Guestbook comments from the owner

An ideal apartment close to Bastille and the Marais

This is an ideal apartment at a walking distance from Bastille and the Marais.

The flat is very well equipped and conveniently laid out. The kitchen allows

daily cooking; market on Bd Richard-Lenoir on Thursdays and Sundays; a delicious

boulangerie across Bd Beaumarchais; there are two bathrooms and two toilets,

which was very convenient as we staid as a family of four in the flat. Nice

terrace with an incredible view on Paris and the Eiffel Tower.

Finally, a very nice and helpful landlady.

Highly recommended,

Great apartment at a great location

  • 5 of 5

My wife and I and our adult granddaughter thoroughly enjoyed everything about this lovely apartment. Although in a relatively modern building, Rachelle has furnished the apartment in a traditional Parisian style, not only with all of the obvious necessities but with many decorative touches that truly make it a home. On the practical side, everything in the apartment was perfect: comfortable beds, clean and functioning appliances, well-equipped kitchen (when we needed a particular item, Rachelle promptly provided it), large dining room table that easily accommodated six when we invited our Parisian friends for dinner, and a view of the Eiffel Tower from the living room and the terrace. Beyond the practical, the location cannot be beat. The apartment is on a quiet street, but only steps from Boulevard Beaumarchais, which provides a variety of restaurants, cafes, shopping, and metro stations and bus stops. A short walk to the Bastille and its wonderful outdoor market, to Place des Vosges and the rest of le Marais, and to many of the museums on the Right Bank. And even the tiny streets nearby provide hidden gems: Le Poulailler was a particularly delightful small restaurant about one block away. Although there is an an adequate Franprix market half a block away, we preferred the larger Carrefour "Market" two blocks north. And Rachelle herself is a warm and friendly host who lives in the same building so is always close at hand. We are experienced travelers who have stayed in several different apartments in Paris; this is one of the best. We look forward to returning.

Good location, view of Eiffel Tower

  • 4 of 5

We very much enjoyed our stay -- the location could not be beat, with most of the sites in walking distance and plenty to do nearby. We were charmed to have our morning coffee on the balcony with a view of the Eiffel tower. Hostess was very gracious and there was sleeping space for our three teenagers and their parents.

Lovely in every way!

  • 5 of 5

I recently spent a week at Rachelle's lovely apartment in the Marais with my husband and two young daughters, ages 5 and 7, and we couldn't have been happier. The apartment was charming, filled with light and well-supplied with everything to make our stay comfortable and homey; we especially loved having coffee and baguette (from the boulangerie at the end of the block) on the balcony while we enjoyed the views of the Eiffel Tower in the distance and the beautiful, quintessentially Parisian architecture of the buildings in the neighborhood. The location is very convenient to the metro, grocery stores, restaurants, etc., as well. My daughters loved it so much that they cried when it was time to leave! We hope to come back again.

Home Away from Home in Paris

  • 5 of 5

We spent four weeks in this spacious and very comfortable apartment in the 11th arrondissement on the edge of the Marais. Located on an interesting street, it is close to bars, restaurants, supermarkets and a couple of excellent boulangeries and is in easy walking distance of the Bastille, Place des Vosges, Musée Picasso and other iconic locations. The St Sebastian-Froissart and Richard Lenoir Metro stations are also very close, giving ready access to locations further afield.

The apartment has a narrow balcony with a table and two chairs, a very pleasant place to sit and watch the activity on the Boulevard Beaumarchais or look at the Tour Eiffel in the distance across the very recognisable roof of the Pompidou Centre. At night we watched the tower going through its various lighting routines. Sometimes it sparkles!

Rachelle, our wonderful host, lives in the same building and made it very clear that we could call her any time should we require assistance. Generous too, we appreciated the typically French selection of wine, bread and cheese that welcomed us.

Thank you, Rachelle, for caring so much about our welfare and also for sharing your story. You really are a miracle!

Wonderful discovery in the Marais

  • 5 of 5

We are just back from New Year's in Paris, a completely wonderful trip anchored by our discovery of this marvelous residence in the Marais. Never having stayed in this part of Paris, we were somewhat at a loss to decide on an address to choose; but reviews matter, and we read them with care. Descriptions of Rachel's apartment consistently reflected the pleasure of her guests, their comfort with the pleasing interior spaces and view (including the Eiffel Tower!), and her responsiveness to their needs whether as newcomers or as seasoned visitors to Paris. We were so deeply pleased by our own experience.

To begin with, Rachel connected us with a pick-up service to and from the airport. M. Roland and his clean, ample taxi held four grown-ups and big suitcases laden with Christmas presents. He was a most genteel introduction to our holiday, and at it's conclusion discovered a bag left behind in his car, parked, and came after us searching the lines at Charles de Gaul until he found us.

Rachel met us at her residence gate and showed us in. Security is good there, but also very manageable. There are grocery stores near-by, a convenient metro, and Marais shopping! Rachel herself is a treasure -- warm and empathetic, concerned that you will have a fine visit and, to that end, will offer as much direction as you need. She lives in the building and is attentive, but never intrusive. A platter of pastries and croissants awaited us on the dining room table beside a bottle of champagne that we opened New Year's Eve.

The apartment's layout is attractive and very livable with kitchen, dining room and living room in pleasant flow. Everything looks nice. Everything works. Accoutrements for cooking and serving are generous for stay-at-home meals. There is a balcony accessed from the dining room and set across the living room's large picture window facing the Eiffel Tower. And yes, we sat out a few times in the January air to watch the Tower shimmer. The view is charming and fully half the Tower is visible. Private spaces are also well laid out with two full bathrooms (one in master bedroom) and a separate toilet and sink for guests. Very satisfactory. And the beds-- extremely comfortable and welcome at day's end!

Rachel's apartment was a wonderful find. We felt so at home. Our Paris visit was just 10 days, and we are already talking about returning, staying longer. Merci, Rachel! Fantastique!
