Love the area, I grew up in southeast Michigan, Worked in Chicago for over 8 years, commuted to this area since 1998. Loved the area so much I moved here permantely in 2000. This is I have the best kept secret, which is southwest Lake Michigan. I Love traveling, antiquing and gardening.
Julie purchased this house in 1998
I always wanted a Lake Michigan home. Small, friendly community with lots of Art, outdoor activities, and nearby conveniences.
Private beach. Situated between 2 most sought after vacation destinations, Saugatuck/Douglas and South Haven. New furnishings of my own personal items, not just a rental property.
The Property owner was very thoughtful and responsive, and took care of all our needs during our week long stay.
The View of Lake Michigan is breathtaking - only a few trees along the Bluff Line, and no other obstructions. Not to mention the private staircase right down to the water. My 5 year old son had a blast searching for rocks and playing along the shoreline.
House is on a dead end dirt road, was quiet, and people from the "neighborhood" seemed very respectful.
House is well appointed, with most anything you would require for your stay.
With four adults and one younger child, we had plenty of room to spread out and enjoy ourselves.
There is a great little store at the end of the street, Maybe called Glenn Market?? Gals who own it have a great selection of foods items, a nice wine section, a full deli, and all those little things you forget when packing your bags for a week!
Just a short drive to fun activities in and around Saugatuck, as well as little parks which have access to Lake Michigan too if you like variety.
I would recommend this place to anyone! Cheers, Erin (Bloomfield Hills, MI)
We rented the property with our 4 boys, ages ranging from 4-9 and my father. The house is well maintained, beautifully decorated with lots of space to sit and hang out. The TV room and kitchen is conveniently located away from all bedrooms. There is a small beach 1 minute away from the house with a creek, lots of rocks and sticks. The boys were so happy with all the natural toys they never touched our plastic, store bought stuff! I cooked most nights and the kitchen was fully equipped. We also used the grill and roasted s'mores outdoors one night by the fire pit. Some nights I enjoyed a glass of wine and watched the sunset from the porch. Other nights we explored the neighboring towns, South Haven and Saugatuck. Glenn store is right down the street and seemed to have most things we needed. We also enjoyed blueberry picking at Earl's. The Mejier in South Haven, about a 10 minute drive, had everything else we needed and more.
The house is located in front of a sandy road with no outlet - so very little traffic. The deck faced out to the road and the lake - serene and peaceful - there is also a deck for closer views across the road. We cooked most meals at the house and I was able to find everything I needed in the kitchen. The large dining table was great as it seated everyone comfortably. Great beach chairs were available in the basement. We rented a kayak and paddleboard one day and thoroughly enjoyed it - both were dropped off at the beach. Majority of our stay the lake was like glass - very calm and tranquil. Overall everyone agreed we had a wonderful trip in a great home!
The home is very nice and accommodating. The location is picture perfect for a week of enjoying the lake , sunsets, bike riding, and just a short drive to neighboring larger towns. The location of the small Glenn Store and the Gift Shop was very convenient. This home is very remote and quite. It's a perfect place for a private vacation.
The house was wonderful! We really enjoyed watching the sunset over the lake each night!!!
Had read the reviews prior to visiting. Placed was clean, we had plenty of beach chairs, deck chairs, et. Description was accurate. We had four adults and four kids aged 4-8. The house was fantastic, the deck, view and front year outstanding. Surprisingly, the kids spent most of their time in safe and nearby "lagoon" as Lake MI was a bit colder. Would definitely rent again in the future and recommend.
