When you enter the property there is a sign requesting that you remove your shoes, which I immediately did - actually I thought that was a bit much but did it anyway. Once inside I discovered the wall to wall carpeting had stains literally every few feet. I immediately let the management company know and was told that they can't clean the carpet when they have back to back rentals. In fact, the place was dirty from top to bottom. The baseboards were filthy and there were cobwebs on some ceiling corners. The cabinet that holds the kitchen garbage can smelled bad. The place is poorly lighted with inadequate lamps. Several light bulbs were burned out and were never replaced, even though I let the management company know within minutes of arriving and was told they would be replaced. For all the hype about the quality of the property, the actual conditions were disappointing.
Staff of rental company difficult to deal with. They mostly seemed disinterested or annoyed as if I was somehow being a bother. I had to call several times after we left the property before our security payment was returned. I was told the day we left that the money would be returned by next business day and a week later no action had been taken. Finally I called and spoke to an efficient and professional staff member and was told the process would be initiated immediately. I received a receipt to that affect within the hour and the funds have been returned.
The good stuff - the apartment was spacious and the location was excellent. There is a nice outdoor patio where we took our breakfast (but no grill as stated online). Culver City is close to the beach and well situated for easy access to the rest of the city. The regular residents of the complex were rarely seen and when they were, were friendly.
Great location with coffee shops, restaurants etc and lively Culver City nearby (go to Arcana Books in the Helms Bakeries). Comfortable and roomy apartment with laundry facilities, a terrace, pool and hot tub access, secure apartment development (this is the only short-term rental in the place). Live Luxe staff are very friendly and helpful, and will meet every reasonable request. A few improvements here and there would be welcome (bedside reading lamps are inadequate) but that's a small complaint. Definitely a great and financially reasonable alternative to a hotel.
We stayed at the Amethyst property for 2 weeks in December. It was a wonderful home for 2 weeks. Kaitlin was great to work with - always very responsive. The apartment was clean, very nicely furnished and the kitchen was sufficiently stocked. It is very centrally located - a quick walk to Culver City center, not far from the light rail, and close to buses. It is in a non-residential part of Culver City. But the apartment itself was quiet. Overall a great place to stay.
I forgot to mention on my previous review that we were in town for my daughters graduation. When we arrived at the condo there was a large card and balloons on the dining room table. Nice touch!
The location was perfect as it was near our daughter. Restaurants, shopping and grocery are nearby. The community and the condo were clean, up to date and pleasing to the eye. Caitlyn and Laurie were very helpful during the rental process. Our arrival was later in the day, Laurie met us at the condo and took us through the check in process. She made sure all our questions were answered and even gave my wife a short tour of the complex. The condo had everything you need for a short or long stay.
I arrived at this apartment in Culver City with my family (husband and two small children) in January. From before we arrived Kaitlin was in constant touch and extremely friendly and helpful. We only stayed in the apartment for one week as we were waiting for another one (The Ruby) in a different area to become free, however we found the Amethyst to be excellently equipped and very comfortable. Loads of wardrobe space, loved the fire in the lounge and all the basics (soap, washing powder, kitchen / bathroom roll) all provided which makes a huge difference. The entire space was clean and very well maintained, as was the entire complex. The complex gym is small but we never had to wait very long for a machine and the pool and hot tub went down well with the children.
The apartment is close to Culver City Boulevard where there are lots of cafes and restaurants, however I can recommend the Overland Cafe which is a 5 minute walk from the apartment and serves excellent food although you'd never have guessed it from the outside.
Laurie from guest services went out of her way to help me move our suitcases and children to the next apartment, even going so far as to drop us off at a shopping centre and picking us back up again later when the apartment was ready. Any email or question has been answered very quickly and I would thoroughly recommend Live Luxe.
Beautiful Downtown Culver City.
