this was the best family holiday i think i ever had. there were 21 of us and we were well fed, relaxed but with plenty of things to do to keep everyone occupied or not, depending on who wanted to do what. the service was so helpful. they desired to please us at all times. i can't rate the place and experience higher for a fabulous time.
We just returned from a one week corporate retreat in Bellamar. Our group of 16 never felt crowded or had a lack of privacy. The Villa was beautiful, much better than the photos indicate and it was spotless! The experience was simply outstanding.
The staff provided excellent service (actually above and beyond). Chef Antonio and his team could not have been better. We also hired a bartender for the week…great decision. The villa is spacious but comfortable and cozy at the same time. The pool and pool bar with views of the bay naturally became the meeting point every afternoon. We all hang around the pool, the terrace and the Jacuzzi.
What a good time! It’s definitely a superb experience and a great Villa. Highly recommend.
We held our Americas team meeting here - 26 individuals. It was PERFECT for meetings (large open spaces, lots of seating and tables) and great for hanging out ... couches, TVs, lots of out door space, etc.
Owners are so great to work with ... we had multiple issues re: arrivals and departures and they were very accommodating and liaised with the transfer service. We also had several last minute requests which were totally taken care of.
The chefs that we contracted out - on recommendation from the owner - were absolutely AMAZING and soooo cheap. We ate like kings and queens for a tiny fraction of what it would have cost to go out for every meal.
I would absolutely recommend this for anyone who is looking for a corporate retreat or even a family reunion. Property is fabulous and the owner is so great to work with!
My immediate family is 22 people ages 3-83. We had the great fortune to be treated to a trip to Villa Bellar for Christmas week, 2015. Finding a place for my family to enjoy is incredibly difficult. We don't like hotels/resorts as we have to eat out each meal which is a nightmare for a group this size (and usually everyone else in the restaurant :) ), not to mention expensive. Villa Bellamar was perfect for our group. With 13 bedrooms that can be either a king or 2 twins we were for once able to fit comfortably, with everyone having an equally beautiful, spacious room and bath. No more fighting over who slept on the sofa bed last time and who gets it this time, or the couch, or the blowup bed. Any large family with lots of kids know what I am talking about! . We truly felt we had our own private estate! The decor is gorgeous and comfortable, and we were able to comfortably seat all 22 of us at the dining tables. I cannot express what a treat it was for us to have the chef service included. It easily took one of the biggest hassles of traveling with my family away. they ask you what you want for breakfast, lunch, dinner and viola - it is there. We have foodies, super picky eaters, you name it. Everyone left happy and full. The food is delicious, fresh and personalized ( I wanted hot sauces and each day they came up with a new one for me - they tried to out-hot me but failed, which became a great joke and made us all laugh each evening when the chefs brought out the new selection). As delicious and amazing as the food was, it also was very reasonably priced. The staff - each and everyone of them - were friendly, professional, great with kids, took special care to make sure my 83 mom was looked after in the nicest way. The pool area is just plain awesome, and the kids spent hours in there every day. While there is a beautiful white sand area for sunbathing, the entry to the water is definitely tough. So walk down 5 minutes to sandier beaches and swim with the sea turtles. Akumal is very fun with lots of shops and bars and restaurants. Do not miss doing a cenote tour (or 4, like we did). So so cool. My family is NOT easily impressed, and everyone said it was one of our most fun vacations yet. The area is so great and has so many fun activities, all of which we enjoyed, definitely being so comfortable and having enough space for once for a group our size at this gorgeous villa with its kind and fabulous staff was the highlight.
In general, this was the best group vacation I’ve ever been on. We went for my 40th birthday, and I wanted to spend time with good friends and family. I could not have imagined any way to make it better. The only trouble is that I’ll now compare every group vacation to this one, and I imagine, they’ll never even come close.
The House is like your own private luxury hotel in the form of a house. Every room is the same so no fighting over the ‘best room’. House is located at North end of Half-Moon Bay, there is a private sand beach and two kayaks. Ocean has rock-reef bottom so bring some water shoes. Water is crystal clear. The pool and the hot-tub up on top of the pool covered patio are awesome.
