About Moya McIntyre
My name is Moya McIntyre. I went to UT here in Austin and have lived here for over 20 years. I have also traveled all over the world, traveling is quite a hobby for me. I have been to pretty much every continent and seen all of the most beautiful cities in the world. And yet, Austin is still my favorite! Austin has just the right mix of small town feel with urban sensibility. It's known as the oasis of Texas because it's full of creative folks, artists, amazing live music, festivals, and cultural events.
Moya McIntyre purchased this House in 2008
Why Moya McIntyre chose Zilker
After living in Austin for 20 years and living in literally every Central Austin neighborhood inside and around the city, 78704 is by far the best area of Austin. I love it because it's calm and serene, full of creative and nice people, and yet just minutes to the city center. So you can get a break from the hustle and bustle, but at the same time be super close when you want to go get great food, check out live music, etc. For us also we love the pool and hot tub. A pool is a must in the summer time in Austin and at night you can relax in the hot tub.
What makes this House unique
This house also has a sweet basement apartment, which is almost unheard of in Texas. The basement is a great refuge from the rest of the house and gives folks a chance to have some privacy and peace and quiet. There's also a big screen TV, so the boys can head down there for football or the kids can head down for kid movie night while the adults stay upstairs. We also have a beautiful patio overlooking the pool.

Perfect For Family Reunion
We loved this house as our summer family meetup! Thank goodness for the amazing shaded pool and spa—perfect respite from the blazing Texas heat and never ending fun for the kids. Everything we needed was close at hand and Moya was quick to answer any questions. We would definitely stay again!
Austin is a great city to visit and this location makes it easy to get around to many areas. Would be ideal for family with kids to put the kids downstairs. There isn't a full bath downstairs where 3 of the bedrooms are and these 3 bedrooms have curtains instead of doors. Lots of stairs to navigate if staying on lowest level. Also Wi fi and cell service is sketchy due to the concrete walls I'm guessing. Pool area is nice and large gathering area on main floor with very nice kitchen and dining area. Owner was very available and helpful answering questions such as hot tub and tv operation. We had a great time.
Solid property in an excellent location
My wife and I rented this solid property for a five-day vacation in Austin with our kids, extended family, and friends. The property is in an excellent location, close to Zilker Park/Barton Springs, and easily accessible to major roads (e.g. Lamar and Ben White Blvd) and highways (Hwy 1/MOPAC and Hwy 290). The property is in a quiet neighborhood, but close to stores, restaurants, etc. a few blocks away. The pool was great for the kids and the property was clean and spacious. We would definitely recommend it.
Property is well appointed for a group. Neighbors are not happy about vacation rentals and have signs posted letting you know.
Great location and pool!
We just finished a great long weekend at this house in Zilker. We went there with two other families (total 6 adults and 5 kids) and stayed for three nights.
We had a great time - the house is huge and we loved the pool and hot tub, and ended up spending most of our time there. The back yard has many big trees casting some shade over the pool and creating a beautiful, relaxing backdrop. We were generally unaware of the world outside while we were by the pool and that was great.
In other positives, the owner was communicative and helpful and the kitchen was better equipped than most VRBOs that we've stayed at. We loved the location - Zilker is a cool neighborhood and very close to the Barton Springs area which is a great place to hang out. Downtown is only a short uber, or - if you're looking for a fun way to ride - the scooters that are ubiquitous in the city. I hope Austin doesn't outlaw them as other cities have - it's a great way to get around.
The only thing that stops this house from getting a five-star rating is the room configuration. Four of the seven rooms are downstairs on the ground floor or the basement (where three of the rooms are located). All of the showers are on the top floor, and they're all ensuite. Having to go into somebody else's room on a different floor to shower can get old.
I know that the description of the property makes the "no party" policy clear, but it's a rule you definitely don't want to break. There are signs everywhere in the house reminding you that you can't be outside after 10pm and there are lawn signs on neighboring houses that suggest that short term rentals are not popular on this street. That will not affect you if you're planning to be quiet in the evenings, but be sure to heed the warnings and look elsewhere if you're planning a party!
All in all a great house for what we needed - we'd recommend it if your needs are the same as ours.
Great house and location
The house was great and perfect for a group of 8 of us. We enjoyed the kitchen and the pool and being so close to many fun things in Austin.
This house is a quick walk to Austin's famous Barton Springs pool in the Zilker neighborhood. We about 5 blocks away from all of the cafes, bars, restaurants and boutiques of Barton Springs and about 10 blocks away great shopping, eating, and drinking of South Lamar. It is in the best neighborhood in all of Austin. Jump in your car and you'll be to downtown in about 5 minutes and take the city bus (bus stop just two blocks from our house) and you'll be downtown in about 10 minutes. Also, the house is just 3 blocks away from a city park with a basketball court, tennis courts, a walking trail and several cool play scapes for the kids. Just a few blocks away is an entrance to Austin's famous greenbelt where you can take nice hikes and jump in the water. The house is located in Austin's 78704 district, which is known as one of Austin's 'hippest' neighborhoods. It is filled with creative houses, nice people, and locally-owned businesses. If you're coming to Austin to get the real Austin experience, this neighborhood is your best bet. It's located in the heart of what makes Austin 'Austin'.
