About Alan & Jayne Bryant
Having started working at her father’s Architectural firm in Mexico at the age of 17 and educated in interior design, my wife, Jayne designed our home. With her design and with enormous assistance of my father, I built the home in a two year period ending in July, 2008. My day job is equipment startup engineer.
Alan & Jayne Bryant purchased this House in 2008
Why Alan & Jayne Bryant chose Eastport
After living in several big cities including Chicago and Dallas, my wife and I move back to my home state of Maine. After a few years in Maine, we dreamed of building a oceanfront home and found a pristine location in Eastport in which we built this home.
What makes this House unique
Leaving directly from the properyy, I have easy access to the ocean and can leave for a paddle on the kayak. Amazing boating, the nearest public boat landing is less than 1/2 mile from my home. The home is very private but is located just minutes from downtown Eastport.
Minimum age of primary renter:25
100% refund if cancelled at least 60 days before arrival date.
We had a wonderful week stay in Eastport. The house was perfectly located for us and gave us beautiful views. We enjoyed whale watching, fresh lobster, lobster rolls, tea and ginger cookies on Campobello Island, Monica’s chocolates, and our favorite clam chowder.
Great location Downeast
The property is in a great location to see all there is in Northeast Maine and Southern New Brunswick CAN. The yard facing the ocean is ocean is superb for outdoor games and beach walking. The owners are very responsive and easy to communicate with. We enjoyed our family vacation at this lovely property.
Beautiful home! Made our stay in Maine very enjoyable and relaxing. Highly recommend.
Serenity by the Sea
This cottage is the perfect place to explore the Bold Coast of Maine and we did! If you love hiking, wildlife, natural beauty and relaxing in tasteful, comfy surroundings, this home will be the perfect retreat for you. The owners are responsive and the people in town are welcoming and friendly. We enjoyed trips to Campobello Island...the free educational tea with homemade gingersnap cookies, hiking the trails and driving the carriage road, whale watching on the Lorna Doone where we had multiple sightings of Finback and Minke whales, exploring the trails at West Quoddy light house (the coastline trail is our favorite of all in the area!), hiking at Bog Brook Cove Preserve at Moosehead, climbing to the ridge at Hamilton cove. Not to mention...yummy lobster rolls at Franks in Lubec & Quoddy Bay Lobster Co. and fish & chips in St. Andrews, CA at the Red Herring. Driving across the sea floor to Ministers Island was an exciting adventure and touring the magnificent cottage and trails a highlight of our trip! Kingsbrae Garden in St. Andrews is stunning with gorgeous flowers and unusual trees.
Reversing Falls Park is another lovely place to picnic and hike. We just scratched the surface! It was a joy to wake up in the morning to the soft sunrise spreading across the sky and relax in the spacious cottage at night. Thank you for sharing your beautiful home with us!!!
Beautiful and peaceful.
This Oceon front cottage is perfect. This is the 2ND yr we've stayed here and will next yr as well. It's convenient to Eastport and other scenic sites. It has everything needed to make your stay relaxing and enjoyable. Highly recommend.
Small items that make it "not worth the money"
The house is beautiful and so is the view, but there were items that the owners overlooked that made our stay uncomfortable. The water is not drinkable. The owners responded that the water from the refrigerator is drinkable but they neglected to tell us that they had a reverse osmosis system on the refrigerator water until after we left. When they told us the water from the refrigerator was drinkable, we assumed it was because they had the usual filter on the refrigerator, which is basically useless. There was no heat in the house and it was very chilly at night and in the mornings. I set the thermostats to heat and turned them up but nothing happened. There is a pellet burning stove there but that did not work either. The toilets did not flush and fill properly and I had to remove the tank covers on all three toilets to make them work. The red chairs on the deck bled onto our clothes causing stains. When I notified the owners about these problems after our stay, their response was that we should have called sooner and we should have notified them after doing our initial walk through. Who does a walk through and checks to see if the heat works and the toilets all work properly? Since we were there for a funeral of one of our relatives and were in the middle of family issues, that wasn't possible. Also, when you sit on the deck to enjoy the beautiful view, all you hear are the noisy cars traveling across the causeway nearby. It's not really serene.
