'Schuss Platz' is a traditional ski chalet with a large deck overlooking the valley. It is located a short walk from the top ski lodge parking lot on a very desirable street. There are 2 bedrooms and 1.5 baths located on the first floor with a greatroom. The cathedral ceiling greatroom has a fireplace, large dining table, bar and a kitchen. There is a large deck across the back with a view of the deer paths through clearings in the woods. Overlooking the greatroom is a large vaulted ceiling loft sleeping/play area adjacent to a bedroom and bath. The loft has sliding glass doors to a balcony at the front. This was originally designed to be a 5 bedroom house but the loft was opened up, as well as, the 2 bedrooms below were enlarged so there is alot of room in this 1800+-SqFt chalet It is tastefully decorated with some antiques co-mingled to give a homey feel. The side entrance opens into a mudroom for boots, coats and laundry. The opposite entrance opens into the greatroom. The house is on pilings with two catwalk entrances (1 with no steps!). Driveway is at street-grade with room for 3 cars.
Hi, we are Helen & Dick and family (3 generations). We puchased this lot decades ago, had a cedar shell erected and have assisted tradesman complete the interior to our liking. It has been a great place for the extended family to gather since they are spread from Philly to North Carolina and this is a good central location. We have enjoyed watching the resort grow and add amenities (especially liked the additional ski slopes and golfing). This property was recently opened up to vacation rentals and look forward to sharing our home away from home.
Dart Alsmeyer purchased this chalet in 1976
This is a superbly located chalet on the mountain near the top for views and proximity to the ski slopes. The open floorplan with the greatroom and loft above keeps everybody in close proximity and great for gatherings. There are 2 secluded and somewhat quiet bedrooms at the front of the house for those so inclined to sleep away their time here (not recommended though).
The gingerbread exterior makes you feel like you are at a Swiss chalet and the theme is carried throughout.
Another great year at the chalet! It's a perfect set up for our annual family ski trip. The kids have the loft with two twin beds, a pull out couch and the checker game. The living room is open to the kitchen and the wood stove stays burning with the ample supply of tinder from the wooded lot. The back deck is great for watching the deer and grilling. The recliners are perfect for my husband and me at the end of a day of skiing to kick back and watch a movie by the fire. The proximity to the slopes is perfect, situated in a quiet neighborhood away from the bustle of the resort but just a three minute drive to the slopes. Our dog has a safe place to be walked and fun to explore. The owner operates professionally and personably. We remain so appreciative of this warm and relaxing home!
This was our third time staying at the Schuss Platz and we thoroughly enjoyed it as before. Everything was great, and it works out wonderfully for our family.
We had a wonderful time. The house is older but was clean and had plenty of space for our 4 teenagers. There are lots of fun activities to keep everyone busy. One negative is that you can't use some of the amanties at the resort because you didn't rent through them. Other than that this was a great week. Would definitely stay here again!
Went with family to Celebrate Christmas. everyone loved the place and had a really good time!
Had a great last minute getaway over the Labor Day weekend. House is convenient to everything, great deal for the price (had everything we needed). We had enough room for atleast one other family of four or easily two couples. The creek by the house was great, had coffee in the morning with the deer roaming in the back. Great outdoor adventures were everywhere and the whole family was happy; with a teenager, a younger son and dog that's a huge win! Special thanks to the property manager who helped me reserve the property at the very minute, all your help was truly appreciated!!!
House clean and plenty of dishes to accomdate 5 people. Easy to find but follow written directions not GPS. Facilities on the resort were good. To me beds were ok, plenty of extra blankets if needed.
When using dryer turn AC down low. The dryer will make the house real warm.
Wildlife abundent and good picture opportunities.
The house is older and does need work even has some safety issues. The whole house shakes when the washer spins. The grill needs replacing but does work. Wires sticking out of the wall to me is not good. (I am an electrician). Basically an old house that needs some long needed TLC
Overall for the price it is a good deal. Had a good visit but i think next time would spend a little more money for a newer place.
