I grew up in St. Croix and became a contractor and built Aqua Blue Villa and other homes on the island. I currently live on St. Croix and travel the mainland and other carribbean islands.
Martin Massicott purchased this villa in 2006
After living here for many years and visiting the eastern part of the island, my dream was to own property and build a beautiful villa. This area is unique with it's natural beauty of the carribbean sea and rolling hillsides.
I chose this end of the island to build this villa because it is minutes from Point Udall which is the eastern most point in the U.S.A. There is a sundial known as the Millennium Monument built above Point Udall for the New Year's celebration in 2000. It marks the azimuth of the first U.S. sunrise of that year. The area has breath taking views and private beaches which are accessible to the public free of charge. All beaches in St. Croix are public. There is no admission for parking, sunbathing, or swimming.
The home is very nice and spacious and accomodated our family of six (two adults, four children) perfectly. It was especially nice to have the pool as the kids would jump in and play as soon as they woke up and relax in it after a day of exploring.
I will say that the home was quite dusty and dirty when we arrived. Thick layer of dust on shelves, which I cleaned off, microwave was greasy and had leftover food products in it. Stove had grease on it, fridge was dirty on the inside with food particles. Everyone's fridge gets crumbs in it from everyday use but I would have thought that it would have been thoroughly cleaned after one patron leaves and before another arrives. Cabinets and cabinet handles were greasy. Ceiling fans had a thick layer of dust on them, so much so that when we would turn them on, clumps of dust would fall down on the ground and even into our food when we turned the one on over the dining table. We found two dead lizards in the master bedroom that obviously had been there for awhile as the only thing remaining were the little bones, which makes me think a thorough cleaning just wasn't done prior to our arrival. The air conditioning unit in the master bedroom was very week and left us with poor nights of sleep because of the intense heat never cooling down. Other rooms AC worked fine.
The home is about 10 years old I think from the description given and could use a little bit of touching up but other than the less than stellar cleanliness of it, it was a nice stay. Please be aware that the home is located on the southeastern side of the island, about a twenty minute drive to downtown Christiansted, and then about a 35 minute drive to downtown Frederiksted.
The owner/manager, Helene, was very kind and pleasant.
Our stay at the villa was amazing! The view is absolutely to die for! The house is very secluded and private. The house was extremely clean and comfortable.
Helene and Martin were the best hosts, and really make our stay perfect! They picked us up at the airport and escorted us back to the lovely home. I would recommend renting a car to explore the island. They coordinated a private chef, Julianne, who made some of the best Caribbean food we have ever put in our mouths! They also made some restaurant recommendations that were top notch- Blue Water Terrace and Duggans Reef are a must!
This home is truly a paradise and is a great home away from home! Hope to come back to celebrate many anniversaries!
Within 2 hours of arriving at the villa we had a medical emergency. Helene was my guardian angel through the entire thing. Going to the hospital with us, sitting with me, and bringing me back to get our car. What an amazing woman!! After a few stressful days we were able to relax and what a great place for it. The house is stunning and very comfortable. We had a lovely welcome basket from Helene and Martin that we thoroughly enjoyed. All of the comforts of home were there and we never went without anything. We could walk to the beach and to the local pizza place. Close drive for many great restaurants. The owners supplied amazing customer service and I would recommend this home to anyone who wants to relax and enjoy island life. I can't say enough about the homeowners. They are a wonderful family that was there for us for anything we needed. Definitely went above and beyond any expectations that we had. We have been home for less than a week and already miss everything about it. Hope to return again soon. Thank you again Helene for all you did. I wouldn't have made it without you.

My wife and I stayed at the Aqua Blue Villa for a week in January. Helene was so kind to meet us at the airport when we arrived because the roads can be very confusing and it helped to get used to driving on the left side of the road. The house and property were gorgeous and we had all the essentials we needed (towels, sheets, etc.) The pool and pool deck were very spacious with beautiful views of the Caribbean. There were lots of comfy lounge chairs and a nice outdoor dining table and chairs. There were only two of us, but we think it would be a great place for a large family to stay. The house is in close proximity to Divi Resort where there is a really great pizza place and you can use the beach there if you like. There are also Crab Races on Wednesday nights, which is really fun and would be a great activity for kids.
Thank you so much for your hospitality Helene! We can't wait to come back and stay again.
We spent 8 days in this beautiful villa and it was amazing. We have stayed in many HomeAway properties throughout the world and this home was one of our favorites. The view from the home was gorgeous and the property location was perfect for getting to all sides of the island. Helene and Martin are the best hosts and the answered all our questions. There was a small power outage on the island and they immediately came over to help start a backup generator. We loved the welcome basket of goodies and fresh coconuts.
All appliances and air conditioners worked great, pool was clean, rooms were spacious and house was very well stocked with everything you may need for an island vacation.
We were a group of 7 (2 adults and 5 children/teens) and the house was very generous in size. We spent much of our time around the pool as the outside area has plenty of loungers and patio furniture with an umbrella for shade.
There are so many fun things to do on this beautiful island. We loved the beer drinking pigs, Carambola tide pools, Rainbow Beach and snorkeling at Buck Island. Dinners at Cheeseburger in Paradise, Duggan's Reef and Rum Runners were also a hit.
This was our second trip to the Island and stay at the Aqua Blue Villa. It was like being away for a year and going home again. I wondered if the second time around at the Aqua Blue Villa would be as great as the first time. I have to say, that the second time was even better on so many levels. The fact that we knew how to get to the villa on our own and where to shop for groceries made our trip even more relaxing. The addition of a A/C in the Main living area made all the difference in the world. The property was as expected, Clean, well stocked, and very comfortable.
Arriving at the Aqua Blue Villa this year, we thought we would get out more...but again we spent the first three day at the villa, relaxing and enjoying the property, taking our morning walks, enjoying the views of the area. After visiting more of the island this time, we have concluded that the South Slob Area, where the Aqua Blue Villa is located, is the most beautiful part of the island..
We were treated to a spectacular event this year of seeing hundreds of thousands of yellow butterflies flying across the property everyday from about 9am to 3pm....You can' t help but think, that the Aqua Blue Villa is just a magical place in a great location. Again most of our time was spent outside in the pool area.
Helene was great as ever...seeing her again was like visiting an old friend. The welcome basket of fruit and rum was excellent. When I return again, I will stay at the Aqua Blue Villa...for me, there is no other place to stay...Aqua Blue Villa is truly my Home away from Home.
Thanks again Helene...I will be returning
