Scituate's Dept. of Public Works informed us they will be renovating the seawall adjacent to our house beginning Dec 2016. The work is expected to continue on through the spring of 2017. As currently scheduled, the final work of positioning stone revetments in front of the wall would take place in June and possibly July. While work is ongoing the small section of the beach in front of my house would be closed to pedestrians. However, the beach will continue to be open a short walk from the house.

Sand Hills Beach is directly across street or a 0.3 mile walk to the life guarded section of the beach. Other nearby beaches include: Peggotty Beach (2.2 miles), Egypt beach (1.4 miles) and Minot beach (3.5 miles). Parking for all of the beaches requires a beach sticker and I have not found a way to provide that to guests however there is parking nearby each of the beaches but you need to be careful in selecting it. An easy way to approach Peggotty beach is to park in the Cole Parkway parking lot in the Harbor and walk 8/10 of a mile to the beach.
Lived much of my life in Scituate on 2nd Cliff, 3rd Cliff and Minot Beach. We live in Milton, MA now.
Fran purchased this house in 2012
It is so serene and beautiful you won't want to leave it!
Beautiful, unique home..huge yard...easy walk to historic harbor and restaurants...the sounds of crashing waves and smell of the ocean along with a sweeping vista of the sea and lighthouses.
Everything was fantastic! Your beach house is beautiful and Scituate proved to be a great place for us to vacation. The beach with its cool refreshing water became our refuge from the heat of the week. So glad that the low tide times worked out in our favor. We had a great time.
What a great house, great location and very nicely furnished throughout the home!! We had everything we needed right in the home... All we had to bring was our clothes and food!! Owner was fabulous!!
This house was perfectly located for our small family reunion. House was perfectly outfitted for us--everything we needed was there.
Will definitely stay there again.
We loved this house and the accommodations that Fran made for us! We used the house for our bridal party to stay in during our wedding weekend where we had 13 people in the house. It was perfect for the whole party and we were able to have our rehearsal dinner and a brunch the following morning for some of our guests. It was perfect! The house was clean, beautiful and worked well to have our vendors come for hair and makeup up, drop off flowers, have the limo pick us up. They even came to pick up trash on Saturday since we had so much from the rehearsal dinner. Everyone loved the place and there were plenty of towels, pillows, and sheets even for the blowup mattresses we brought with us. We would recommend this beautiful place to anyone and we can't wait to see how beautiful the pictures turn out of our bridal party with the house as the background! Thank you for making our wedding weekend perfect!
Our stay at the Murphy Beach House was perfect. Rooms are spacious and the house is very clean. The off street parking and yard were perfect for the small children in our family. And yet, the ocean was right across the street. Thank you Fran for sharing your home.
We booked the Murphy's Beach House as we had a wedding to attend at the nearby Red Lion Inn. This was a better option than a hotel for our two families (four adults, four kids). Fran was so accommodating (we went to check the house out before staying), and the house was clean and well-stocked. Detailed information about area was also provided, including restaurant and activity suggestions. The kids loved playing basketball in the driveway and running on the beach across the street. It was a bonus going to sleep each night listening to the waves!
This was our second time renting this home and we absolutely love it. Big home with a ton of room great for 7-8 people. Location is excellent close to beaches, marina and downtown Scituate. We will go back. Thanks Fran it is great working with you.
Scituate, MA, is an appealing, attractive South Shore seaside community that looks every bit as nice as many of the quaint Cape Cod communities farther down the coastline in Massachusetts.
Scituate doesn't bill itself as a resort or vacation community, so there are few lodging choices. Scituate is primarily a highly desirable suburb of Boston. The town center is lined with independently-owned specialty shops with the harbor peaking behind the commercial district. Recreational opportunities abound here including swimming, boating and fishing. Scituate Lighthouse provides a rocky, scenic setting making it one of Massachusetts' more appealing lighthouses. The harbor is pure New England with a relaxing, picturesque view that ranks up there as one of the best scenic views in the region.