The Staff is amazing: Chefs are top-notch. Two housekeepers working non-stop, every day they clean the entire house. Two Grounds-Keepers work inside and out to keep the house perfect (they actually rake the sand on the beach!). Nightime security guard is there from about 7pm to breakfast time. Unbelievable staff. Despite how many staff and how hard they work and that they are always around, it is not weird. You don’t feel like they are lurking or anything – they are great!
The Food: This was by far the best five days of food/eating in my life. I’m not kidding. I generally don’t like dealing with food b/c I’m busy in life and don’t have the time. The Chefs are incredible at what they do and are just nice guys too. We picked the first two meals (dinner and breakfast) prior to arrival and then the Master Chef came by the first morning and we chose the remaining menu. You can also have the Chefs shop for you for a nominal fee and I definitely suggest this. The cost is incredibly reasonable – way less than you’d spend going out for even half the meals. And the food is better than a restaurant.
General Layout: This was the best ‘Group Vacation’ I’ve ever been on. When you take a typical hotel vacation with a group (Vegas etc), you hardly see your friends b/c people are in their rooms so much. This vacation is the opposite: the default time is together. People hardly spent any time in their rooms. Everyone hung out in the common area, by the pool, on the beach, etc.
The Owner: Wilma is a wonderful host! She was a joy to work with and so personable. She came by the first night to make sure we all arrived ok and honestly wants your vacation to be as great as possible.
It was an unbelievable vacatión. The villa was beautiful, much better than any picture paints. The staff was amazing and kind and the owner Wilma was wonderful and súper helpful with everything we needed. The rooms were spacios and the beds were súper comfortable. Each room had a view of the pool and ocean. Amazing.!!!! They were all the same size and had pul out sofás as well if needed. Each room had its own tv and airconditioner and bathroom. The house was awesome and had room to do anything you wanted. Play ping pong, lounge by the pool , go sit in a jacuzzi, go to the rooftop to see the beautiful views, lounge by the beach, go on a kayac, or just hang on a hammock by the pool. It was ideal for couples as we did, but it would be great for families too. The chef was incredible and the food delicious. The cost per person came out to about $8 per meal per person for the cost of the food. cant beat it. We also hired a bartender who was great and made the pool bar a blast. We even had massages at the house who Wilma helped us get. You are in walking distance to Akumal and a short drive from Tulum. There is a lot to see and do and the house is perfect to go to closeby places or just stay indoors and take advantage of all it has. I wish they had some bikes to use . Thats about the only thing it lacked. I will be back for sure and would highly recommend it to all!!!
We just returned from a week at Bellamar and can't say enough how wonderful our experience was. We were a group of 21, 6 different families with 12 adults and 9 teenage children. If you are like I was prior to reserving Bellamar and reading all of the reviews - just book the house - you will not regret it.
Rather than focusing on the house layout - let me tell you a little about why this place was so special. The location is great - Akumal is a great little town - if you are looking for the large cities like Cancun or Playa this might not be for you but if you want beach, sun, amazing views, great food and a great little beach town Akumal is the place. The area felt very safe, we let our teenage kids go into town in small groups during the day and at night. There are some fun little shops and some fun bars and restaurants (mainly for Sunday's when the chefs aren't working at Bellamar).
The staff were wonderful and very professional. The food was AMAZING! Every single person in our group loved the food and it was very affordable. We had the chefs do the shopping and they provided us with a bill about every 3 days. We ended up paying around $5 - $7 per person per meal for incredible meals. They were very flexible with the times of meals to accommodate our excursions. We ate out a few meals but wished we wouldn't have because we just paid more and the food wasn't any better. You feel very spoiled by the staff and having 3 meals a day prepared for you.
The beach does not provide easy access for swimming but if you have water shoes you are fine. We enjoyed the snorkeling right from the house and saw a wide variety of fish, turtles, rays and great coral all within an easy swim of the house. We used the kayaks every day and even took them out at night to see the luminescence of the fish. If you really want to see turtles though, go to Akumal beach early in the morning, before the crowds and you will see many turtles. Later in the day it is very crowded and large tour groups.
We rented cars from Cancun and then also a golf cart. I highly recommend having cars if you want to do any excursions and I also recommend renting a golf cart and/or bikes to easily get into the little town of Akumal. It is not that far but in the heat of the day it was nice to take a golf cart rather than walking.
Can't say enough great things about Bellamar - you can't go wrong with this property!
