Janet and I bought this property as a place to enjoy with family and friends and to share as a rental to help pay for it. We live in the area, just 4.5 miles away so we are close at hand should you have any special needs or emergencies. While this is the first time we have ever rented out a house, we have been vacation home renters for many years and vow to transfer our very best experiences to you and eliminate the stuff that upset us to ensure that you will want to come back year after year.
Bob Marino & Janet Gramza purchased this house in 2012
Lake Ontario is a gorgeous body of water but unfortunately accessible to only those fortunate enough to live on it. This is the place of our dreams because we can enjoy the lake without anyone telling us just how.
BEACH FRONT: Right on the beach, sometimes sandy, sometimes cobblestones but there is always a sandy spot nearby to set up your chairs. The Lake bottom is always sandy and gently sloping, a perfect area for kids. There are sandbars and bigger kids can walk well out before the water is overhead.
BEDROOMS: There is a queen in the master, a double in the second bedroom and a bunk room with 4 bunks and 2 doubles with plenty of room to spare.
All the bedrooms have been remodeled with proper walls and doors, this may sound normal but you should have seen it before! They the walls did not extend to the ceiling and there were curtains over the doorways - This has been a huge improvement! There is also a single bedroom away from everything in the back, plus a pull out couch bed in the living room. All the bedrooms have water views!
LIVING AREAS: Open floor plan, spacious kitchen stocked with everything you need except food. We try to keep a decent supply of condiments & spices. There is a Tops supermarket about 5 miles away. Sofas, chairs and a very large dining room table. Propane wood stove, and a beautiful enclosed sun porch, airtight, for windy or cool days so you can still enjoy incredible views of the lake and can be fully opened on warm days to let in the breeze. Broadband wireless Internet, Stereo, CD, MP3 player, flat screen smart TV with Netflix, VCR/DVD player and a supply of movies.
OUTSIDE: Lots of places to hang out when you are not on the beach! 2-tiered deck with the lower deck seemingly over the water! 12 Adirondack chairs for lounging with family & friends. Picnic table that seats 8 -10. Big brick patio and grill area with a propane gas grill plus a unique wood burning griddle that is perfect for searing steaks!
This property is all it advertises and more.
It is lakefront on the end of a row cottages. From the cottage you only get a peekaboo view of the neighboring cottages. You have to go down to the lake to get a full view of the neighboring cottage. The neighbors were quite friendly. When we arrived the owner Bob had a big wagon to pull of our luggage. He also had made arrangements to drive my elderly father up to the cottage. Otherwise it was about a flight of stairs to go up. A similar amount of stairs leading down to the lake. But it is broken up with a beautiful sundeck. The pictures show the two levels of decks.
The pictures are very accurate. My family and I shared the bigger room with the bunkbeds. Later in the week we moved to the lakefront room. My elderly father started out in the downstairs room because of it's proximity to the bathroom, later he moved up stairs to enjoy a bigger bed and the sound of the waves lapping against the shore.
There is one full bathroom and another toilet by the washer dryer. The only catch is remembering to leave the door unlocked because if somebody is in the main bathroom you have to go outside and in through another door to get to the second bathroom. When we had a full group we had to coorid shower usage.
As the pictures show there's a large living space that we hardly used. We found ourselves wanting to be out on the deck or on the beach, Enjoying the lake and the sunset.
Beautiful view of the lake! Perfect location. Bob and Janet were very nice and great to deal with. The house is well keep and has everything needed for cooking, sleeping, and enjoying the waterfront! The garden had herbs to cook with. We also loved cooking steaks on that heavy outdoor wood grill. Plenty of room and space for everyone to hang out together and enough privacy to have your own space. Bob even helped us bring up all our stuff when we arrived. Very appreciated. The waves were great for kayak surfing a couple days. Weather was great, sunny and in the 70's. Highly recommend staying here, just please don't reserve my week! Looking forward to getting back this fall.
We really enjoyed our stay. The house was well decorated and fit the information provided on the website. Bob and Janet were wonderful to work with and helped provide an understanding of the Pulaski area as well as identifying features of Oswego county that we had a strong interest in. The views and beach area were beautiful. We loved being out on the point and the lack of general traffic in area around the cottage. Perhaps the best feature was being able to enjoy your morning breakfast on the decks overlooking the lake. We enjoyed our stay enough that we have already rebooked for 2014 and hope to continue coming back. We only have good things to say and appreciate the hospitality shown to us. Thank You.
Pine Grove is a sand dune peninsula situated on Lake Ontario and bordered by the Salmon River and Selkirk Shores State Park.
Entering Pine Grove from Rt 3, you drive down the Pine Grove access road through quiet forest with glimpses of the Salmon River. You will pass the State boat launch which is just 1/2 mile from our house but small craft can be launched from the beach or the Salmon River estuary behind the house.
Lake trolling for salmon, steelhead and lake trout is very popular and there are charter boats available nearby. In addition, from late August though late fall, the Salmon River and the many area rivers and creeks are full salmon as they make their spawing run. It is fairly easy to hook these huge fish right from shore (catching is another question!) but it's also an awsome spectacle just to watch them jumping out in the estuary from a canoe. In late fall though spring, steehhead are in these same rivers and creeks and your can enjoy fishing with much less company for what many say, pound for pound, is the best sport fish to try to catch.
Since we border Selkirk Shores park, you can easily take advantage of the hiking and biking trails trails, playground, camp store and best of all if you are on foot or bike, you can use the park for free.
