry facilities have been recently renovated. The bathroom has plenty of storage including a full cabinet beneath the sink and an above the toilet cabinet as well. There is a full sized porcelain tub with a tile surround that include a decorative listel and inset tiled soap/shampoo ledge. The laudry faciltiy has a newer front load washer and dryer and lots of storage space.
The food choices are outstanding. There are a variety of local seafood markets where you can purchase fresh seafood including locally caught fish, stone crabs, blue crabs, oysters, and crabs. The kitchen is completely set up to allow you to create your own seafood feast. If cooking isn't your thing, there are plenty of restaurants but don't forget to try Tony's world famous (and award winning) clam chowder or the Island Room for a gourmet dinner. And there are plenty of night life choices that are walking distance to the townhome. We recommend the Black Dog for their unique choices of worldwide beers and wines plus their laid back island style. You may also rent a golf cart locally if you find that to be more convenient for your island travels.
The fishing here is unbelievable! If you are an inshore fishing enthusiast you won't find many better places for redfish, trout, or black drum. Spanish mackeral, shark, cobia, and the occasional tarpon are also caught in the area. If you enjoy going offshore, grouper, snapper and kingfish are readily available (check the regulations to verify seasons for keeping each species). There is also an abundance of tasty grunts, seabass, and triggerfish that make for an amazing fish fry. Cedar Key is also one of the closest ports to the world famous Florida Middle Grounds (80-90 miles offshore; the picture of me with the red snapper was taken there) where the offshore fishing is amazing and worth the cost for this once in a lifetime (unless you get addicted like me) trip. There are local captains available for hire for all types of fishing or you can bring your own boat.
Our 'Slice of Paradise' is one of the most relaxing places you'll ever visit. Every room is designed for comfort, convenience, luxury and relaxation. Enjoy your stay with us.

I'm a Gainesville resident that loves offshore fishing and scuba diving. My wife and kids all share my passion and love for the coast and the water. My wife and I chose Cedar Key for our vacation home because we love the laid back atmosphere, the great food, the 'throwback' to Old Florida, and the outstandind fishing. Our condo has some of the absolute best views in the area.
Big Slick Investors, LLC purchased this townhome in 2009
Cedar Key is a wonderful mix of historic old Florida combined with the necessities of today's busy lifestyles. It is a wonderful town that has the unique qualities of being remote while still being convenient.
'A Slice of Paradise' is a short walk from the downtown shops, restaurants, the public park, public beach, both boat ramps, and the public marina. Don't forget to bring your boat and experience some of the best fishing the Gulf of Mexico has to offer. If you aren't into fishing but love seafood there are a plethora of choices for great seafood and traditional cuisines as well. The night life options are abundant and all within walking distance as well. You will find this to be one of the most relaxing places in Florida. Kids and adults will enjoy it equally.
We had a wonderful weeklong stay and it was great. We've never stayed closer to the water!!! It was a last minute decision to stay here because our original vacation plans were canceled by the owner. We searched and searched to find something; my family had already taken off work so I had to find a place to stay. 'A Slice of Paradise' looked exactly like the pictures. If you're looking for a nice place to truly "get away" this is it. Cedar Key is a wonderful area. The restaurants offered delicious food and the hospitality was great.
We threw together this trip quickly, after a rough winter (normally we plan MONTHS in advance) so we were a bit nervous about whether we would like the townhouse AND Cedar Key. All our fears were unfounded. The residence is just lovely, extremely clean and updated. We enjoyed the decks and watching the dolphins and birds and the kayaking. Every restaurant we tried was absolutely wonderful; food and atmosphere and the local residents were friendly and welcoming. And, the owner was extremely kind and gracious. We will definitely return.
Very, very comfortable. Very, very clean. The owner is very accommodating. He helped us with a family issue that we had, which we appreciated very much. It helped us get through a very tough time. Thanks again Phil.
This place and community is as advertised, a paradise. We came in as visitors and left feeling like residents. All the local restaurants and bars are great. We loved Steamer's and the big deck the best. Tony's was also great. The birds are incredible. We had a bald eagle right in front of our condo for about 30 minutes while he snacked on a dead fish. We saw dolphins almost every day. I was in close contact with pelicans while I was fishing. Did good, but I am a rookie. Clams and oysters are the best I've had. The only stipulation is, you must be prepared to relax. We can't wait to come back next year.
Slice od Paradise was exactly that. And Cedar Key is a treasure. No big box retail..no McDonalds. The perfect place to see Old Florida as I remember it growing up. There aren't many place like it anymore.
The condo is very comfy and nicely furnished. We really enjoyed watching the birds and dolphins from the decks...and the sunsets are amazing. Do rent a boat and visit the other islands and get the water view.
Friendly people, great food, a go cart and a truly unique island make for the perfect Paradise!
Our stay was wonderful! The home was clean and the updated kitchen was great. The linens were top notch. The only drawback was the lack of storage chests and night stands in the room with the twin beds. We remedied this by bringing in a side table from one of the decks. The location of this condo is perfect for bird and dolphin watching, and it is exceptional for launching your kayak on the beach immediately to the left of the condo. The two decks were perfect for morning coffee or to get a peek at the moon. One warning: If you have a full sized truck or large vehicle, you won't be able to get it into the very narrow carport under the condo; however this was a great place to store our kayaks. Also there is no operational fish cleaning table on the premises. There is no WiFi and cell service was weak or intermittent, but you go to Cedar Key to get away from it all! Overall we were very pleased.
Very well-equipped property. Visited in July 2014 with our 10 and 9 year olds. Condo located very conveniently near docks and Main Street area. Very comfortable with nice view from both balconies. Newer furnishings and appliances.
Lots to do in Cedar Key. Cedar Key Paddling delivered kayaks to beach next to condo. Lots of great paddling from beach at property. 2-block walk to marina/docks for boat tours, boat rentals, and charter fishing. Multiple restaurants within walking distance. Didn't even drive vehicle for several days.
Would definitely stay here again.
World class inshore fishing for redfish, seatrout, & black drum, offshore fishing for grouper, kingfish, amberjack & snapper, local charters available or bring your own boat.
