Inside Plaza de la Independencia. Only 150 feet to Parque del Retiro´s main entrance. The so called “Golden Mile”, is at the beginning of Serrano Street where the most fashionable and elegant shops in Madrid are concentrated, right next to the Plaza. Short walking distance to El Prado, Reina Sofia and Thyssen museums, Cibeles, Puerta del Sol, Plaza Mayor, Huertas, Malasaña, Chueca……all these within a mile walk. No need for car or public transportation. It’s located right in the heart of the city, very close to all major attractions and right between the most exclusive neighborhoods in Madrid City: Salamanca and Jeronimos. They both are clean, safe and quiet at night. Nightlife is just crossing Castellana Street. The area is lively during the day as there are many restaurants, cafés, terraces, bars and shops nearby.

This architecturally protected building is from 1880. It’s quite a restored antique under its original façade.

Has five big double bedrooms. Two include balconies which overview Plaza de la Independencia. While four of them include en-suite bathrooms, there´s a fifth complete bathroom that is used as a large guest WC too. There are also two more balconies to the Plaza at the main living room.

Kitchen and dining-room are 377 and 280 square feet respectively. They are fully equipped. The living room can comfortably accommodate twelve people. The kitchen has room for eight more, which makes it ideal for children or short meals.

All rooms have AC, even some bathrooms. It’s recently equipped and reformed - Feb 2013-to meet the highest comfort standards while respecting all the characters of a XIX century property. Keeps high ceilings, classic ceiling molding, big doors and windows, old wooden floors, hydraulic tile and of course, extensive open areas. Most ceilings are almost 13 feet tall.

The rest of the rooms are enormous too; living rooms, bedrooms and bathrooms as well. Kitchen and bathrooms are brand new, custom built, king sized and finished with continuous polished micro-cement.

The flat is directly managed by the owner to ensure quality of service and to offer a competitive price for probably the best vacation flat in the city.

Late check out and early check in are available free when possible. If not they need to be set at 12am and 4pm respectively

Please note views from the balconies can change during the year because the trees at the Plaza grow their leaves out. It turns into a green view of London Plane leaves which helps keeping the flat cooler in the summer.

Awesome Apartment , Awesome Location!

Our extended family - a large group ages 15 to 75 years old - visited our son who was studying in Madrid for the summer and rented this apartment for a week. It was amazing! The apartment itself is beautiful - it has historic architecture but has been updated in all the right ways - new bathrooms, kitchen and clean and comfortable bedrooms and Air Conditioning. So much space and so many bathrooms was wonderful for our large group! The living room provided our large group plenty of space to relax after sightseeing and before dinner. Our favorite thing to do was to come back in the evening and open up the old shutter doors to the balconies - we put chairs in the balconies and sipped wine and watched all the activity on the Plaza below. The apartment is located on the Puerta Alcala and there is so much going on right outside your door. There is a great cafe that serves breakfast lunch and dinner/ drinks right downstairs with outdoor seating - so close that we could even use our WIFI while sitting downstairs having a coffee or beer (depending on the time of day!) Around the Plaza are plenty of other places to eat as well. Also, right across the street is the entrance to the biggest and most beautiful park in Madrid - the Retiro - not to be missed! The apartment is within walking distance to all the major sights of Madrid. We had older people in our group and in the heat of late July we still were able to walk to the Plaza Mayor, Palace, Prado, etc. When the older people were tired, we took cabs - VERY cheap in Madrid. Four people to almost anywhere in the city center is 8 Euros or less - can't beat it if you have 4 in a cab and its way more convenient and not much more expensive then the metro. If you want to take the metro, it is a block away - but walking or cab is just as easy! From this location we took 3 day trips to Segovia, Allicante on the Mediterranian Sea, and Toledo. The 2 high speed train stations are an easy cab or metra ride from the apartment (Atocha Station is very walkable if you don't have older folks!) and it was so nice to be able to experience other parts of Spain but be able to come back and sleep in the same bed! We were so happy with this vacation rental - Fernando was very easy to work with throughout the whole process - great guy! We had flight delays coming into Madrid and he was very available throughout - no issues at all! HIGHLY recommend this place - we fell in love with Madrid and hope to come back!THANKS FERNANDO!

Wonderful apartment in the heart of Madrid

We spent a wonderful week in this apartment which is exactly as described! Spacious, comfortable, and located in a beautiful area next to the Puerta de Alcala, we could not have asked for more. Our group of 17 people enjoyed the apartment, perfect for big family groups.

AMAZING!

We traveled from Minnesota with 3 families (6 adults and 6 children) for our spring break vacation. Puerta De Alcala was the first stop of our two week trip and it was absolutely perfect! Great location, wonderful hosts, and a really nice layout for a larger group. We can't wait to go back again.

Excellent!

We were 5 academicians doing research in the nearby museums. We loved the flat. Very spacious and elegant, with an ideal location. Close to museums. Beautiful park across the street. There was a minor booking problem that was quickly and graciously addressed by Fernando to our complete satisfaction. I would love to rent this flat again and again.
