Perfect, memorable and unique

We drove from Virginia with my 84 year old mother so we could have an old fashioned Thanksgiving and so she could she her 86 year old brother who lives in Batavia. The Bungalow is exquisite. It could not have been more perfect for our event. The photos are accurate but don't capture all the charm packed into the Bungalow. Julie and Bob were attentive and friendly and made us feel at home. There is plenty of room, some spaces cozy and others large and comfortable even for many quests. The gourmet kitchen and dining room were excellent for our Thanksgiving shindig. As it turns out, my mother grew up just a few miles away so we spent most of the week on memory lane. We already asked Julie about returning next year.

The Perfect Bungalow

  • 5 of 5

From the first moment I stepped into the Bungalow I was just awestruck. Literally, a "wow" must have left my mouth as I entered each room. This place has so much character and history!

This hidden gem is perfect for a family traveling together, which is what we were doing on our visit. There was plenty of room for all of us to spread out, however, there was also great common areas for us to spend time together. I could also see this place being great for a scrap-booking retreat, there is plenty of table/workspace available.

Julie and Robert were great hosts. We arrived late in the evening our first night and Julie made herself available to give us a tour/orientation of the property. The next morning I was amazed at how large the property actually was (hard to tell initially because of our late arrival). The grounds are very well maintained, plenty of trails, and a feeling of serenity all around the area but also great space to have a small and fun get together.

There are plenty of activities to have on property (volleyball, horseshoes, croquet, barbecue, etc.) as well as places nearby to explore. On property, I myself enjoyed the relaxing in the hammocks and walking by the pond...oh and climbing up to the the tree house! One morning I even enjoyed a cup of coffee on the porch while watching a dear hang out and enjoy the grounds too.

The location of BF Bungalow was perfect. My family visited Letchworth, did a tour of some of the vineyards at Finger Lakes, went to Niagara Falls. Julie and Bob offered tips on things to do and the best places to pick up a few necessities.

I wish our stay was longer, as I would have also like to explore the many acres nearby. When I'm in the area next, I will most definitely be checking in to see if this home away from home is available.

Thoroughly enjoyed our stay!

  • 5 of 5

We had truly lovely time at BF Bungalow. The house is even more impressive in person than what the pictures show. Our hosts were super hospitable and made us feel very welcome. The grounds are picturesque and lovingly maintained. My only regret is that I didn't get out and hike the trails more. There's lots of laid back fun to be had right there on the grounds - volleyball, horseshoes, swimming in the pond, hiking or just relaxing with a book under the trees. My husband spent several peaceful hours reading by the goldfish pond and our teens/young adult kids enjoyed chilling on the hammock under the trees. We also made trips to Letchworth Park, Niagara Falls and even saw a rodeo in nearby Attica. The area is very rural and a welcome change of landscape from my own suburban/urban setting. It's beautiful country of mountain hills and farmland as far as the eye can see. Highly recommended.

There is nothing to say, except WOW! If you like the country and nature, this is the place to be. The hosts were accommodating and non-intrusive. There is plenty to see and do within 30 minutes to 1 hour. The bungalow is amazing, restful and beautiful.

Unique house with miles of nature trails and a pond

  • 5 of 5

I can hardly call this house a bungalow; its larger than my own house. The history of this house, the architecture and the furnishings all work together to make this a truly unique vacation house. It is a multi-level house with 5-7 steps between each level. The kitchen is on the first level, with parking right by the door for easy unloading of groceries. The owners use the kitchen for family gatherings, so it really does have everything you need to cook anything. We had to move a few things aside to make room for our groceries. The old wood-burning stove, large kitchen table and farm sink add ambiance. Cooking is done on a modern electric stove. There is no dishwasher, but we weren't expecting one. The next level is up 4-5 steps and has two doors to the front of the house, a bedroom with a sitting area, and a full bath. The bed is queen size and very comfortable, the sitting area has a sofa and chairs around a fireplace. The room has two walls with windows that are diamond-pane casement windows, and there is a floor to ceiling bookshelf. This was our favorite room. Up another 7 steps is the main floor, with a large bedroom, bathroom and a huge living room/dining room. The furniture in these rooms are a combination of antiques that lend a very homey look. Check out the decorations in this room to find all sorts of collectibles. This room has French doors on two sides, and a fireplace that you could walk into. The bathroom on this level opens into the hall and bedroom, it has a step in tub/shower. The sink has not been upgraded - but why would you want it to be? The toilet has its own little room for privacy. The bedroom has several chests, a dressing table and a huge bow window. The bed is a Queen and is super comfy. It only has a bed table on one side, but I borrowed a table and lamp from the big room and I was good to go for reading. Everything was clean, and their were lots of towels. The owners live on the property and the house is next door. They made sure we felt welcome and that we had everything we needed, but they were very gracious about giving us privacy and quiet. Of course we did chat with them, and they are very charming people. We are birdwatchers and we walked through the fields and woods every day where we saw lots of birds and animals. We traveled in all 4 directions to visit state parks, lake Ontario and many small towns. The grocery store was 10 minutes away, and Wegmans was 30 minutes away. We hated to leave.

A true 'home away from home' experience with very friendly hosts!

  • 5 of 5

We had a great time away from home and enjoyed the friendly welcome we got on arrival at the house. The house is well located close to the Letchworth Park and Darien Lake Theme Park which our family enjoyed very much. The home is very roomy, clean and comfortable with everything provided. We strolled the private grounds located across the road from the 'bungalow' with pond, trails and fields full of wild flowers.
