Andrea & Chris are hard working professionals living in Charlotte NC, USA. We are adventurous types who prefer fun in the sun action packed vacations. We like to do things on our own agenda and don't prefer hustle & bustle. We have been snow skiers, water skiers, boaters, jet skiers, hikers, swimmers and fitness junkies, but scuba diving is our true passion. Diving is relaxed excitement if that make sense.
We definetely prefer nicer things, but have no interest in anything that is pompous or pretentious. Good service is always nice, but we more often prefer catering for ourselves.
We take a lot of pride in our approach to life, the impact of the choices we make each and every day, and are firm believers in karma. We strive to excel with our honesty, and to treat people fairly and with the utmost of respect. We welcome to opportunity to aid you in your vacation planing and a stay at vacation home 2B (the place 2B).
Andrea and Chris Wait purchased this townhome in 2010
We have been vacationing in the Carabbean for many years. The island of Curacao however, is the only one that kept drawing us back for repeat visits. Initially we were staying at the 'hotels' near the city of Willemstad. Without fail, we always found ourselves making daily trips to the Westpunt side of the island. The beaches, mountains, diving, north shore boca's and relaxed pace are all splenders that are unrivaled elsewhere on Curacao. We finally asked ourselves, why are we staying in Willemstad....Westpunt it the place to be! So for our next trip we researched villa's in Westpunt, stumbled upon Marazul and ultimately booked a stay. The moment we walked into the resort, we know we found something very very special. The next day, we learned that 2B might become available for sale. The thought of actually owning an oceanfront villa in the Caribbean consumed the balance of our vacation. Until now, the idea was only a dream. But Marazul was different, we felt at home. The day after we returned to Charlotte from our vacation, we contacted the potential seller, and ultimately made the purchase. We had found our dream come true and hope to share it with you as well. Apartment 2B in Curacao is the place 2B.
Newly expanded master bedroom suite it the resorts only townhome with such as suite. The Pergola on the upper level tiled balcony transformed the space into a perfect shaded spot to relax, dine or just soak in the ocean scenes.
OWNER: Below is a guest response from a follow up letter we received.
GUEST: We had a great time-thanks so much!! We kept your notes with us during the vacation, and did a lot of the things you suggested. We did most of the shore dives that you had listed, and really enjoyed them. We really appreciated everything you did to make our stay great!
OWNER: Below are the questions we ask every guest after thier stay:
1. Were our directions/arrival information easy to follow? Yes, very good-no problems at all.
2.How was management, did the check in/check out go smoothly?
Yes, Tommy and Uli were so nice and accomodating all week. Very easy to use the code to get into the villa.
3.Did you need anything that was not supplied?
No, and thank you for having the basics (TP, kitchen soap, kleenex, etc)
4.How would you rate the apartments accommodations?
5.Would you recommend us to family and friends?
6.Was the apartment clean upon your arrival?
Yes, very clean.
We had a great time.
Stayed here 10 nights. The view from the balcony is just lovely. Wish they had a small fridge up on the deck so we didn't have to make trips downstairs for refills. Perfect spot for a glass of wine in the evening or coffee in the morning. The condo is exactly as advertised. The beaches nearby are some of the best snorkeling we found. The resort manager is very helpful with any questions you may have and some great suggestions too. Several restaurants close by are top ones on the entire island. We will definitely come back to this place. One of the few vacations that I regretted leaving.
I would strongly recommend if you rent a car ( and you need one on this side of the island ) that you get the insurance offered by the car rental company. We had an accident that was not our fault but we are being held responsible. Two of the local people we spoke with about it said that this is one of the ways locals make their monies. No enforced driving laws.
This was our first experience with VRBO and it could not have been easier. The owners provide all the information you need as soon as you book. So when you arrive at the resort, you simply type in the keypad number to open the gate, park near your condo and then type in the condo keypad number to enter. It was that simple! There were clear instructions on operating the washing machine, air conditioner, etc. The condo is wonderfully maintained and beautiful, the balcony off the upstairs master is a vacation unto itself!
The resort manager is very friendly, he is out and about every morning if you ever need anything. The resort is very well maintained. The other vacationers/owners were very friendly - the atmosphere is great for families. There were no loud parties at the pool or anything like that.
We would definitely stay at this condo again!
The view from the upper terrace is really as beautiful as shown in the picture, and the wooden table/chairs are very nice (I do hate plastic). We had breakfast there every morning. The pool area is situated in a nice setting with the palm trees and the many colourful bouganvilleas. We liked the many beaches in the area very much, but you need a rental car to get around otherwise you might get bored. Willemstadt is very nice to visit, and you need to get to the supermarket near by.
