We include a continental breakfast and basic cooking supplies and amenities in the kitchen, including a coffee maker and fresh tea and coffee. We also provide farm-fresh eggs you can collect yourselves from the nearby chicken coop or, if you'd prefer, we're happy to collect your organic eggs for you from our free-ranging chickens. Why Joy Cutrone chose Hollis

We have capitalized on Peter's years of experience as an innkeeper in New England and our shared love of travel to bring you a warm cottage experience in a quintessentially American setting, a Maine farm. With the comforts and conveniences of home, and access to a greater range of activities than you can even do combine to give you a vacation experience that you’ll treasure for years to come.

What makes this apartment unique

Moment's Peace Farm is that rare property where every visitor greets us at the door saying, 'What a beautiful setting.' It just has that New England charm, not the least owing to the beautiful restored 19th Century barn that greets you among the rolling hills as you enter the property. There is a lovely pond a leisurely stroll through the fields, beautiful woods, farm pastures, an organic garden, free-ranging chickens, and even a friendly Samoyed to greet you when you arrive. Relax and restore in your private suite, or nestle in with a good book on your private back deck, keeping one eye out for visiting wildlife. Then pop into Portland for the day to take in the museums or visit Casco Bay or the surrounding beaches. You can explore all you'd like, then enjoy a moment's peace at the end of the day.

Guestbook comments from the owner

One of our cottage guest's reviews: "The owners, Joy and Peter, were very responsive, though our contact with them was minimal because the cottage provided everything we needed. My only regret is that I didn't book the entire week... but we'll be back."

A much needed relaxing stay.

  • 5 of 5

This was our first time visiting Maine. We spent 4 nights here. My girlfriend and I loved it. It was close enough to explore Portland and Kennebunkport. We spent plenty of time just relaxing on the deck and watching the horses and stars. My girlfriend loved the pool and the horses.

We barely even left the property to drive home before we started making plans to comeback in the future. I would definitely recommend Moment's Peace to anyone looking for a place to relax and enjoy the quiet of rural Maine.

Serene location but close to Portland

  • 5 of 5

We enjoyed our stay - this location is very quiet and peaceful. We were able to get to Portland in 30 minutes but still have the quiet of a country setting. We would recommend this guest house!

Absolutely Amazing Place to Stay!

  • 5 of 5

Beautiful property, extremely comfortable living space, perfect proximity for all the surrounding adventures Maine has to offer. So awesome that we already booked our second trip! The farm is quiet, relaxing and picturesque, surrounded by beautiful fields and tall pine trees. Joy was extremely welcoming and knowledgeable. We enjoyed conversations with her and spending some time with the resident chickens and horses. We look forward to many more vacations at the Moment's Peace Farm.

A beautiful property with very accommodating and welcoming hosts.

  • 5 of 5

This is our 2nd visit to Moments Peace and with good reason. The property is excellent and well situated to allow easy access to many places in Maine and the wider area. Joy and Peter were excellent and we would have no hesitation in returning for a 3rd time.

Wonderful stay

  • 5 of 5

This property was exactly as described. The owners are right across the way to help if you need anything, but very respectful of your privacy. We are a family of four and had plenty of space. The property is expansive and beautiful. My favorite place was the back porch looking out over a tree-backed pasture. Perfect place to have a cup of coffee in the morning or a glass of wine after dinner. We went shopping and hiking in Freeport and caught a Portland Sea Dogs game...all within 45 minutes or less from the property. We look forward to being able to return for another long weekend.

Owner's Response: Wonderful! We're so glad you enjoyed the deck especially, and caught a Sea Dogs game! That's such a great find - the Red Sox farm team within easy reach. We look forward to your return should you come back this way again in future! - Joy & Peter

Best apartment on our trip

  • 5 of 5

This is the best apartment we had on our trip through Canada and US. It is spacious and very comfortable and located on a beautiful, quite farm about a half an hour drive from Portland. The kitchen and the whole apartment is very well equiped with everything you need. We really appreciated the pool towels and the washing/drying machine. On the farm you find a very nice and well kept pool, chickens and horses. The owners are very nice and helpful.

This is an excellent place to vistit Portland and midcoast Maine. We can definitly

recommend the apartment.

One can use a nice pool and the the owners offered fresh eggs from their chickens.

Moment’s Peace Farm is an 80-acre hobby farm as well as a residence and horse rescue. We have a restored 19th Century barn and extensive fields and woods, as well as a detached building in which your private vacation apartment is located. You are surrounded by beautiful pastoral views, and you can immediately access walking, swimming, sledding, cross-country skiing, lawn games and wildlife viewing right outside your door. Tennis and golf are right up the road. The Saco River is easily accessible for some fine canoeing, whether flat water or white water, whichever you seek. There are small country stores and a range of restaurants nearby, from diners and pizza places to pub dining and Thai food. A full grocery store is within easy access. Portland's fine dining is an easy drive away. Three quaint libraries are also in our immediate area, as are many farms, as well as walking, skiing, equestrian, and snowmobile trails.

Then, within half an hour you can be in either the Kennebunks or Portland, where there are many sights to see. From first-class beaches to museums, art, architecture, cultural events and theatre, there is always something fun to do. Dine on the water, take a ferry to a Casco Bay island, or take a whale watch tour. Ride the Downeaster train to Boston and back in an easy day. Or, in an hour's drive, you can rent a boat on Sebago or Kezar Lakes, visit the mountains of Western Maine or be in the White Mountains for some world-class hiking. Moment's Peace Farm is very well situated to access any of a number of activities, without being either in the thick of the city or remote from amenities. You can do almost anything you'd like, and then enjoy the peace and quiet of the farm when you come home.
