My wife and I are both professionals and currently live in the USA. I was a student at the University of York and we love the city. We have four boys and The Brierley is our second holiday rental in the UK and we hope to build on the success of our first property.

What a beautiful apartment! We have loved our time here - thank you for all the thoughtful touches that make this such a perfect place to stay.
This was a wonderful way to start Christmas, especially the minster bells this morning.

The flat was as described in a great location opposite York Minster. It was clean and spacious with plenty of high-end cooking gear and comfortable beds. When we arrived, however, there was no heat. We phoned the property manager who told us to read the instruction manual, but the lengthy instructions she left didn't make any sense. She said she couldn't get heating engineers in on a weekend, so we were without heat for three days. It turns out two of the the thermostats had dead batteries. (Why design heating thermostats to run on batteries instead of 24v house current?) In addition, we had no wi-fi. I tried to reset the router, but it was nowhere to be found. The heating engineer found it in a locked closet. Why not leave it out for tenants to reset which has to be done quite often for most routers? A wi-fi router is not something anyone would want to steal or damage. The wi-fi instructions also forgot to mention that there was an ethernet cable behind the desk in case the wi-fi didn't work. So besides no heat for three days, we had no internet and had to use up data on our phones. Given the price we paid to let the flat, it would have been nice to have been met by the manager when we arrived, but we only had phone contact with her. A confused Chinese family arrived at our door late at night. They were looking for a flat let by the same property manager. It took us sometime wandering around the area in the dark to help them find the flat and gain entrance to it. Once again, she should have been there to meet them when they arrived. In general, this would have been a 5 star review were it not for the disappointing management.
Beautifully appointed apartment in a perfect location. The whole place was very clean and well maintained. The owners have thought of everything you could ever need for a luxury holiday in York. We will recommend and most certainly return as soon as we can!
Unloading bags etc is a little tricky as there are double yellow lines everywhere outside but it is possible to hover and get your things out of the car (as long as the pub delivery lorry isn't there too!) There are also 2 flights of steps to the front door to negotiate with your belongings. Once the car is in the secure car park you don't really need it again as everything in York is within walking distance!
The apartment is lovely - wooden floors, tastefully furnished and clean with 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms (one en-suite - good water pressure in shower & decent towels provided) plus an open plan kitchen/dining room/sitting room with Denby crockery proper coffee machine TV etc and the amazing Minster views!
The apartment can be a little noisy at times - Minster bells - Pub deliveries and various guides shouting at tourists - but not unbearable and kind of adds to the vibe of being in the centre of town.
There are lots of pubs restaurants and all sorts of places to visit in York - all within walking distance and it only takes about 2mins walk to get up on the walls so the apartment really is in a perfect location!
We enjoyed the most spectacular week in York, walking the city walls and pedestrian streets. But perhaps the best part was the apartment--so warm, well-equipped, and inviting. The view towards the Minster is gorgeous, and the bells on Sunday and Evensong with the children's choirs made our vacation almost fairy tale. We early in the week discovered Drake's, the Punch Bowl, and the Lamb and the Lion pub just through the snickleway and around the corner. We will return! But until we can, we recommend Kimberley and the Brierley as a top-rated experience.
You couldn't find a better location or a more comfortable accommodation-truly a home away from home. The view from the living room window is just as pictured of the York Minster. Everything is truly first class without being too pretentious. Comes with a parking spot a block away-but we could unload right at the front door and then park. Stayed five days-wish we could have stayed longer. Had all the modern conveniences including wi-fi and laundry facilities.
This first floor apartment is beautifully furnished to a very high standard but still remains extremely welcoming and comfortable and very warm and cosy. The bed linen is lovely and soft with comfy beds and there are large white fluffy towels in the bathrooms. The whole apartment including the stairs and lobby are spotless.
Located right in the city centre next to York Minster you are only a couple of minutes walk to anywhere. There are lots of restaurants and tea rooms to choose from, but try the tearooms in Mulbury Hall (fine china and ornaments) - the cinammon tea cakes are yummy.
This is an ideal place to stay if you want to explore York on foot, and I would not hesitate to recommend it.