We had many great snorkeling/diving experiences. The best was at the Coral Reef Estate with its supernice diving school and an excellent restaurant (no sandy beach though but nice sunbeds on sand at the rim - and great cocktails).
When we arrived at the house the electricity was off, and we had to put the fuse in, but the fridge needed at least 8 hours in the heat/humidity to get cold - so we had to throw away some of our meat - that was bad timing.
The bed as well as the sofa sleeper were very comfortable, but the air conditioning in the bedroom is situated right above the bed and the cool draught (at a setting of 25 degrees celsius) was a bit of a problem (for us - it might not be so for everyone).
We only had one towel for the beach as well as one big and one small towel for the whole week and when we tried the office for a change it was closed (I have to admitt we are no early risers and didn´t try before noon). But we used the washing machine in the house (only usable with cold water), so it was o.k..
When arriving we instantly felt at home, the place is well maintained and at a great location by the pool, the views are unbelievable and we can see 2 beaches from the view! Snorkeling right off the stairs was beautiful and so much fun, this was our honeymoon and we felt very welcomed by Rene the manager here and he was very nice and talked with us everyday, we learned a lot about the island and the best times to come to curacao, we got to swim with turtles and get fresh fish from the beach on playa grandi, the best was super comfy and we got a great nights rest every night, we loved how much snorkel supplies there were, this will not be our last time here, we will be coming back, possibly even buy a place here ourselves! Thank you for sharing your space, love the Maloneys
We were after a quiet vacation with lots of snorkeling and exploring. This Marazul Dive apartment worked well for us. I did have a severe asthma/allergy attack when we ran the fan and air conditioning in the upstairs room (I'm highly allergic to dust), but after we wiped down the fan and air conditioner filter, everything was much more comfortable. The resort is a low key kind of beautiful and the apartment is cozy.
The manager of the property was very nice and recommended some good food places nearby. The local Dive Shop was a real gem. Snorkeling right at Marazul is great as well as the nearby beaches. We saw sea turtles, seahorses, and so much more.
Chris was really responsive whenever we tried to reach out and really put a lot of thought in their notes for their guests. Really appreciated all the information!
My husband and I spent a week in this condo. I loved staying at Marazul Dive Resort. It was quiet, clean, safe. The grounds are attractive. I loved the pool, which was attractive and very well maintained. The caretaker was easy to find and helpful. People were friendly. The view is lovely and we got to see lots of attractive birds and iguanas on the property. It's easy to get to and there's lots of beaches, snorkeling and diving very close by.
The condo itself is perfect for a couple. It has a pull out sofa (which is comfortable to sit on) but I think it would be too crowded for 2 couples. 1 or 2 children would probably be fine. It was clean and well equipped. I personally loved the location by the pool. We used the washing machine for 1 load and that was useful to have.
We only used the AC in the bedroom at night for sleeping. We did most of our cooking at the condo, but with the breezy conditions, it didn't get too hot with all the louvres and screen doors providing good air circulation. I heard that there's little wind in August and September, so perhaps the AC on the ground floor would be needed then.
We shopped at Centrum twice, which does have bags (even though we brought our own, so don't panic if you forgot shopping bags). We also bought fresh tuna one afternoon at 2 beaches north of MDR, which fed us for 3 meals, as we had to buy a minimum amount.
For non snorkeling activities, we visited the 2 national parks, which are super close and were nice to see. Also very close was Tula Museum. We hiked up Christoffel Mountain. We visited Hato caves, the flamingos and before coming to MDR we spent 2 nights in Willemsted, also worth a visit. Willemsted could easily be done as a day trip from the condo as it's less than a 40 minute drive away.
Communication with the owners was easy and they are helpful. I would highly recommend this condo for those looking for a quiet place in an excellent location, and who are self sufficient (this is a condo after all, not a hotel).
Caribbean seafront (ocean front), divers paradise. Located in Marazul Dive Resort, Westpunt (Banda Bou), the quiet mountainous side of the island. 2 minutes to Alice in Wonderland and Ocean Encounters West dive shop- just voted top 100 dive shops in the world. Very short walk to Playa Forti beach, and close to many top beaches. 5 minutes to Shete Boca National Park and Mt. Christoffel National Park. Beautiful House reef on site. Several restaurants very close to the resort
