About Vicki Beal

Doug Beal, Jr. a 5th generation, lived in Southwest Harbor his whole life. He and his wife, Vicki, owned a Marine Conctruction and Diving Business for 41 years. They decided to start a retirement business, so, they began building seasonal rental cottages. Doug completed 3 of them before he passed away in the summer 2015 ( Homeaway #956783 and #3498716 ). Vicki is carrying on the business that she and Doug started, together.

The three cottages can house 19 happy vacationers, (for a group looking to vacation, together), or rent one for a family. Woodland Cottages I, II and III, all have great holiday appeal ~

Vicki Beal purchased this cottage in 2014

Great cabin and great location

  • 5 of 5

Great place. Exactly as described. Perfect location for our family. Easy to access Bar Harbor and Acadia...20 minute drive. Southwest Harbor is a quaint town. Main Street (shops, restaurants) is an easy walk from the cabin. The cabin was a perfect space for our family...clean and all amenities provided. Would highly recommend.

The Perfect Place to Be When Tourist Season Hits!

  • 5 of 5

I've always stayed closer to Bar Harbor when visiting Mount Desert Island every year, but this year I decided to try Southwest Harbor. I finally got the chance to stay for an entire month, and LOVED it! The location is perfect! You have privacy and quiet, yet all the shops and restaurants are just five minutes away (by foot!). I worked virtually from the cottage, and I must say...this was the best Internet that I've had from any rental on the island. I never once had issues with my connection, and I was able to stream live video conference meetings while working. Since I was staying an entire month, it was very important that I could keep up with my work. The cottage is beautiful and comfortable. You have everything that you need! The owner lives in the house up the hill and is there if you need her, but she also totally respects your privacy. I'm very grateful that I was able to bring my dogs with me, and having my parents come visit for part of the month was also a special treat. They, too, loved the cottage and the setting. My mom told me that she much preferred staying in Southwest Harbor over Bar Harbor, where the summer activities were really starting to pick up by the end of June.

Home Away For Home!

  • 5 of 5

The property description was just as described on the VRBO property information page. It was home away from home. The cottage was very clean and well supplied with everything we needed. The owner (Vicki) was attentive if needed and very easy to contact. I would highly recommend the cottage to family and friends alike. We spent most of out time in park (ANP) during the day and did most of our cooking at the cottage so we didn't eat out much, but we did eat breakfast at Testa's on main street Bar Harbor a few mornings which was very good (5 stars). Pancakes and maple syrup, yum!

If your planning your visit to (ANP), don't hesitate to book with Vicki Beal in Southwest Harbor, Property ID 3498723. You will not be disappointed.

Bryan,

Great Little Getaway

  • 5 of 5

What a great cabin! Vicki was very nice and communicative. The cabin was stocked with everything we needed, including the most important: coffee. Very clean and well-maintained. We liked that it was slightly off the beaten path, but still walking distance to restaurants and the marina. We would definitely stay again and recommend it!

Good Option

  • 4 of 5

The house is in a very convenient location if choosing Southwest Harbor location. It was clean, uncluttered and had everything we needed for a week. Vicki was extremely responsive in all communications leading up to our stay, which was much appreciated. The house was close to town, but was quiet due to location within trees and with reasonable distance to other homes. The back deck is large and a great star viewing site. Overall, a nice choice for visitors that spend a good balance of time out with a home base to return to in evening.

About perfect

  • 5 of 5

Excellent property - walking distance to the center of Southwest Harbor but out of the way enough to feel far from the city, and when you sit on the deck, all you see is the woods behind the house. It's just down the hill and about five minutes on foot to several local restaurants, the ice cream shop (which also sells some take-out food), and a small (though definitely a bit pricey) grocery with a decent wine selection for a small town. It is only a few minutes driving distance to Long Pond (kayak rentals, or bring your own) & Echo Lake and easy enough to drive about 20 minutes to Bar Harbor and the rest of Acadia. Anything you can't find in Southwest Harbor, you can find in Bar Harbor. There is a bigger grocery store about 3 miles away, on the edge of SW Harbor, and an even bigger one in BH.

Nice house with two beds (one in a loft, one in the basement), a full washer and dryer, a love seat in the living room that feels like it is in a separate nook even though it is right next to the sofa, full kitchen and bath, etc. Lots of windows for light & air circulation. Vicki (the owner) supplied the basics, and with a couple of stops at the grocery store, we were set for the week. Our dogs loved it too. The owner lives right around the back, and is around if you need something or have questions, but leaves you alone so that you can enjoy the quiet you came up for! She is very friendly.

Would definitely return and/or recommend.
