We are the Kleinhenz family. We love living in Juneau and enjoying the outdoors. Hiking and fishing as a family are our favorite activities. We hope your stay with us will be comfortable and enjoyable. Please contact us if you have any questions. We would love to talk with you.
Christine and Brian purchased this apartment in 2010
This property provides some of the best views in town. The ocean is steps from the apartment and you can see downtown and the mountains along with the ever changing tides from the apartment. The house is close to downtown and lots of great hikes. It's the perfect combination of being away from it all and near it all at once.
The property is surrounded by wonderful gardens and a deck available for relaxing and enjoying the views. We have a fireplace to keep you warm at night and a sauna steps from the ocean at high tide. A bonfire pit with wood is ready for your use as well at the high tide mark. We use flowers from the yard to decorate the apartment and you will enjoy the local art on the walls.
"I have owned and operated B&B's in Colorado for twenty years and I must commend Christine on the accommodations. She has though of everything to make our stay absolutely wonderful! Her decorating style is beautiful and so very cozy!"
Great location that feels private and secluded with gorgeous views out of all the windows of the channel and Juneau. My son and I stayed there with my 3 year old granddaughter and it was absolutely perfect for our needs. It felt more like a home than an apartment. Everything was clean and cozy and since it was the end of January we spent a lot of time inside but were able to take walks along the channel. I imagine it would be great to stay during the spring or summer when you could enjoy using the outdoor space more, including the fire pit. Christine was extremely accommodating but gave us our privacy. The kitchen was functional and we prepared most of our meals there. The beds are extremely comfortable with beautiful linens. We really had everything we needed. We loved our quality time we got to spend with my granddaughter and will definitely stay again next time we travel to Juneau. If you need a place to stay in Juneau, I highly recommend this one.
This is a very clean, spacious and lovely apartment. Very comfortable beds, and as was the furniture in the living room. It was so nice to be able to fix food there and then sit at the table in the living room and eat it looking out the picture window. Our dinner one night was fish caught by Christine that day and brought to us by Brian. They were also very respectful of our privacy. The apartment is very convenient to the Juneau Douglas bridge and downtown Juneau.
The views from the picture windows are beautiful- across the Gastineau Channel to Mt. Juneau and Mt. Roberts and downtown Juneau. We enjoyed watching the changing tides, the birds and seals from the window, as well as the changing light on the mountains. In warmer weather, it would be wonderful to sit out on the deck or at the fire pit down by the water. We had a very enjoyable stay.
We've never stayed in a vacation rental that made us feel so at home. This rental is super cozy, comfortable, and well-equipped. The owners are gracious and welcoming. Also, very kid friendly. The location is ideal, just 5 minutes from downtown, but with a feeling of quiet seclusion. But, hands down, the best part is the view. You get full, unobstructed water views from the living room and one bedroom, and I could easily have spent a week sitting in a comfy living room chair reading and looking out the window at the awesome view. Unfortunately, we had rainy weather throughout our stay, but with a home base like this, I was happy to lounge about.
Location is unbeatable...a couple walkable miles from town with a great view. Backyard is perfect for an evening fire with plenty of driftwood within reach. The interior is well maintained, clean and has everything you could need with plenty of space and amenities. Ample hiking nearby...both on the island and across the bridge. The owners are more than helpful and friendly. I'd rebook the place without a second thought.
We stayed at "Tidewatcher" for 4 nights. We were delighted with our hosts communication and had every need met quickly. Our family (my husband and I and my parents) loved our time in Juneau. The kitchen was well appointed beyond your basic appliances and a few pots/pans. They supplied many basic kitchen staples such as ground coffee, spices, zip-locs, etc. The beds were every comfortable though it would have been nice to have 2 pillows per person. Closet space is bountiful for large suitcases or, in our case, backpacking packs. The shower provided hot water quickly with excellent water pressure. The unit is wonderfully clean too! The property was a quiet refuge for us after long days outside hiking or on the water. Luckily, our hosts left instructions on how to use their outdoor sauna after a chilly, rainy day travelling the Tracey Arm Fjord. We also enjoyed watching the bald eagles flying very nearby or as they sat on the shore during low tide. The only downside was an awkward entrance to the unit. You do have a private entrance but you must go under the deck and into a strange storage area that isn't very inviting. Not a big deal by any means. We would stay again in a heartbeat. "Tidewatcher" is a lovely, comfortable 2 bedroom, 1 bathroom apartment and we highly recommend it!
Nice, clean property with great view and many amenities! Very kind & considerate owners.
It's a few miles out of Juneau which we really liked!
