About Nicole Bastian, Reservations Manager
My work is Real Estate Investing and property Management. My wife and I love to travel and on our first visit to Costa Rica we feel in love with Manuel Antonio and Quepos. Being always curious about Real Estate I had a great agent show us some properties and the rest was history as we think we found the perfect house. Hopefully if you rent you will love the place as much as we do. If you'd like to make a reservation, you'll hear from our reservations manager, Nicole Bastian. She's from Minnesota, originally, but has lived in Manuel Antonio for over 10 years. You'll be in good hands with her!
Nicole Bastian, Reservations Manager purchased this House in 2010
Why Nicole Bastian, Reservations Manager chose El Cerro
We really loved Manuel Antonio because of its location and all its amenities. You also have the town of Quepos nearby with all of its amenities and restaurants, supermarkets, clothing stores, hardware stores, and its airport. The ocean is only minutes from the house and you have exceptional views and breezes up and down the hillside.
What makes this House unique
You have, as I stated above, the beautiful views but it is centrally located to town the beach and restaurants with public transportation a 5 min walk down the road. Our favorite thing is a short hike to a beautiful waterfall adjacent to the gated community. You will also have a concierge who can arrange a private chef, daily maid service, or any local activity(Zip Lining, horseback riding , rafting, deep sea fishing, biking, hiking etc. or answer any questions on where to go or where to eat). A week is usually not enough time!

Fantastic Find with Amazing Views & Wildlife
Not sure where to begin....beautiful view, spacious accommodations, quiet neighborhood, infinity pool, excellent concierge, etc. This house far exceeded our expectations. Two couples stayed in the upstairs bedrooms while the children (ages 10, 19, & 22) stayed in the downstairs bedroom and apartment. There are several levels to this house so it may not be suited for very small children. Our children/young adults loved having their own downstairs space and were never bothered by the noise if the adults were up early preparing breakfast. Unless you experience it yourself, there is no way to describe the beautiful views offered by the location of this house. The house is surrounded by lush tropical foliage while the westward view offers beautiful sunsets over the Pacific ocean and to the North you have beautiful mountains. We spent many evenings enjoying the pool and watching the sunset. We also enjoyed the sounds and sights of Scarlet Macaws, Toucans, along with other colorful birds. There are also several resident iguanas that were fun to watch, and one day we had the thrill of watching a monkey come onto our patio. In addition to the beautiful views and active wildlife, the house is conveniently located with easy access to both Manual Antonio and Quepos. Although the traffic was heavy during our stay (dry season=high season), it was easy to access many local favorite restaurants and go to the grocery store.
Vanessa, our concierge, did an excellent job for us. She arranged professional transportation for our party of 7 from the San Jose Airport to the house, helped us with our rental car in Quepos, had our house stocked with groceries upon arrival, arranged an in-house chef for one evening, made reservations for excursions and helped us when in need (retrieved a personal item we left it in a transport van, helped us with our safe, checked on our gas grill when we had a concern, and offered us sound advice when we asked). Although we are from Texas and used to hot weather, we were not accustomed to enduring temps of 85-90 degrees without AC in the main living area. We tried to be gone each day until sunset since the living area and pool can be very hot if there is no breeze or cloud cover. All the bedrooms have AC so everyone slept quite comfortably each evening. Overall, this was an excellent trip and we loved our stay in Case de Cascades and would stay there again. Pura Vida!!
My family and I stayed at this rental in February 2019. The house was large and unique. The waterfall added a special touch. It was located off a private drive on the road to Manuel Antonio, which made it quiet and away from the busy road - but accessible. The infinity pool was the best feature and overlooked the tree canopy and ocean in the distance. There are lots of local birds hanging around the house and there were not many bugs. It was kept clean and Vanessa ensured we all enjoyed our stay!
Property is in an amazing location with amazing views!
This was an amazing property with lots of space for the 8 of us. Very close to all amenities. Vanessa, the concierge was awesome and helped us with all reservations. A couple evenings we had Paige, a personal chef, come in and cook for us. The food was so good! I would highly recommend her and her pineapple chicken!
Couple drawbacks to this place is the living room is not air conditioned and you can't even sit in it as it is so stifling. The owner needs to install curtains or blinds, (or air) to block the sun during the day. The kitchen was stocked "okay" as the chef needed to make do with a couple of dishes, as they was only one bowl and one casserole dish. It is in need of a reno as some of the doors we about to fall off. I am a short person and I couldn't even reach into them! If you don't plan on cooking, then that is fine. The bathrooms are in need of some improvements, but still quite usable. We ended up using the apartment as well, which stayed very cool. The only drawback is you have to go out and around to enter. Stairs from the upper balcony would help greatly.
Overall, we enjoyed the property and the pool Even though they state there are 2 pools, the one is not an infinity pool ( or they didn't run it as such) and the smaller one is unusable as the lizards hang out at it and it gets dirty from them. It would have been nice to have used the waterfall pool.
Costa Rica is a beautiful county and this location was perfect to everything. If you want to take surf lessons, look for Tony on Espadilla beach. He was the best and does other tours as well.
Be prepared that wherever you go, you will be directed to park somewhere and they usually charge a fee of 2-3 dollars. Just pay it and your vehicle will be safe. It is not worth the hassle of haggling with them. We did the zipling/atve tour and loved it. Vanessa arranged all tours for us, and her recommendations were spot on!
Beautiful house with incredible views and access to best of Quepos and Manuel Antonio!
Huge house that can comfortably accommodate large families. Great location and privacy. Beautiful sunsets on pool deck and lots of local wildlife.
We had a great time at this house. The 4 bedrooms are all air conditioned and the two downstairs are the biggest and nicest (but they are not the master!). Strange but true! The views are amazing as are the sunsets over the Pacific Ocean. If you want to see monkeys, toucans and macaws, just spend time by the pool in the mornings and you will see them all in the trees in front of the house (looking towards the ocean). The concierge was awesome and the housekeeping staff is top notch. WOuld definitely stay here again when we come back to Costa Rica!
Serene jungle retreat, dramatic views, great for birding
Vanessa (our concierge) made our first trip to Costa Rica easy! She communicated via text and WhatsApp, met us at the house for our check-in, and kept in touch with us frequently throughout the week to make arrangements for tours and give advice. We flew in to San Jose and drove to Quepos, no problems. We ziplined, surfed, and did a spa day at Si Como No. We did self-guided walks at Manuel Antonio Park and the National park at Uvita. Just sitting on the decks we saw all manner of birds and reptiles. On two occasions monkeys came through our property while we were relaxing. We saw sloths on several occasions in Manuel Antonio, both in the park and in town. The kitchen is well stocked. We cooked most nights for ourselves. We went to Sanchos in Manuel Antonio x2 because the fish tacos were amazing. Overall I would stay here again. The architectural details of this house are phenomenal. The views whether sitting outside or inside are incredible. The deck looks out over the Pacific to the West and over the mountains to the North. Because of the elevation and frequent changes in weather, the sky is ever-changing and so interesting to observe. This house takes full advantage of the view. As commented by others, the kitchen can be hot in the full sun later in the day, but the sun sets around 6PM so no problem for us. We spent the later part of the afternoon in and around the pool. Costa Rica is a wonderful country with beautiful people and fantastic scenery. I can't wait to return! Pura vida!
